MEAD VALLEY: Man Gunned Down After Auto Theft

On Monday, August 12, 2024, at 8:32 a.m., Perris Sheriff’s Station deputies were dispatched to a reported vehicle theft in the 19000 block of Summerwind Trail in the unincorporated community of Mead Valley. As deputies were responding to the call, they were advised that a Hispanic male related to the call for service had been shot at the intersection of Cajalco Road and Haines Street. Before deputies arrived, citizens had stopped and attempted lifesaving measures on the shooting victim. Unfortunately, the victim was later pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The decedent was identified as 29-year-old Jose Eduardo Del Real, a resident of Perris. No arrests have been made at this time.
