    Does each Werkstatt come with a Mother-32 to use as calibration reference? :D

    • @MoogSynthesizers
      @MoogSynthesizers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well since this calibration is for the VCO exponential fm input, the process requires an external CV source. We chose the Mother-32, but the idea is that you'd calibrate the Werkstatt to whatever external CV source you decide to use to control the Werkstatt in your studio.

    If you're trying to calibrate the werkstatt using the arturia key step, use the midi control center, under CV/Gate settings you can choose the 0V note. Mine was set to -2C !

    I realized, that there is the need to assemble the whole case before testing the tone pitch. Maybe there are some EMI problems at my setup. But anyway, the process takes more time, but it also works great for me, thank you!

    When calibrating the new version of the Werkstatt with the Keystep, in the Keystep's Midi Control Center should the Gate CV Output be in S-Trig or V-Trig? Also, should the 0V Midi Note be changed from C-2? Thank you for any help you can provide!

    • @MoogSynthesizers
      @MoogSynthesizers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gate output should be V-trig. No need to change the 0v midi note, it really comes down to your preference, either way, you'll just want to use 0V for this calibration process, wherever it falls on your keyboard.

    • @alexandermontagnet3361
      @alexandermontagnet3361 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MoogSynthesizers Thank you for the reply! Ok, V-trig it is! The reason I was concerned with that as well as changing the 0V MIDI Note is because the only way I can find a key that doesn’t change pitch when I mess with the trimmer is by dropping the octave of the keyboard from 0 to -3 or -4...

    I'm trying to do this with my Mavis but I cannot get it in tune no matter what I do. It's connected to a keystep and the 1V/oct trimpot VR18 does not adjust the pitch no matter what key I press on the Keystep. I've been trying to get this to work for hours now and I'm honestly about to just return it, this should not be this difficult to do.

    which input its the equivalent of "GATE IN" in the old version CV Expander?

    • @MoogSynthesizers
      @MoogSynthesizers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can use the 'Gate Out' on the old version as a 'Gate In', it operates both ways.

    • @atomboyd
      @atomboyd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MoogSynthesizers I’ve seen mods to implement your own dedicated Gate In for the old expander. Is there any advantage to this besides getting a separate i/o out of it? For example cleaner gate signals from one or the other, or is it unnecessary if you don’t care about sending gate in and out at the same time (for whatever reason)?

    what if I do not have a mother32 ? I would assume the process should work with any analog synth that is able to output CV?

    • @MoogSynthesizers

      yes, you can use anything that outputs v/oct signals

    I'm using the Werkstatt-01 with the Arturia Beatstep Pro, but when I turn the VR5 I can't find any note where it doesn't move, I tried all the octaves. any suggestions?

    • @MoogSynthesizers
      @MoogSynthesizers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It has to either be the lowest possible note if the sequencer is unipolar, or the exact middle note if the sequencer is bipolar, and it typically will fall on a C.

  • @Synthelicious
    @Synthelicious 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    What is the actual difference between the vco lin en exp cv inputs?

    • @MoogSynthesizers
      @MoogSynthesizers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      They offer different responses to control voltages. Exponential scaling is used for 1V/Oct signals, so say feeding 2V to the exponential input results in a C, that means the C an octave above will be 4V, and the one above that 8V, etc. With that in mind, if you fed an LFO that operates from -5V to +5V into the exponential CV input, you would get an asymmetrical response where the higher voltages have a stronger effect on the pitch modulation. That same LFO fed into the linear CV input would yield a symmetrical response where the lower and negative voltages have the same strength of modulation as the positive voltages.

    Is it possible to calibrate Werkstatt to 0.5v/oct? (That's what Volca Modular outputs) Is it possible to link Volca Modular to Werkstatt?

    • @MoogSynthesizers
      @MoogSynthesizers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not sure about the Volca Modular aspect, but it's certainly possible to calibrate the Werkstatt to different scalings like .5V/Oct
