lyrics:
I walked across the green grass
To where I knew you laid
The way the sun was shining down
I only saw your shape
But, I need to tell you everything
Before it’s too late
That I don’t regret a single day
And you’re so beautiful
So take this part of me
Last in the middle
Making sure to breathe
One more time
The window
I saw you through the window
We locked eyes and the window
Was open, felt the wind blow
I saw you through it
How could I have known that
You wouldn’t come back home?
I sit down at the table
And I fiddle with the phone
I wish you were right next to me
Instead I’m alone
But, I’ll always have the memories
Of our life together
So take this part of me
Last in the middle
Making sure to breathe
One last time
The window
I saw you through the window
We locked eyes and the window
Was open, felt the wind blow
I looked in, and I felt you with me
Yeah, I felt you with me
When you waved your hand
I felt you with me
Sue, you’ll always be my girl
So take this part of me
Carry it with you
Wherever it leads
Don’t be scared
The window
I see you through the window
And when I sleep, the window
You’re here with me, the window
You’re in my dreams
The window
I see you through the window
And when I sleep, the window
You’re here with me, the window
You’re in my dreams
I feel you with me
Yeah, I feel you with me
When I close my eyes
I feel you with me - เพลง
WOW: “I wrote this song a few days after the death of my grandma in June 2020,” says Ratboys’ Julia Steiner. “She didn’t have COVID, but because of the pandemic my grandpa wasn’t able to visit her in person at the nursing home to say goodbye. He ended up standing outside her room and saying goodbye through an open window. A lot of the lyrics are direct quotes of things he said to her in those final moments.”
I already thought the song was good, but when I learned what it was about, it now hits like an emotional ton of bricks
@@The.Akademic the SAME. I seriously can't stop listening. Powerful stuff.
Wow. I already liked it but my god this turns the song into an emotional punch.
I...I should not have read this. 💔
That breaks my heart
Wow. Gen X-er here who can still be moved to tears by a new song. I'm floored. Keep doing what you are doing.
Anyone else hear a bit of Karen Peris of The Innocence Mission in this song?
absolutely Karen Peris
Idk how she can sing that song so perfectly live. Like I wonder if she had to practice not tearing up becauae I can't even listen to this song without getting emotional. Wasn't even. My grandpa but my friends grandpa who got covid in 2021 but we all called him grandpa and we would listen to music together and he loved the banjo. He was a good man. Thank you for writing amazing music
I lost my wife in December 2020. Similar story to Julia's grand mother. My wife suffered a stroke before the pandemic but because of the pandemic we we're only allowed visits through a window. She suffered more strokes during the time in the nursing home and eventually passed on Christmas day 2020. Thank you Julia for such a meaningful song.
❤
Easily one of the most beautiful songs of all time! Ratboys 4 EVER
Beautiful but I don’t know about “easily” 🧐
Im 60 yrs old, saw them open for the decemberists in atlanta and loved their set. I love this song especially. My closest friend died two days later, but life goes on for a while, and this song helps me feel that.
I just saw them open in Denver! I love their songs, I can’t wait till their songs get the attention they deserve
This mix of jangle pop guitars, a loud and noticable snare, and the slightly yodel like vocals made me think this was a song from 1990 when I was listening to it on the radio today. I thought this was Throwing Muses. This is really good.
This might be one of my favorite songs I've heard this year. HOW DO THEY DO IT
The genesis of this song is heartbreaking yet incredible...Great tune with a 1989 vibe with a hint of 94
HOLY SHIT this song is something else 😭♥️
I swear I've heard this melody somewhere before but idc this is crazy beautiful
Julia’s plaintive, almost breaking voice is always the hook in Ratboys songs and this time it digs in extra deep. That melodic breakdown @3:12 is going to be one of the ear worms of my summer.
Just picked up THE WINDOW..PRETTY IMPRESSED! Title track and Morning Zoo are outstanding tracks!
Congrats on Robert Plant discovering you at a Record Store and picking up the vinyl because he was so excited he told the owner to crank it up. I had to check it out. Really great vibe.
This song gutted me. I’ll be seeing them this summer and hope I make it through without bawling.
i'm not crying ur crying 🥺
Beautiful song, beautiful video, another Ratboys classic
Good song.
I love Female singers and she is One of the Best
I just read an article that said Robert Plant liked this song. Yes thee Robert Plant
Yeah, I just read that article too
I just read it too. The article brought me here.

At Madison’s B-Side Records ?
Rayboys just keeps getting better. Fuck this is a good song
Great song!
Beautiful song; see you at the Turf Club in October. :-)
really cool vid idea!
This is really good....
I watched the show in Ohio last Friday and honestly this is one of if not the best album I have heard.
welp, i'm going back to bed. 😢❤
Sounds at times like the chorus of Gin Blossoms Learning the Hard Way
was some of this shot in Austin? looks like Barton Springs pool and maybe McKinney Falls?
Primarily Austin - some out in Boerne, Texas as well.
Good catch! Even that really early concert footage of Ratboys at the beginning I believe was from their South by San Jose show.
Surprised I ain't got to pay for ads yet. Just too damn many.
That's heartbreaking.
i love this lol are the lyrics about a dog that ran away? or am i just stoned?
"i wrote it in the summer of 2020, a few days after my grandma passed away. she was living in a nursing home, but, due to the restrictions of the time, my grandpa couldn't visit her in person and instead had to say his goodbyes standing outside, talking through the open window of her room. the song tells that story through his eyes, using many of his words, and it’s dedicated to anyone out there who’s had to weather loss in strange ways, to share the strength of love in spite of separation." (from Julia)
Who’s here because Robert Plant likes these guys?
Melancholy is the new Nirvana
a lot of gezers my age say there's no great music any more...... listen
?
here to score
😄
mur-maid
Giving me early Taylor Swift vibes. They probably won't like hearing that, but it does. 🤷
The melody & her vocals...tell me that doesn't sound like early TS?
Although I do think the idea for the song is good, this song and band is probably the most boring, uncreative, monotone band and song I have ever heard. Put up a side by side of maybe U2, Men at work, the who, the cure, nirvana and this looks like something my kids did in the basement and I had to grin and bear it. Wow, if this is all this generation has then I feel very sorry for you all.
That’s just like, your opinion man
@@Corieoreo if this band went side by side to any of the bands I mentioned it would become fact.
@@coffeeis4closers Why the anger and meanness?
@@StopSayingLiterally not angry and mean just truth. Sometimes it hurts.
@@coffeeis4closers Truth, yet you like overwrought "singers" like Bono, Robert Smith, and Roger Daltrey? LOL. Typical internet tough guy. My generation (I'm 65) is filled with bitter old cranks like you. Clinging to the past because you're out of touch with (real) modern life. Seriously, why be an asshole? What's in it for you? Do you know what a fact is?
