They are an Idol group…Boy band is a Western construct…They actually write and produce
It's not just a 'Rapper Sound' they are Rappers. The 3 Rappers: RM, Suga and J-Hope all spit bars. RM and Suga were part of the underground Hip Hop scene and both started at the age of 13 well before they were BTS and got a lot of hate from the Underground Rappers for becoming BTS also J-Hope was a street dancer dancing to some of the greatest Rappers and he then became a Rapper himself. All 3 of them can spit bars and are real Rappers who write their own lyric's with excellent candence, flow and amazing word play.
Thank you Georgia! I grew up a metalhead/emo kid in the early 2000s but this group has felt like home for many years. You never get bored, run out of new music, and will continue to be impressed because they're a rare case of artists that never "sold out" or lost their quality. I'm sure people have mentioned in the comments that they talk about the dark side of mental health a lot. The more you get into them, the more impressive they are. If you ever run into a "writer's block" of content to react to, BTS (and we) are always around, lol
There are also tons of documentaries on youtube if you want to attempt this rabbit hole - the group, their history, the music video storyline/universe, world records, song meanings, etc. It's all very artistic and creative.

It's a real theatre and that's Jimin dancing and singing, he started out with HipHop dance and attended the Busan School of Arts where he studied Modern Contemporary Dance and Tradition Korean Dance he was their top student. He also spent 8 years training in various martial arts so he's able to combine all those skills. The a song is inspired by a number of things (A) quote from famous dancer 'A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing and this is the most painful death.' (B) The lyric's talk about what if they lose the ability/their passion for Song Writing, Composing, Producing, Singing, Rapping, Dancing it's a fear as they have been working non stop at this point. Their work is about them, about mental health, societial issues etc etc much of their work is based on great works of Literature, Art, Psychology. Notice the shadow dancing behind Suga as he Raps. That shadow is Jimin dancing but it has meaning in Psychology the 'Shadow' is the place were we hide our fears and dark thoughts, often the things we don't want other's to know about. The 'Shadow' here represents their fear of losing their passion for their art. At the end of the MV while JungKook is resting against the rail looking down at the stage you'll notice the huge black 'Shadow' falls down to nothing disappearing this represents their victory over their fear of losing their passion for their art. Also, for good storytelling is RM's 'Wildflower'. RM is the leader of BTS and Wildflower is a song on his solo album.
Right now, they're doing solo albums before joining the military. Two members have already started their mandatory military service, which lasts for 18 months. They'll be back as a group sometime in 2025.

It's funny you said that you liked storytelling, because I want to say two things about this.
First, some of their videos are actually mini-movies with a clear storyline. "The Astronaut" by Jin has a heartwarming story.
The trilogy from Agust D are Daechwita, Haegeum, and Amygdala, which is connected in their narrative and symbolism.
(BTS members all have solo songs.)
Another thing I want to mention is that they have a fictional story line called the BU (Bangtan Universe) that runs through multiple MVs, games, books, etc. If you're curious about that, start with "I Need U".
Btw, the member dancing alone on the dark stage in the spotlight is Jimin. He's a phenomenal dancer. The performance of his solo songs always has intricate choreography, like "Set Me Free Pt. 2".

Thank you so much for giving them a chance. Their visuals are amazing, along with singing, rapping, choreo, videos, live performances, dance practices, all are sooo good! They are not a boy band, their fans (whom they named ARMY), are ALL AGES. I am so glad my daughter introduced me to them over 3 years ago. Save Me is my personal fave.

In the ballet Swan Lake there are 2 swans one black/evil and one white/good, in many modern productions they are played by the same dancer, symbolizing the struggle within oneself between light and dark.
They have a whole album about the shadowself and even a Universe.

They are kings of storytelling. Every song has story and subtle hidden messages. I am glad that you thoroughly enjoyed the MV. Lyricism is one of the niche of BTS and Ofcourse the effort they put in each song as well as MV is amazing. I will not keep on rambling here about them😂. I would suggest you listen to Blood, Sweat and Tears or Spring Day.

It would be interesting for you to watch the video, A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7, which focuses on each one individually and will give you an idea of exactly who they are, and the time of work and talent of these guys, which June 13th makes 10 years since their debut, the group is composed of 3 rappers and 4 vocal line and yes they have a lot of dancing performances, it's worth taking a deeper look

Black Swan is a song that expresses their fear of losing their passion for music.
And ON is their determination to overcome that fear and move on to the future. :)
BTS member Jin said in his acceptance speech at the 2018 MAMA that BTS suddenly became famous worldwide and had a hard time for a year due to great pressure and fear. They even thought about disbanding. However, after a year of talking and contemplating with the members, they decided to stay in the industry only for the fans and members, and move forward.
The albums that have been released since then are Map of the Soul series. The albums are filled with songs that reconsider their inner self, the relationship between the seven members, and the relationship between them and fans. Black Swan, ON, Boy with Luv, and We are Bulletproof : the Eternal are one of those songs.
Boy with Luv contains a message that they will fly toward fans, not the sun, with wings attached by ARMY.
After listening to Black Swan, you can better understand how they feel by reading ON's lyrics. :)
And at the last October's concert in Busan, SUGA told ARMY to grow old together because they will make music for another 20 or 30 years.😭
The lyrics of BTS' songs are based on their own experiences, and their albums are organic because they contain their growth narrative.
It will also be fun to listen to their albums in order and analyze them. :)

You're very respectful and saying definitely interested NBTF pretty sure you're not putting on a act and faking it because you're not capable of acting that well that's obvious by the way you talk. A dislike for you talking so much a dislike for you overly using the word like too much. Buck it's still unfortunate that TH-cam will only accommodate one dislike per video sorry about the dislikes but if I didn't give dislikes, you wouldn't get a like from me. That's just because I look at all these videos and all the hundreds and hundreds of people that watched them and nobody ever gives dislikes the videos, they give numerous comments and numerous lights if they didn't like the video there's some bad comments but still no dislikes.
