    She's using data that is known to be wildly inaccurate. Either she's complicit or is entirely too trusting of others. Inflation hasn't been affected. Job layoffs are rapidly accelerating. S-T-A-G-F-L-A-T-I-O-N

      Yeah, they're hoping Biden will go away next year. Jobless rate is skyrocketing and inflation isn't slowing down. Stagflation is here to stay everywhere.

    Is it true that higher inflation merely came from temporarily higher commodity prices, hence rather than from a monetary or economic reason ? Geopolitics about Opec & Russia rather than rate poicy adjustment ?

      no. they fucking lied to you. it came from loans and debt.

      @@tabithadickerson2525 Correct. Inflation is a monetary phenomenon; you will not see generalized price increases without monetary policy being stimulative and credit expansion. Plus prices were going up long before the invasion of Ukraine. Isn't it hilarious that the public has been fed total nonsense?

    don't you have to raise rates to get to 2%. what is this

    • @toantang5483
      @toantang5483 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      by the time it hits 2% it would be too late to regain momentum, which means the central bank has to cut rate fast and require a stimulate package to boost the economy other wise recession starts and unemployent will shoot up.

    "Profits are absorbing part of the pronounced price in unit labor cost, which reduces its inflationary effects" [8:05]... man... I've never heard a central banker so openly say, "we want zero newly printed money to go to labor". Someone needs to figure out what size head basket Ms. LeGrande's guillotine should have.

    Inflation to go up again. Especially in labour intensive industries. Unemployment is at historical low of 6.4 percent.

    So 3 years of inflation way above targets (even with their manipulated numbers) and she thinks it would be dramatic if prices were only rising at 1.3% a year from now. Perhaps she is unaware but the consumer prefers to see prices go down. Undoubtedly the current prices are locked in and we will never see the previous prices again, but some actual price stability would be nice (0% inflation measured by price increases). Not personally looking forward to perennially pay more for the goods and services I purchase year after year...
    Rest of the speech and Q&A is just more garbage about being data-driven and REALLY SUPER DETERMINED about fighting inflation. And yet they are already reducing rates while the inflation rate remains at 3% and we have indicators that inflation will be going up again. Reality is the economy is so weak and has relied so much on stimulus and monetary inflation to maintain itself that the whole economy collapses as soon as they attempt to tighten policy.
    I would not be surprised to see some countries secede from the Euro in the next few years because the incompetent ECB is doing everything it can to destroy the currency. One piece of advice: hedge against the currency by getting large fixed rate loans at these rates.
