@GrapeSkoda But we was never taught this stuff, it’s the last thing they want the population to know, people would be wanting more Wilderness, and not be such good consumers.
Just found you, will be digesting everything I can. As a serious veg grower here in the UK I feel I needed more info on wild edibles, looks like I have found exactly what I need!
Covid lockdown is long over even though we still hear of covid cases. I abosolutely loved this basic foraging presentation Marlo. I am a Novice but have done a bit of foraging and love it !! So rewarding gathering your own food! Thank You .
Your video is great, really concise and informative, thank you very much. As time has moved on, unless you are vulnerable, hopefully we all now know that keeping away from each other is not the right thing to do for what is flu, it’s one of the ways we build our immune system. I hope you are enjoying every precious moment with your…toddler now!
What a brilliant video, I'm just getting into foraging and bushcraft so it's all new to me, thanks for sharing your knowledge and making it easy to understand. Congratulations to you and your family. Keep safe.
just brought your book, as got into foraging and your videos have really helped me and my 6 year old daughter identity plants and mushrooms 🍄.. Its made our woodland walks even more interesting.
@@DaemonSmurf You can only eat stuff safely if you can clearly distinguish it from stuff that's unsafe. These are definitely things that are good to know.
@@DaemonSmurf Very well said Simon Templar and Andrew Barrett. We're busy people in a world of information overload. Less quantity, more quality please.
I put my last find of St George's on a pizza, with chopped wild garlic and local asparagus. Garlic butter base and a few spring onions. Was really good!
Thank you so much for a fascinating video. I love your clear botanical explanations. I love your enthusiasm. I have bought your book as a present for myself and another as a present for a friend. Best wishes to you, your wife and your little one and keep the foraging videos coming!
Congratulations to both you and your wife Marlow, and as many others have mentioned it is lovely to see you back in front of the camera. Thank you for taking us with you on this walk and I am thoroughly looking forward to seeing the upcoming videos. Stay safe and enjoy the time you've been blessed with your family. 🙏🏼
You're a top man! I love your videos, a great tonic in these testing time. Congratulations to you and your wife, I can only guess at the stress that you have been through, but you are still so positive, a great inspiration to us all. Keep safe, all the best, Steve.
Late to the party, but congratulations Marlo on your little baby. Never thought a foraging video could put tears in my eyes but the last few seconds of this one did. I feel you man, went through something similar. Love your work, please keep it up!
Congratulations to you and your wife, and thanks for the video. One of the 1st things I want to do post pandemic is attend one of your courses, looking forward to it!
Congratulations on your wee newborn! It sounds like your family went through quite an ordeal but am glad all is well. Where I live in Canada we still have a lot of snow (since October). So, your foraging video was a huge breath of fresh air...so lovely to see green grass and vegetation. Can't wait for foraging season! There is nothing I'd rather do than forage for hours and hours, losing all track of time, immersed in nature. Thank you so much! Really looking forward to your videos this year, particularly those on fungi.
Funnily enough, it may have just been my teacher was passionate about nature, but i learned tons of stuff about trees and plants from my Primary School teacher. I still have my old School jotter with tree leaves in it we sellotaped, and were graded how we correctly identified them. He did use our school days out to take us to zoos too, even though it was clear he didn't like zoos. I am fifty though, so things may have changed in the current education system. I must also mention Marlowe's content, very informative, engaging, useful, and a great guide to identifying food you can forage...wonderful!
I am just getting into foraging and loved your video. Congratulations to you and your wife and your new addition to the family - who is now a year old! I am so glad your experience with the NHS was positive. I'm afraid one year on I find it hard to be so positive. What a shame. But keep on foraging and putting it out there
Such a great intro to foraging, thanks. Another thing that's free to forage at the moment is vitamin D and if you've been following Dr. John Campbell you'll know that's a great thing to get for free, especially right now. Thanks.
Thank you Marlow for sharing your extensive knowledge! So glad you and your family are home now. We’re missing Wild Food UKs Spring Courses, hopefully we’ll see you again in the Autumn.
Congratulations on your new addition! I love your videos, very informative and given in friendly manner, your passion to share comes through very strongly, a big thank you for teaching me more about the land I live in
Loving your video. Please could you zoom into the plants more in future videos? Some plants, I'm unsure exactly how it looks like. Thank you for your content!
Cheers Marlow at-al, great vid and good advice. How nice to have a new video to help with the cabin fever! And Congratulations to you and your family! all the best to locked down foragers everywhere :-)
Absolutely wonderful video once again Marlow! A great little refresher on some plants I already know, and definitely some new ones there for me too. Congratulations on your new baby! I also have a newborn, I had my first baby on the 15th March. It's a strange time to become a parent and I pictured late spring foraging trips with baby in a sling, but looks like the Spring edibles will mostly have to wait for next year for us. Looking forward to Part 2! :)
Thanks Marlow, great informative video, Very emotional at the end! Hope you and your family are safe and well and the new little one is growing well, Can't wait till your courses start again x
Congrats on the baby to you and your wife! Yes, a big thanks to the NHS. Thank you for these videos. Did one of the courses at Blenheim Palace last year and have been foraging since. Cooked up a hogweed and garlic mustard thoran today - a kerala preparation with coconut, green chillies and seasoned with mustard seeds. I read the pocket guide most days so have a good theoretical knowledge of most of the plants but need more practical experience. Will look out for St George's mushroom but not sure of any others.
Great vid man. I'm always impressed by your intimate knowledge of the subject and I always learn something. I could really use your expertise for a day here in the Highlands. Lots of edibles about but little confidence to pick them, and a wife who understandably doubts my ability to not poison her. Lol Thanks again.
Funny how humans get twisted up with idiotic societal norms and end up in the bamboozled zone. They should be learning from you but you obviously lost the plot like most adults. Sorry for the painful truth 😁😁
Dandelions . Leaves great ..roots once dried, scrubbed and dried ground down once fully dried ..makes coffee ..like camp coffee from years ago ( coffee with chicory)
I often collect dock and make a delicious dock soup with potatoes, sour cream and boiled egg. I always thought that only hawthorn fruits are edible. You surprised me with these leaves :D
No giant hog weed mention. Yet. ...5:35 .....im still learning this family.. hey found a really ripe yew tree. And had a month full of Berry's.. and spat out the seeds which is very hard to do for the first time. . V v nice. Oh and the fushure Berry's are puka... Top top tip ... Love u man . Wild food UK is my go to channel for foraging.
Great video and congratulations on the new born. We were booked in with you in may but sadly the lockdown ruined that but we will see you soon hopefully!
People should definitely take care not to get hogweed sap on them like he mentions - I currently have 2 blisters on the back of my hand from picking this out on a sunny day last week! They take about 2 days to blister so you don't know about it till it's too late either.
I've done a course every year with Wild Food UK for the past 3-4 years in different places and times. Really hoping some courses still happen this year.
Funny how we have to learn from this guy something we should have learned in school as a kid
Yes isn't this just the worst. I'm learning in my near 40s what I needed to learn throughout my childhood.
Parents, teachers, friends, let us all be motivated to share our knowledge, especially with the young uns 👍
Why teach independence when you can create wage slaves
Right On! especially now in these increasingly uncertain times and uncertain future.

