- In the early 2000s, Epic records were on a roll. J.lo was selling a lot of records for the label and became the first female solo recording artist on Epic Records to achieve a number one album in the United States. Before J.lo joined Epic records, a female rnb group had the attention of the label, and they went by the name 3lw.
Before 3LW was formed, The group was just an idea in the mind of Kiely Williams. After noticing the success of groups such as Nsync and Backstreet Boys, She decided it was time to form a group of her own. Lucky for her she had connections. Her (legal guardian, Michelle williams)Mother/Sister worked in the entertainment industry, managing acts such as joe and jodeci. Auditions were held. Having had experience in the music industry, Kiely’s mom knew exactly what she was looking for and struck gold when she met Naturi naughton and Adrienne Bailon.

I remember going to Grad Bash my senior year in high school back in 2001 & it was 💣 I got to see Tyrese sing for the first time and 3LW was performing also. But they were lip syncing to their tracks and somehow the record started skipping and they were busted....baby they got booed so hard. Everyone left the area.

I do believe that Kevin & Wendy Williams instigated it and made the whole 3LW situation worse... but at the end of the day, the Williams family WERE the problem.... Or better yet, the LABEL were the problem, the INDUSTRY were the problem.
They didn't make it worse. It was already a bad situation and Naturi only went on Wendy's show to tell her side of the story. Wendy & Kevin were trying to help Naturi out with her career after she was kicked out of the group. Tse Williams is just mad because Wendy's show gave Naturi more exposure.

Great video, but 3LW as a group were pretty average IMO anyway. They were not bad, but not particularly unique either. At a time when you had far superior groups like DC, TLC and 702 still making hits, all of 3LW's songs sounded the same (that generic Early 2000s r&b/pop sound). I am honestly surprised that 2 decades later there is still so much chatter surrounding them on social media. I would've completely forgotten they existed if it wasn't for all the new TH-cam videos about their break up appearing every year.
