I loved when Sam hugged her and picked her up. You could see Naya's genuine smile. You can always see the difference between a Santana smile and a Naya smile.
Yes! It was a natural Naya and Cory are friends hug between them during the last song, too. 😢
Control is my favorite number from this MJ related sectionals. Everybody is going WILD on the choreo and Quinn is so fierce at the beggining. I wish the troubletones had at least another song so they could justify at least a tie.

sam and mercedes and tina and mike were really the best hetero couples on this show. also! this ep marks the best quinn arc in the entire show. from this ep onward for the rest of s3, quinn is fantastic
Lindsay Pearce was a legend back then. I think they didn't brought her back cause she's TOO good. She was Elphaba on Broadway some years ago ❤️

Nah Ryan didn't really connect to her in the glee project. The other judges pretty much talked him in to giving her a runners up spot.
Hands down this is my favorite New Directions performance ever. And it was without four of the main girls and stars of the show. I loved that they all played a part and had portions they sang. And the part with Mike and his dad makes me cry every single time.
Shew the scene with Naya and Cory in we are young gets me everytime. 😭 the fact that she was found on the anniversary of his passing 💔💔💔

I actually had the pleasure of singing the solo of „man in the mirror“ in my choir when I was in High School. I am glad you like the song as much as I do Trevor. I was always very doubtful of my singing skills, but it’s was such a confidence boost when we performed at the market place of my home town and people were just screaming „Michael“. 😅

I think that's why in reality the New Directions would win - because they have multiple great individual singers who come together to make a fantastic choir vs most choirs who have one or two great voices backed by a bunch of okay voices that sing backup. That's why I love this competition, because they have so many different people singing that we usually don't get to hear plus The Jackson's songs!

i know a lot of people say the girls should have win but i don't agree i like the New Directions performance better better vocals ( we heard more Tina Quinn Kurt Mike Artie ) the one who don't hear that much so yes for me they deserved it and idk i'm always really amaze when Mercedes hold a note in ND performance in I Will Survive that wasn't it.. we didn't see what she could really bring wich is bad cause she's amazing

I agree that Control isn't the best pick when Janet had awesome songs.
Finchel saying they needed star power to beat the Troubletones but bring Sam. That's misleading. Are they saying Sam is the one that could replace Rachel, Mercedes, Santana and Brittany? He might be the weakest link in the club.
This is my second favorite competition performance for New Directions after the Journey Medley. I think they used everyones voices really well and I loved the combination of Tina and Quinn as the only girls in this performance. I like Rachel but I think this performance worked really well without her.
Also I liked that they had Santana and Mercedes leave New Directions as it gave us more duets from them.
I loved Sam and Mercedes’ version of Michael’s “Human Nature” , Mercedes’ version of “Let’s Wait Awhile” , And when they did Control” they never did a whole episode on Janet’s music. 🫤
