He doesn’t consider Wanda his mom because he doesn’t remember being Billy. He doesn’t remember anything at all before three years ago. He spent the last three years being loved and cared for by the Kaplans.
And how much time did Billy actually spend with Wanda? A few weeks?
@@bengilbert7655 not even a week probably like 4 days 😭 while he's with the Kaplans for 3 years.
Yeah @@bengilbert7655
Exactly this. Like if you think abt it they don't even share blood so honestly, I wouldn't see Wanda as my mom either. Not to mention she's maybe dead? So.
@@bengilbert7655just days the hex didn't last long
Patti LuPone already has three Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, and two Grammy Awards - and after this episode I can see an Emmy in her future. An electrifying, nuanced and compelling performance in an exquisitely written and directed episode.
Agreed, let's see her added to the list of EGOTs 😊
At the beginning when Lillia was falling you could see the fear in her face, but by the end she no longer had fear only peace! She learnt to embrace her true power and was able to save her Coven this time!!!! BEST episode yet!!!
Death doens't always means ends, it also means rebirth and new beginnings. I choose to think that she is finally living her full life all over again finally knowing the full picture.
I think it was supposed to insinuate that she knew how she’d die bc she saw it right before her first magick lesson.
Yeah I think that's what it means. For our timeline she's dead but for herself she can finally live a life that ain't disjointed
Yeah I think the gaps stop once she gets the glimpse of her hitting the swords then from there she gets to live it linearly, uninterrupted
All the women and Joe bonded hard as friends making this, they call themselves the Coven outside of the show and call each other Coven members. The women all feel very maternal and protective of Joe. Joe learned a lot of professionalism and getting straight down to business from them. As you know he was already an outstanding actor from 3 seasons of Heartstopper, but you can imagine with a bunch of mostly first time, teen, actors, apparently the Heartstopper cast faffed around a lot between takes.
can you imagine what he must have learned from those women? from the comedian, the sitcom queen, the "appears in every freaking show" actress, the Broadway legend, the freaky cult star, and the mistress of the comedy movie? OMG! Every casting director in the world will crawl over broken glass to get this kid now.
The Salem Seven just got Patti LuPwned!
Perfection
Loved this episode so much, Patti killed it and the writing was insane. I so can’t wait for next week BUT I’m so sad that it’s almost over!
I am obsessed with this episode, what an incredible half hour of writing and brilliance the end.
Five bodies fell on the swords.
I'm guessing the raven and the cicadas were able to fly away.
So there are 2 of the seven still out there.
Wasn't there an owl as well?
@strangeravensupreme good catch. Maybe the two birds survived? Or maybe they only showed 5, but all 7 were taken out?
Good catch, but there's enough ambiguity that they can play it either way.
@liamdamon no they are dead.
@Square-ow7oq yeah, I just read the Variety interview with Jaq Schaeffer, where she confirmed that they are all dead.
Lilia was Glenda the Good, and Jen is the witch from Snow White. Agatha is Elphaba.
youtube.com/@cathyy7130 Or Lilia's the fairy godmother from Cinderella. Then you have a witch from 4 stories - Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and The Wizard of Oz.
Lilia was Glinda the Good Witch from Wizard of Oz, Agatha was the Wicked Witch of the West (known as Elphaba in the Wicked-verse), Jen was the Evil Queen from Snow White in her Old Hag form, and Billy was Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.
I can be sketchy on time shifting episodes but this one was absolutely perfectly crafted. Every single thing is done for a reason and has a connection to either the current trial or piecing together her moments from the previous episodes. Patti LuPone made sure we knew that this was HER episode and it’s understandable why Joe said this was his favourite one. I don’t rewatch single episodes but I had to for this one because Lilia’s reading for herself gave me chills.
The Wizard of Oz nods still present once again like past episodes with Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West (not technically Elphaba like some would say, mainly because different studio owners lmao). Lilia also sort of acts like the Wizard in that she gives Agatha courage, Billy knowledge, and Jen compassion on their way through the door with the big green R behind it (👀).
