    Lovely! I found this while looking for what traditional fairy cakes look like. These are much nicer than just dipping in icing and adding sprinkles.

    Ooh these are butterfly cakes for grown ups. I remember watching my mum make these and I’ve made some with my granddaughter. There are lots of memories for these Geoff for most people I would think.

      HI Wendy. I imagine your granddaughter enjoyed making them with you, and then getting to sample them too.

    A flock of those for an afternoon garden tea would be very rewarding for sure... we have a few warm days left and they would be fun to have... some with strawberry jam and some with the old faithful lemon curd that I just love. Thank you Geoff... I might even find a stray neighborhood little one to share with if I look hard enough... If not, I know a few big neighbors who would help me eat them.

      HI Julie-Joy. Yes very good for afternoon tea. Just have a net ready for when you see a butterfly flutter by.

    Great recipe Geoff and they also remind me of my childhood. My Nan used to cook them and put lemon curd in them instead of the butter cream. Lovely!

    My mother used to put up a batch of these when the relatives came calling 😃 Good to see jam here. The ones I see around now don't always include that
    My wings need a bit of work but that's an excuse to make them again 😃

    You do them a lot neater than I do my wings are more like fallen angels 😂😂😂🍰💕love the twist with the jam... I still like butter cream as well. 👍🍰💕

    • @geoffsbakingblog
      @geoffsbakingblog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Henrietta. It took me a while to work out how to put the wings on the first one, as you may have noticed. I love buttercream too, but had fresh cream in the fridge that needed to be used.

    Brilliant video Geoff. What temperature do you bake at? Do you use a fan oven?

    • @geoffsbakingblog
      @geoffsbakingblog  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jeanette9Mck. Thanks very much. I preheated the oven to 180C/160C Fan/350F. You can use the conventional oven or the fan. I used the fan. For info, if you miss the oven temperature in the video you can always click SHOW MORE below the video and see the clickable chapters, one of which will always be 'preheat the oven'.

    Hi Geoff, these cakes look amazing... I have a question about the flour
    I have now weighed 115Grams of this, do I now need to add the 1&half spoons of flour to the 115grams
    Wasn't to sure hope you dont mind me asking
    Kind Regards
    Darren

    • @geoffsbakingblog
      @geoffsbakingblog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      HI Darren. The flour i used was self raising flour. If you have self raising flour you just need 115g and then you need 2g(1/2 tsp) baking powder. However if you only have plain flour then you need 115g of that and 2 tsp(8g of baking powder). The extra baking powder will turn the plain flour into the equivalent of self raising flour.

    Hi Geoff those look yummy. If I was to make a chocolate alternative. How much cocoa powder would I need? I see you dont have a chocolate muffin recipe. Thanks from Zenab

    • @geoffsbakingblog
      @geoffsbakingblog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Zenab. If you take replace 25g of flour with 25g of cocoa powder that should work fine. I have some muffin recipes which use chocolate/cocoa powder in combination with other flavours or fillings.