You punny bar steward
Very much the same im something of a serious grower and am looking to extend to wild sources mainly for fun
Covid lockdown is long over even though we still hear of covid cases. I abosolutely loved this basic foraging presentation Marlo. I am a Novice but have done a bit of foraging and love it !! So rewarding gathering your own food! Thank You .
Thanks for the info just started foraging and this info is pure gold
Thanks so much for taking the time with these videos. I'm new to foraging and this is gold.
Wow! Your child is going to have some magical walks in the woods. Thanks for the video and have subscribed.

its a looong journey
Congratulations Marlow. You are a legend- keep them coming!! Enjoy your baby. It gets easier by the way!
just brought your book, as got into foraging and your videos have really helped me and my 6 year old daughter identity plants and mushrooms 🍄.. Its made our woodland walks even more interesting.
You: Now this one...
Me: Ooh, that looks nice. I'll remember that one.
You: ... is poisonous.
haha
Yep..More than once haha.. I decided after the first time, yeah I'm taking a book with me .. confused much 😆.. Great video tho.
Lol, instead of showing us loads of stuff we can't eat how about showing us what we can safely eat!
@@DaemonSmurf You can only eat stuff safely if you can clearly distinguish it from stuff that's unsafe. These are definitely things that are good to know.

Bravo, for the positive message surrounding Covid. We have to be alive to help rebuild. And thank you for the wonderful video.

Congratulations on your new baby
Great and clear information from a humble person, top stuff!!

Love this back to basics, I've been watching your videos for a while, but this is extremely useful thank you.
Thank you so much for a fascinating video. I love your clear botanical explanations. I love your enthusiasm. I have bought your book as a present for myself and another as a present for a friend. Best wishes to you, your wife and your little one and keep the foraging videos coming!

Excellent video. We used to make horse raddish sauce when we were kids back in the 80's. Picked it from the riverbank.

Thank you, Arlo! We are foraging in our social distancing life which is kind of normal for nerds like us.

Parabéns!!! ✨💛✨...enjoy the magic...we can learn so much from newborns as they transition into this world. It truly is wondrous! 🌻✨