Jen was indeed from Snow White and it’s interesting because her whole thing is beauty products and yet her true age might be showing here. I didn’t know this but Maleficent is a fairy not a witch, so maybe that was picked for Billy as a reason to show how he is “different” from the coven?
Can’t believe next week is the last two episodes, it’s gone so quickly 😭😭
The evil witch in Snow White is obsessed with youth and “fairness,” and she poisons young Snow White. Jen runs a beauty brand that has literally poisoned young women and landed her into legal trouble. Very fitting.
Billy is technically a fairy in the sense of that being a dismissive word once commonly used to belittle gay men.
@@767wattsy oh that’s true, I didn’t even make that connection
she still counts as a witch (if you're doing a google search for Classic Disney Witches)
I thought this episode was magnificent and one of the best installments of a TV series I've seen in a long time. Patti LuPone is an absolute legend.
Yeah, Jen's the Snow White witch with the Cosby apples.
We saw a blue hexagonal door open when Billy came running and screaming in fear. I'm wondering if this road is Billy's hex in some way. Wanda's hex also subconsciously emerged via trauma.
It was pentagonal, not hexagonal. 5 sides not 6. 5 witches in the coven, 5 trials, 5 elements. Rio and Sharon were never part of the coven in reality. It was Billy all along.
@@thuirthiawindsong that's true
@@thuirthiawindsong It was a pentagonal door, aside from that...
this is the first episode where i could not control the flow of tears, multiple times. the other deaths really bothered me and i tried thinking of every possible way to explain that they weren't dead. but the way this episode was constructed was repeatedly mind-blowing and heart wrenching.
breathtaking television tbh. Marvel made actual magic happen. 10/10
clinically depressed over the fact that we only get one season of the witches' road and the Harkness coven, tho...😥
i was already crying but when song hit i broke 😢
Funny how it looked like Billy unintentionally used probability hex when he wished for Lilia to be there. Like the luck turned to his side as he wished. Just like his mother.
The power to turn their goal into reality is the power he and Wanda shares.
Lilia is a 450-year-old Divination Witch who knows that much more of her life is behind her than lies in front of her.
Patti Lupone is a 75-year-old Theatre LEGEND.
.. think that over.
Great acting happens when you, and the character, share the same mind, body, and spirit.
The last episode had Evan Peters, then this ep has his song from his introduction into the X-men universe and it’s prob bc Billy is looking for Tommy.
The speedster.
Who takes after his uncle.
Quicksilver.
perfection. 😚👌💋
Hi Derrick. Just so you know Marvel has said that this show is the second part in a trilogy and Vision Quest ( I believe that's the name at least at this time) will be the last in the trilogy & that both Tommy and Billy would continue to be in this trilogy..
So I didn't watch this with subtitles on... But I totally heard Lilya say "When will it comfort me?" and that hit me so much harder, because that's where I'm stuck lol
Wow!
Die Folge war super!! Wir wissen immernoch noch so wenig über Agatha...Ich hoffe, dass wir in den letzten 2 Folgen viel über sie erfahren werden. Danke für.deine Reaktion.
Alice had also conquered her challenge and come to peace before she died. Jen showed real growth in this episode, showing care and compassion when Lilia was struggling, and insisting that Lilia leave the trial first. She was much softer and collaborative than in previous trials. Which makes me fear she will be next. It was interesting that Lilia told her to duck when Agatha called her a coward, so maybe Lilia can save Jen once again.
Lilia told Agatha to duck when she was called a coward, not Jen.
What a wonderful episode!
I counted five of the Seven were in the scene with the swords.
Rio did say he was "The Green Witch"
"the orginal green witch" is what she says
I can`t wait to see Aubrey Plaza`s full Death look.
The Tower is almost universally a 'bad' card to get in a reading. It's amazing to see it in the windfall position. "Miraculous transformation" is a bit vague for that card, the tower reversed is just as traumatic of a destruction as the fall of the upright tower, but it's internal. It's a complete breakdown of all that you know about yourself, the total abandonment of personal certainties and the destruction of the idea of self. To say that this is a windfall, an unexpected good fortune, is really something. I read it as, the destruction of the self will come at an opportune time and allow for the rebuilding of an even greater internal structure.
