Some albums in the month of July that really impressed me were as follows: - Mayhemic - Toba: amazingly fast yet dynamic blackened thrash metal from Chile. Seriously, this thing is nuts! - Ironflame - Kingdom Torn Asunder: another solid US power metal album from Andrew D’Cagna of Nechochwen fame! It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it really doesn’t have to. - Mothman and the Thunderbirds - Portal Hopper: What an impressive album! This is like if Tupperware Remix Party went heavy. it had so many different influences from so many different genres of music that you just have to listen for yourself.
Third album from Aussichtslos. Marching, melodic black metal from Austria, as good as their previous two records. This is what i recommend from July, or maybe last days of June.
Surprised there wasn't a video on A Wake in Providence. The album was a really solid record of symphonic blackened deathcore with operatic elements and an interesting concept behind it. I also rather enjoyed Graphic Nature's album.
Every single year it's like there is so many good metal albums in October please start talking about good metal next month tho and yes I have something more something of a idea of what you should talk about
Seth - "Le Frances Des Maudits" French Black Metal (Season Of Mist) Akhlys - "House Of The Black Geminus" US Black Metal (Debemur Morti) These are the two best Black Metal LPs to drop in July
Another 4.5 for Krallice, in my opinion. It's an incredible record for sure. It's probably my 5th or maybe even 4th favourite of theirs. Definitely ordering it on order! Mass Cathexis 2 was high up, but after revisiting all of their albums, it's at 7th or 8th, but still a low 4.5 (leading to 4 for me). I think, I've given them four-five 4.5's at this point, and two 5's. At worst a 3.5, but that's maximum 2-3 albums for me. They're so damn consistent. How come you keep "missing out" on them (kidding), hehe? Please review all of their albums! My favourites are Crystalline Exhaustion, Years Past Matter, Ygg Huur and Dimensional Bleedthrough, but I like all of their albums. Dimensional Bleedthrough would be my favourite if it wasn't for 'Untitled'. Even at this point, everything from Demonic Wealth to Inorganic Rites is very great to incredible!
The album I was most looking forward to this past month was, of course, Powerwolf - Wake Up the Wicked, and it's everything I've come to want and expect a Powerwolf album to be. It's epic, it's cheesy, it's bombastic, but it also has some extra melodic fair with the band dipping their toes a little more into history. I don't think it'll be for you, since Power Metal isn't your jam (which is fine, obviously!), but if you're curious, I say there's no reason not to give it a chance. Other than that, there's the punch, aggressive beat down of Nu core band Graphic Nature with their new album "A Mind Waiting to Die" that needs a hell of a lot more love. There's oldschool Death Metal bangers Cryptic Hatred with "Internal Torment", which finally gave me the riff-based brutalism that I look for in Death Metal, and Obscene with "Agony & Wounds" with a touch more black metal influences. But yeah, overall, July has been a bit of a dry spell, but there's been enough good albums to get me through, personally. Plus Gojira's Olympic performance \m/
That Powerwolf album helped to save July for me. Lots of good up tempo anthemic songs, the kind of album I've been wanting them to make for a while now.
Cool to hear a name-drop for Vulture Industries. I got no opinion on any of these albums mentioned today, but a couple sounding interesting. never really got into Kralice butI hve tochck out progressive black metal bands because I just never know if they'll be my cuppa goatsblood.
Krallice, Powerwolf, Vulvodynia, Diocletian, Visions of Atlantis, Wormed, Orden Ogan, Orange Goblin... Yeah, July was a pretty great month for me. June was almost dead, I only cared about Wraith.
Understandable July was pretty mid. I remember listening to the 1st minute from that flat black album on TH-cam and then yawned and listened to something else instead immediately. Krallice is always interesting, you never know in which direction they’ll go. I REALLY liked What A Time To Be Alive but From The Cave To The Grave wasn't AS good as WATTBA but still cool... This new werewolves feels like a worthy part two of WATTBA... just my opinion

Kryptos is amazing Werewolves is insanely good Category 7 is fine Octoploid great debut Summoning The Litch maybe their best album yet Flat Black GARBAGE
Kryptos is pretty awesome - glad to see them getting recognition, even with some criticism thrown into the mix. Yeah their stuff does sometimes blend together, but it's not really that much of an issue if pure heavy metal goodness is what one wants. Not thought-provoking but definitely has headbang-inducing properties🤘
Lol I love paul dianno, easily my favorite maiden singer but the dude should've retired in the early 00s. I'll give it this though, Warhorse isn't as bad as his comeback show at keep it true in 2022
@themetalmeltdownofficial his set at KIT was like a day after he got out of a Croatian hospital then had to haul ass to Germany. I'm pretty sure he was also drunk. Genuinely some kf the worse live footage this side of motley crue, especially since the festival live streamed the entire set
So are Ivan Moody and Zoltan Bathory the only people capable of writing a hook in Five Finger Death Punch? Its insane how hard Jeremy Spencer and Jason Hook fell off after quitting that band. Flat Black is also one of the worst band names I've ever heard. I guess all the cool names really are taken
99% of the times you say that something is "Boomer Metal" i end up really enjoying it. So Category 7 SHOULD be a slam dunk, right? My final veredict is gonna be after listening to the whole record. But the single i checked out is Meh City. You go from this great Thrashy Groovy (kinda repetitive) intro build up to verses that honestly sound like they're from another song. WTF!? 🙈
Category 7 was such a disappointment. John Bush is one of my favorite metal vocalists and on paper with a line up like that it sounds right up my alley. But man that album is overproduced, too bombastic and the songs sounded too inconsistent to me...
For me, I surprisingly like Flat Black but do understand that it’s not gonna be for everyone and that Category 7 and Summoning The Itch album was really good too.
This was actually pretty solid July for metal. July is usually quiet but this month had at least a few a week.

Ironflame - Kingdoms Torn asunder

One of my favorites of the month was Morbus Grave - Feasting the Macabre. Simple, dirty, groovy Italian death metal.
Duality by Defacement was a nice surprise; being a fan of FoH, krallice, Imperial Triumphant one can see tinges of influence
Oh? Sounds cool, gonna check that out.
Defacement is so fucking good
That Krallice is killer. I'm late to this band, loving this new direction. Early stuff is more straightforward I take?
No, not really lmao. I mean, maybe? Depends on the album. Definitely check out more of their stuff though.
