  • I found this computer outside of a local tire shop, where it had been rained on, infested with bugs, and left to rot, and this is AFTER spending 20 years in an automotive repair setting! This thing was FILTHY!
    Can we get it up and running, and more importantly, can it game?

    This was so unscripted and down to earth and just pure "lets make a video and upload it" type of video I just had to sub ;) love the grittines ;) You CAN buy a raspberry pi, but can I run windows xp as good, no. will it be faster yes. Do we need faster, no ;)

    I'm actively still using a ThinkCentre A60 which looks identical to this, but mine was a very late '08 model with Socket AM3/DDR3. I've patched the BIOS to support the AMD FX line (up to 8370, VRM permitting), and fully decked it out some time ago with 32GB RAM, 8370, and a 1080 Ti. Supports PopCNT which gives it the odd XP box that can actually handle Windows 11 with Secure Boot/TPM bypassed, yet pass the CPU PopCNT requirement for 24H2. I did add Tianocore EDKII to the BIOS however so it can UEFI boot now (quite the hack to the Phoenix BIOS, but hey it works, and still can legacy boot as well, so it's not just looking for GPT, it just looks for GPT after failing MBR boot, *before* the "OS not found" error is rendered on screen.
    Eventually I'll upgrade this old tired machine, but for now, it simply still works well. Even has a 3D mark benchmark result online, along with a CPU-Z validation to prove I truly pushed an A60 this far.

      When I first found this PC, I considered replacing the motherboard with something much more modern, but decided against it. Pretty soon here. I'll be upgrading the ram and seeing how much of a difference that makes in Battlefront II, as I don't really think we were video card limited

      @@mattfoxlikesretro With that specific ThinkCentre, it likely is CPU limited, so you're quite right in thinking it wasn't a video card limitation. Worth a try though to see.
      Most of the A60's at the time I purchased mine were AM2, and DDR2, a generation behind (but to be honest, in 08 it was still current).

    This Thinkcentre Is DDR2 Right?
    Maybe Core 2 Duo Is Can Work On This

      @mattfoxlikesretro  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, in theory, a Core 2 Duo e4600 will work in this, but there is no official support for anything newer than that to my knowledge. One might be able to get something newer to work, but I have not tested anything other than the Pentium 4 640 and 541. I accidentally upgraded form the 541 to the 640 off camera when I was trying to replace the original broken CPU cooler, and did not discover my blunder until this last weekend lol

    Very cool vid, but let's be honest, No one wants to touch a Lenovo when they are new ;)~
    Also, myself i would have pulled all the Electronics and such off the case, and let it soak in hot soapy water

      Looking back at it after the fact, I am pretty sure the WiFi card is dead, but that is not surprising given where I found the PC. I may come back and re-visit this computer with some upgrades in the future
