Took over an overgrown allotment three weeks a go having to transport all garden tools each day from home. After digging out one bed realised I needed a shed to keep basic tools and a seat for having a readt from time to time. Meanwhil, one allitment holder gave me a key to use his shed until I have one and another lets me use his wheel barrow. I have bought some old scaffold boards and made 8 X 4ft beds and am lining them with free cardboard flattened from a local shop, collect an old shed wednesday from someone building a conservatory, free horse manure from local stables, free top soil advertised locally and yes, you don't have to spent a lot of money to set up an allotment. Its a good work out but well worth the effort. Loving it.

As much as you aren't happy handling your compost in June, boy it's looking good! "Slug pressure incoming right at the foreground" - like a weather forecast 😅😅 Envious of your peas, especially those tall ones!

Hi JB, lovely plot tour. Plants are doing well in your greenhouse, too. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊

Lovely tour, JB! ❤ You got so much growing! We’ve had lots of wind and rain, but temps are just now rising, so I’m going to sow more seeds. Like you, slugs took out ALL my seedlings in my 4x4 squarefoot bed, so I had to replant different seedlings/plants that were bigger to hopefully survive the slugs. I am super proud of all the flowers in my garden this year. At the moment, it almost feels like I have more flowers than veggies in my garden! I even got foxgloves ranging from a foot tall, all the way to six foot or more! Anyway, Joey built me two off-ground garden beds, both 2x4 size, so I’m hoping slugs won’t crawl all the way up to reach the veggies I’m sowing this weekend, lol. 😂 Fingers crossed. By the way, those peas look amazing!!! Can’t wait to see the plots come alive in the coming weeks. 🥰🌱❤️

Well JB you just gave me a lightbulb moment. Why I've never considered taking a video of my flower beds as I introduce perennials or of the raised beds month by month to compare year by year... I've just no idea why I never considered it. That has to be tip of the year 😁 Great tour by the way. Grazie e goditi la tua vacanza

Your updates always make me feel so much better JB. All these other garden channels with lush, green growth, and there's me struggling to germinate anything but beans and lettuce! I also keep some of the weeds for the pollinators, and to deter the slugs. Absolutely love your ethos and approach to growing. Thank you x

This is a great time to sow wallflowers, sweet williams, forget me nots and other biennial flowers. You've got the space in the greenhouse so why not :)

Great tour, you are right about the slow start to everything this year. Just not much light I think and the cooler nights are still persisting. I got 8C in my greenhouse a couple of days ago and and it 2nd week of June.
I hope you are enjoying your holiday. Thank you for keeping the video schedule going, much appreciated.

Lovely video thank you JB and have a fabulous holiday! For spring onions, I had shocking germination until I covered them with vermiculite rather than compost. My aim really was to see which seed packets I needed to cull and I figured it out and had some much better results from the others 🤷‍♀️

This interior life is a good thing, there is no stress that can resist this lifestyle. It's really cool to see people growing their own food. It would be great if more people acquired this habit. In addition to improving our health by consuming healthier foods, we contribute to preserving our planet by reducing the use of pesticides.

I found herbs really difficult to start, I think I’ve managed some basil but it’s tiny and I’ve put it in the ground and I’ll see what happens 😂 managed some chives which took two attempts and I’ve put them in with tomatoes in the pot. I think I managed some oregano as well but again it’s tiny. I didn’t think herbs would be difficult?
You have so much growing though, I’m in awe!
There’s lots more I want to try but it’ll probably be next year after I’ve had a year of experience 😂 this is my first year and I’ve got quite a lot to be honest, I can’t believe I’ve managed to get anything growing from seed 🌱 so anything that grows is a miracle 😅

Have a fantastic holiday ( I think you said Italy?) weirdly I have just got back from the Amalfi coast - I half wondered if I’d bump into you there as I remembered you said you were going soon.
Have a wonderful time, it’s an amazing country.

That Chard stem looks so cool! I've never seen a sweet potato plant before. It kind of looks like a small tree hehe. And those "normal" potatoes... That's like a frickin forest! 🥔I think we've gotten some of your weather here. It's down to ~15° C during the day and around 10° C at night 🤪Hopefully it'll get back to ~25° C during the day around 20° C at night! 🤞Hope you had a wonderful vacation and that there was as little slug nibbling during it as during the first night out for the plants!

This year very much is hit and miss with seed sowing, growth or lack of it and plants being very sluggish.
Coold nights and lack of any decent light levels are probably to blame but very frustrating all the same 😮

Phecilea may not be your favorite but it's an amazing flower for pollinaters especially bees.
    Happy hols.

nice to see how great your plots are coming along, feeling a little bit jealous. I'll borrow your idea and will be putting up more of those support structures for peas/beans etc, it brings height into the plot and saves space. 🤣 Does anyone else find that plants are growing much slower than expected? Lately I've seen that shorts are coming up from Steve, Greenside up. So lovely to see him again, he's greatly missed💟
