So much better than anything released today. Josh Joplin is way underrated. The lyrics and melody of this song are absolutely beautiful. Music that touches the soul.
I actually found this song by accident a few years back, and I had a copy of it stored on my Fileden account. When Fileden went down, the song went with it. A few days ago, I suddenly wanted to hear it, because it inspires me in my writing. I couldn't remember the name of the blasted song, who sang it, or 99% of the lyrics. It made it especially hard to find. Typing what I knew of the lyrics got me nowhere. I had all but given up until today, until out of the blue I remembered how the chorus went, thus I figured out the name of the song. I'm so glad I did. It's just as beautiful as I remember. One of my personal favorites.
I know this comment is 8 years old but a very similar thing just happened to me. This song was on a mix CD that a coworker gave me probably back in 2001 or 2002. I loved it so much. Then life happened and I have no idea what became of that CD. Today I randomly thought of that song and I still knew parts of the chorus. I searched for it and it led me here.
Holy crap! Similar situation... My husband put this on a playlist for me many many years ago. We loved it, but we both lost the song after we switched to streaming instead of mp3's. I searched and searched, but finally found it recently. Although not on the streaming services I use. Damnit. Anyway, if you haven't heard this amazing song - DO IT! I find myself listening to it over and over on here.
Were you looking for "better days (and the bottom drops out)" I was, and found this song and haven't heard it in about fifteen years til right now. Love this song
You will be getting your wish soon. Josh recently re-recorded the song under the band name Among the Oak and Ash and it's going to be on their new album Figure Drawing. It's supposed to be out in the next few months.
@@hockeyglenn just an update, the album is on Spotify today. It's called "Figure Drawing". The song name is "Late Night, Early Morning", but it's the same song, just re-recorded by Josh like 30 years later.
Late night Early morning We talked until there was nothing left to say It was strange The war was on But I've never felt so safe And I've never seen better days You laughed You understood Something unfamialar And I didn't think I could feel this way I was cold and tired And the world outside was hungry But I've never seen better days, better days No I've never seen better days And nights were tragic But it didn't seem to matter It was easier then to turn the other way From the ruins of rage I guess we were scared But I've never seen better days, better days No I've never seen better days And when I kissed you Concealing my confusion Of what I knew, but just couldn't say I love you I love you Oh how I love you And I've never seen better days, better days No I've never seen better days The end is here The end is here The end is here And I've never seen better days, better days No I've never seen better days

Beautiful song! Love the piano and guitar parts and the voice is great also!
I remember getting this song a LONG time ago from Napster (when that was still a thing). I used to listen to it all the time in high school.

Late night
Early morning
We talked until there was nothing left to say
It was strange
The war was on
But I've never felt so safe
And I've never seen better days
You laughed
You understood
Something unfamialar
And I didn't think I could feel this way
I was cold and tired
And the world outside was hungry
But I've never seen better days, better days
No I've never seen better days
And nights were tragic
But it didn't seem to matter
It was easier then to turn the other way
From the ruins of rage
I guess we were scared
But I've never seen better days, better days
No I've never seen better days
And when I kissed you
Concealing my confusion
Of what I knew, but just couldn't say
I love you
I love you
Oh how I love you
And I've never seen better days, better days
No I've never seen better days
The end is here
The end is here
The end is here
And I've never seen better days, better days
No I've never seen better days
Hi😍😍😍