I think I was wrong for suspecting Jenn of being a killer or secret bad guy. If fact I hope I am wrong. Anyway, Patti showed why she is such a widely respected and admired actress in this episode! Lilia went out like a BOSS!! Looking forward to the finale.
Thank you, Derek! 🧙♀ Best episode for me, so far.
I love your review and your watch along and your cackling 😅
If you look again, you'll see Jen holding an apple. So yes, she is the Evil Queen from Show White
Convinced now Billy has created the Witches road, Its a legend. Like Wanda Wiccan can use Chaos Magic to create a reality. "Its just how I imagined" he starts every test.
He's spot on Agatha has not been on the road before because its just a legend.
She gets these Covens going pisses them off they fire spells at her take their powers then
Death comes along for the Bodies. She openly said in the basement about them just hitting her with magic. The Trailer shows Him and Agatha in what appears to be a black ops facility.
Notice the walls? its like the room Professor X uses to blank out the outside world.
Am I William or am i Billy? Am i wispy or am I cooky?
There's an interesting thing in Native American beliefs about queer people having 2 spirits. I wonder if they're going to resolve the William/Billy question that way.
This would be perfect because Billy's story is so trans coded
My theory is that Jen dies next , and Agatha dies in the final episode , protecting Billy from Rio ( DEATH ) . The main question placed by Rio in ep 1 was if Agatha will finally meet her end ... Well , Lilia's tarrot reading represents not only her story , but also THE WITCHES ROAD . The only card that overcomes all obstacles and is placed in the middle ( the end of the road ) is the TOWER REVERSED , so the only member of the coven that survives the road will be Billy ... Death is then placed on top , symbolising his fight against Rio in the near future ( which he survives- because he's reached the end of the road ) , but that in the end he will still die at some point like every other living being, so Rio is still the stronger entity ...
The TOWER REVERSED was not in the middle. The death card was put on top of the Queen of cups - the traveler card.
@@jholmes553 really ? Was the traveller not placed under the middle ( the beggining of the Journey ) ?
@@Stefan-oj6oz There will be two cards in the middle. For the traveler and the destination. Then five cards circling around it are for the ff: Missing, Path Behind, Path Ahead, Obstacle and Windfall.
The Tower Reversed card is the WINDFALL card. The Queen of Cups was the Traveler which represented Lilia. Death is the destination.
Both the Tower Reversed card and Death card represents transformation. And given that Lilia said: "I loved being a witch" at the very end, I think there are two paths for her.
Either she gets a Gandalf treatment, or she becomes a ghost (transformation) - the spirit that the ballad says will help them reach the end of the road.
@@jholmes553Oh you are right ! My bad ... but I still believe the ending will somewhat be what I predicted . Either Agatha sacrifices/ trades her own life to save Billy's , either they both escape . They will for sure fight Rio togheter . Death is not allowed to take Agatha , but Billy broke the rules by possesing a dead body and cheating death , so when she finds out who he really is , she will come for him ...
@@jholmes553And I would not be surprised if Agatha , remembering her child being taken by Rio , will decide to trade her life to save Billy's . Rio will accept the trade since she wants Agatha so much . This is my theory , or at least how I would probably end the show 😅
“He doesn’t consider Wanda as his mom anymore.”
He never did tho. He doesn’t have any memory of Billy in the hex nor William before the car crash.
He spent the last three years to figure out his identity while having Rebecca there as a caring mother already.
💛🥺
Ok my only thing is that Wanda had been searching for her kids since the hex came down. Wouldnt she have felt billy's soul in another body??
Viewers have hypothesized that part of the sigil’s role was to hide him from Wanda, too.
Sigil hides his identity from all witches, mommy dearest included
@@Grant-dx3qt totally forgot about that lol
