this movie was so good because it didn't force a romantic subplot, wasn't about a princess, and showed a person's interest could really make a big difference, and that a boy's passion could really help
That is why I get Imagi Studios vibes from Treasure Planet. Mostly because it flopped at the box office, like Astro Boy. Either way, TP and AB are the best films I have ever watched.
I don't get why this movie didn't get more love. It's probably because it wasn't another princess movie. It tried to be its own thing, and got shit on for it.
In November 2002, I had to go through surgery, and the pain was unbearable. As I recovered, I listened to a sample of the movie's music (given out via Mighty Kids Meals at McDonald's), and it was so epic it took my mind off the pain.
I'm not gonna quantify music in a movie with a percentage, but I will say this: music is what can make the difference between a good movie and a fantastically incredible amazing movie.
I keep coming back to this. With movies like Treasure Planet and Spirit it is a seperate task to listen to the full soundtrack. When you watch a movie it is easier to focus on the movie itself rather than the music. It was when I listened to this seperate soundtrack that I realized what a masterpiece it is. The soft parts to allow dialogue, the guitar that comes in the second Jim leaves the ship, the way it builds up and creates that excitement, that climax. And of course the way the victorious and happy feeling music right after. The soundtrack for this movie was so well done. Though of course everyone wishes for this movie in general to get more attention, I hope those who do realize how good of a movie it is paid attention to the soundtrack as well.
To me, it's just amazing that when you listen to the music without all the voices and sound effects, it sounds much more epic than it does with all the voices and sound effects!
I think this movie is the best movie of all. Why did not important this movie in Japan. I'm Japanese people,But I love this movie very much!!! ...sorry, I can not speak English. I think My English is not good. 英語難しいな。
+俺の脳内選択肢が学園ラブコメを全力で邪魔している Don't worry mate, I'll be exactly like you if I had to speak japanese, it will be bad, but good enough as to be understood :D
Am I the only one who has the amount of euphoria from this music that makes me feel i can jump of a building and not be hurt? It gets me through the toughest of times :)
Such a unique concept and universe that I would have loved to see more of. Sailing ships in space using solar sails and space pirates. I thought it was absolutely brilliant and the combined the sci fi and discovery era so well. I've heard people complain about the combination but they're boring people who stick with a set style.
Music is 90% of any film... seriously, you can take the crappiest actor and make him seem a thousand times better if you choose the right music to fit the scene. I really like film music!
Dr. Doppler is my favorite Disney princess
"Silver, you gave up!?"
"Ah, just a lifelong obsession Jim, I'll get over it."
Aloha jimmy!!
this movie was so good because it didn't force a romantic subplot, wasn't about a princess, and showed a person's interest could really make a big difference, and that a boy's passion could really help
And that some people are worth abandoning a life-long obsession over
100% agree

Jim was the badass we all secretly wished we could be as kids
I don't get why this movie didn't get more love.

Agreed, this film kicked so much ass by not being a predictable "hero saves the damsel" film - it had f*cking space pirates!
Fuck yeah Space pirates!
Disney didn't want to make more expensive movies like Treasure Planet, so they sent it out to die.
@AT Productions this
this movie is an underdog
people just hate it cause it not another TYPICAL AS FUCK princess movie

Love it when the electric guitars come in. It really symbolizes Jim's unconventional character, and his selflessness.

This is the best soundtrack ever. Its composed by one of the best composers in my opinion.
If Disney will make a live action of this movie, I couldn't survive to this fucking epic climax. What a ride!
