I have this machine but it is currently residing upstairs un-used due to COVID-19. My husband is using my sewing table as a study desk as there are three of us working from home at the moment. I have to say I initially upgraded my 20+year old but barely used machine with a Brother Innov 35, but after a couple of years quilting was treated by my husband to this one. I love it and can't wait to get back to sewing. I have a RMF sewing table and the machine sits within it so I have a flat sewing bed. I love the table as well because it is quite tall and excellent for cutting out at.
Hello Lauren, Thank you for this video appraisal, so very comprehensive and honest. I too do mostly garment sewing but have recently began to investigate quilting, so your video has helped me to make up my mind about which machine I need.
SandyC. Thank you for the informative video about the Brother Innovis VQ2. I have always had Brother sewing machines and needed to upgrade my machine. Your video helped me to decide that this was indeed the machine for me. Hope they give you the machine as a thank you for your efforts.
I would like to ask you , whenyou have time for it, if you could make a video showing how to insert a zipper with a fly.I appreciate your way of explaining very much.Thank you for making me dream with a future sewing machine!Just hoping to be an intermediate sewer soon for a maschine upgrade.😘😘😘
Many thanks for this review Lauren....I am in the market for a new machine and I am seriously considering this one as I don't want to spend more than I need to but also don't want to to find I should have spent more for certain features. This machine seems to have everything I am likely to need and is therefore worth it's price tag. thanks again. Gilly wife of Mark
Hi Lauren, brilliant guide to this Brother machine 👌...it would be a dream machine for me I'm sure, as I sew clothes and make quilts 😁. I have some saving up to do 😉💖😘
Hello, are you still happy with your vq2 brother? I want to buy a new machine and have been very disappointed with Pfaff. I have an innovis 35 for 7 years, no problem! Thank you for your feedback! Have a nice day.
Hello, my machine has a button that just stitches on the spot as well, its the one with the empty circle on it that is the very left top button. The reverse is the one with the 'n' shape arrow that is just below it :)
@@LaurenGuthrieGhani hi I’ve checked and I only have the ‘n’ button but it doesn’t reverse just goes up and down in the one spot. My machine is an Innovis QC-1000 Quilt Club from Brother.
Hello, have you double checked that the bobbin thread was wound on correctly with the thread under tension in the tension disc? Is the bobbin been inserted the correct way around so that the thread runs off it the right way? Has the whole bobbin mechanism then pulled the thread up through the plate of the machine so you can see the thread diagonally stretched over the bobbin? These would all be things I'd try in the first instance along with machine sure the top thread has been threaded when the needle is in the highest position. I hope that helps :)
Hello, I have to admit, I don't really do much maintenance myself and have never oiled it in the approx 3 years I've had it but I can see some little holes on the top that look like they are for oiling so I'm sure its pretty easy to do :)
Hi Lauren - Thank you for a great video. Would it be possible for you to show on video, how to sew a round project at this maschine? I just bought this lovely maschine but as a beginner I find It difficult to sew a curved projjects. :)
Hi Lauren, Thank you for your review of this machine. I know you said that you have not done much with the embroidery of this machine, but do you know if the lettering on this machine can fill in the wider letters with a satin stitch?
@@LaurenGuthrieGhani Thank you so much for answering! Now I have another question. I actually own the Laura Ashley Innov-is NX2000 model which I have been told is the American model of the one you are reviewing here. I cannot find any information on how to download upgrades for my model, as it does not even show up on the Brother site. Do you know if it truly is the same model and if the software would be interchangeable ?
@@debm6507 Hi Debe, I'm afraid I don't know. I would recommend trying to get in touch with Brother themselves to find out. I'm sure they have a customer enquires email address or maybe an online contact form you could use. Good luck!
I haven't actually used it for that but I think it would be pretty good as it has such a long arm so plenty space to move your project around. I have done free motion quilting on Brother machines on lower grade models and its been really good.
Hello, yes I have used it to make a quilt. For sewing the patchwork bits together I used a 1/4" foot and for doing the actual quilting of the layers I used a walking foot. Both are additional accessories that don't come with the machine anyway as far as I can remember :)
hello very beautiful sewing machine please kindly film how to operate the sewing machine electric foot pedal and how to unplug the sewing machine electric foot pedal and use only the start stop button to sew please ok?please kindly reply back ok?thank you very much
Hi Frank, I'm not able to add anything further to this specific video, but its really easy to use the start stop button. Simple pull out the wire that connects the machine to the foot pedal and press the start stop button. As you are sewing it is useful to use the speed function to control the speed of the stitching for more accuracy and control as you sew. If you are using the foot pedal, have it so that it is angled upward. Your heel should rest on the floor and your foot angled upwards, in the same way a foot pedal in a car is used. I hope that helps!
Ahahah how rude are you!? Why would you think that someone with an unfamiliar-to-you accent shouldn't make a video? Baffling why you would comment this

After seeing your video I have ordered the Brother VQ2. It arrives in a couple of days. I would like to know if it comes with a walking foot.
Is this a high or low shank sewing machine
I would love this machine, but can’t find it in the states.
I have a very similar version Brother and I’m confused about the reverse button. Mine just goes up and down in the one place. Is this right?

Lauren, do you find you to use stabiliser on, say, cotton lawn with this machine?
Hello, no for cotton lawn I don't use stabiliser unless its called for in the pattern, for example on buttonbands and collars/cuffs
Hi Lauren,
The bottom tension on my machine is loose when I am free motion quilting how do I fix that?
