Red.light.right.turn is just like a stop.sign.right.turn - Stop & check sidewalk - Creep forward , check cars & wait for safe. - Shoulder check before going, to make sure noone coming on the crosswalk last minute. Good Luck 👍

8:18 is really depending on the examiner. On my first road test I stopped at red traffic light while asked to do right turn, I was able to wait until the light turns green without issue. On my second road test with same situation, while I was waiting for the light to turn green, the car behind me started honking at me. The examiner got upset, complained I was blocking traffic and failed me.
@@dminnovatores I tried to complain to ICBC but they just ignored. All I could do is to book my next exam at different location to avoid this crazy examiner.
@@dminnovatores Ouch.. sorry to hear that.. The bad examiner happened at Port Coquitlam ICBC. My other two road tests were perfectly fine (one of them I failed due to my mistake), and they are Coquitlam Blue Mountain and Richmond Lansdowne ICBC.
if people honk at you because your not turning quick enough, simply start moving out as if your going to turn, but actually you don't have any intention of pulling out. When people are in a hurry simply moving will alleviate their anxiety. It's a psychological trick. Some might still honk but it will reduce the # of people honking at you.
During ICBC road test, for turning right when the light is read, could we wait before the intersection line until the light turns green? And this won't be penalty?

I stopped at green light for a sec to check my my blind spot , the examiner told me that i should check my mirror as the car is moving without stopping .
For clarification, suppose I have a green light and about a hundred feet before the right turn I do my safety checks (rear view mirror, side mirror, and blind spot, but then I have to yield to a pedestrian that is in my path. Just after letting the pedestrian go, do I only do a shoulder check to the right, or do I have to do all of the of the safety checks again, wish include the rear view mirror, side mirror, and blind spot?
Hi Taniuksa, thank you for your question. I think the important thing is that your mirror checks and shoulder checks combined shouldn't really take more than 2 seconds to perform. If you think about it in that light then the question becomes, can I save one second by skipping the mirrors? I usually jusy say be like a robot and check. That way you always know for sure. Turning on red always makes me confused. Now I know that I don't HAVE TO turn right on red. I can wait if I want, and maybe turn off the right turn signal :)
My driving instructor told me that I can’t just wait for the lights to turn green when turning right. I told him about this, and he said he is absolutely sure I will get penalty if I just wait when there are no oncoming cars/ pedestrians. Is it because the rules are different here in Richmond, BC?
Hi Nina, you are not obligated to make a right turn on a red light. Having said that, why would you sit at a red light until it turns green if, after your full stop, you determine that it is clear and safe to proceed, and there are no signs prohibiting you?
Hello, if you take a look at your marking sheet, you will likely see the reason for failure to be marked as something else because, as another BC driving school puts it: "Due to the potentially dangerous nature of right turn on red lights, this maneuver is a “permissive action” not a “required action”. Meaning drivers may turn right, after coming to a complete stop at the stop line, if it is safe to do so however they are not required to." You will need to review the rules and regulations for your province. Here in BC, we are allowed to perform a right turn at a red light after making a full stop, only if it is safe to do so and is not prohibited by a sign.

Yeah, they can honk at me all they want. If I don't feel safe proceeding, I won't go. I'm not going to risk an accident because they're impatient.

If you’re too scared to turn right on red you’re clearly a safety hazard in multiple ways all over the road.

I turned right on a red light after making sure there was no car approaching and the instructor immediately disqualified me for running a red light.
