Early On August 5, 2024, Cal Fire, Riverside County, Moreno Valley and California highway Patrol, Riverside responded to a reported car that went off the freeway and slammed into a tree at Wb 60 and Day Street in Moreno Valley. When the first arriving units got on scene, they found a Dodge Charger that had exited the freeway, went down an embankment and slammed into a tree. The lone occupant of the car was trapped. Firefighters used technical tools to extricate the man from the vehicle in an extended extrication operation. The man was transported to a local area hospital, suffering from severe, but non-life-threatening injuries. Drowsy driving is believed to be the reason the man crashed. According to the man, he was driving from Arizona to Lancaster and as he was traveling down the 60, he veered off the road. Drugs or alcohol were not involved.
