In my Music History 1: Early Music to Baroque class there were some excerpts of the Motet on Tenor Dominus, Fole Acostumance where the tenor sounded especially bright and clear. So much that it would grab a piano major's ear (me) who didn't listen to vocal music at all at the time. It grabbed my attention enough for me to look up who that tenor was nearly 7 years later. I must say, I really like Paul Elliot's voice.
Even among Mr. Elliott's body of beautiful work, this is very special and memorable, isn't it? I think I have a slightly better quality recording somewhere. Just gotta find it...
I think this the same version I first heard on an LP in university in the late 80s. In my mind it stands as the best vocal interpretation of this piece I've heard to date. Any chance that any of Paul Elliott's work is still available for purchase/download anywhere?

On the contrary! Thank you for posting this. I love Paul Elliot, and James Tyler.

Could someone tell me what the violin instrument in it is called?
I think that the strings playing in this piece are baroque violin, baroque viola, viola da gamba and violone.

Zanetti's version differs slightly in melody and has a different text from Giuseppino del Biado's original.
