After being part of dozens of music scenes across the planet the past 40 yrs I've found that so called "old punks" tend to just be drop outs that haven't checked out anything to do with the current music scene in 10-20 yrs. Yeah I'll see them when say the Circle Jerks come to town but they wouldn't cross the street, literally, to see an actual diy punk band. Usually this type of once was punk rocker is more concerned with their job, relationship, kids, health issues, or addiction than being a part of any music scene. I've seen hordes of kids "grow up" move to the suburbs & start wearing khakis over the years. It's lame but those people were probably poseurs anyway. Just some glory days in the distant past to hold on to. There are a few diehards out there but swimming against stream to stay punk into middle age takes actual dedication to the ideals & lifestyle not just spending hours online buying records from bands you'll never see. It sucks but that's how it goes. To summarize, there are a ton of great punk bands playing everywhere, all the time. You just prbly aren't following them on IG so they don't exist to you
@@rega5950 growing up in Orange County.. I'm 51 now . If your a scene hopper.. that Poser.. always has been.. always will.... My music life . Is reflected in my Playlist on my channel.. this medium has created a improved format to find new music.. Streetwise for example.. Ill never travel to Europe to see them, Ultra Razzia, would be cool to find them playing even a few states away .. what really hurt my friends bands and others I like was that B.S lock downs.. all the little Clubs closed Showcase theater, Chain Reaction etc, older ones years ago . I forget what year. Maybe 2007 or 2008, I seen them open for Sub-Hum-Ans in Santa Cruz at the veterans memorial building. Great show.
