Congrats to my fellow Illinoisans. Here's to your continued success. Only just found out about you thanks to Robert Plant asking about your music in a Madison music store.
I swear KEXP and Audiotree just knows what I've been listening to. Whenever I find a new band to obsess over, they upload a new video just weeks after
Amazing you find it before time! They are my guide
Aside from having the album of the year, this band is just so damn endearing in every way. Rooting for them so hard, they deserve all the happiness and accolades.
I just saw them open up for The Decemberists. So good!
Same! Great energy.
Black Earth, WI is the song of the decade!

We've recently had the privilege to open for Ratboys. They were so good, and really friendly!
Cheryl Waters always bringing the best to the program
Music Mother to the world
They made it to KEXP! Been waiting years for this!
I saw them open up for PUP almost 5 years ago. Been a fan ever since. Love to see them whenever they generate some buzz.
@@joecormier4242 this is also the first time I heard Ratboys, opening for PUP. really happy to see them moving up in the world
With no exaggeration and only the fullest of sincerity, ratboys is one of the best live bands working today. Every set is 10/10. The sheer musicianship on every song, ugh, so good. Black Earth, WI’s outro is just bliss. And they sound awesome here on KEXP!
I saw them live for the second time over the summer and they are amazing live! wished I could have come back the next day I was so fired up
As always, the drummer is on a different planet !! Wonderful set Ratboys and KEXP thanks a million.
Late to them but I’m obsessed. New favorite band.
Their album last year was flawless. Julia's got such a great voice and "Black Earth, WI" is especially next-level--just a masterclass in keeping an instrumental break / guitar solo interesting.
Black Earth, WI was my favorite track of 2023
I hope Ratboys receive the same attention this year that boygenius received last year. Ratboys, as a band, are so underrated. Keep up the good work! Thank you KEXP.
Fantastic performance and a superb album. It's inspiring when a talented, hard-working band gets the attention they deserve.
let me thank the ratboys for their music
You are welcome.
Ok, you can proceed with thanking them now.
Te quiero mucho Ratboys
Happy New Year! I'm older, balder, gayer, wiser, and I'm here, queer, and _ready_ to hear!
Her explanation of the song the window is so touching I could cry
I did.
Great, amazing band! Much love from Switzerland ❤❤❤❤
No.1 album of last year ♡
They're having so much fun & so am I! Thanks, ratboys
Killer set - affecting sound, sick vibe. Great chat too - KEXP is a treasure, and this is no doubt, another band to keep watchin.
Great pocket drummer
Wow! I remember seeing Ratboys play a show with my friends, The Rutabega at a Notre Dame dorm room years ago!
I'll be watching this session for years! Thanks KEXP for being part of the Rise of Ratboys! I am looking forward to one day following their fascinating footsteps. The Window was the best album of the year!!
They are magnificent. You can hear their warmth, happiness and bond permeating the sounds
Notice Julia's smile at 12:20 as she realizes that the following 9 minutes will be a pure bliss!
First time hearing them and now I’m a forever fan!
Hell yeah! Was so excited when this popped up on my frontpage
They opened for Guster in Ft. Collins, CO in November 2022 and they were awesome. Was my first experience with them. Much success in the future!
I listened once... mixed feelings, twice.. Liked more. Third time through and I really enjoyed this set. So glad that KEXP introduced me

Bob mould reminiscence. 🤟
One of the best records of the year for sure!
New band to me, excellent. Reminded me a bit of Hopalong.
The Window was a recent find and is one of my top albums of the year. The band's work with Chris Walla is magic. Hope to see y'all in Austin at some point in '24.
17:17 dude nailed the assignment
In on name alone
We need more Dinosaur Jr.-esque epic jam solos!
Julia's got a Rutles badge on, the Prefab four, that's so funny! Thank's Julia you made my day. Keep Calm and Barry Wom.X

Not Sean wearing a Katya shirt! 💀
Seen them live like 7 years ago in a little venue in Turin Italy great band
okay but what's Cheryl's favourite kind of bean? How about her favourite volcano?
Always appreciate a country rhythm guitar intro
ratboys imho
Ratboys forever 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Cool
I like name of the band, because own rat. It's a girl, but Ive been owned two ratboys some time ago
BEWARE: DO NOT WATCH IT! I randomly watched this a few months ago and I cannot listen to anything else other than these ratboys ever since
She reminds me a lot of Victoria Williams. They both have that little twang in their voice.
DON'T THINK IVE HEARD A BAD BAND OR ARTIST HERE...
