You should watch the live version you can actually hear all the army and watch right to the end as army end the song. Its so wonderful.

This song is all about the lyrics. The song is beloved by Army because it is so meaningful and the words are so beautiful. It was written mostly by Jungkook the youngest member of BTS for Army and is like a big giant hug. He is basically saying that he knows that sometimes things are hard and he encourages us to sit quietly, look up at the stars, drink a warm cup of tea, listen to some music and remember to show yourself the same amount of love and grace that you show to him and BTS. The Magic Shop (BTS music and your own heart) is the place you go to trade in your fears for peace and positivity. That is my take on the song anyway!!
"Magic Shop" is the title of an autobiographical book and this is a real psychotherapeutical instrument for mental healing.
While JK created the basis of the song there are a lot of other writers on the song like the rapline.
But, yeah, absolutly about lyrics.
I think jk is the main producer of this song with others.

A quick look tells me that Hiss Noise and ADORA also have production credit.
Credits are a tricky thing and far more comlicated than it sounds at first reading.
But yes: they always emphesis JK's work on this song!

@@ruthfischer7615 no idea if adora is credited or not but candace(dj swavell's frnd) is the main writer with others and jk is the main producer with others.I saw a video where candace herself admitted that she wrote the song in english then they converted into korean with some additions and she also said that jk produced the song. The lyrics and production are masterpieces. And it's ok if they point out jk bcz others are always there but it makes us proud when bts's members takes part in the production.

I love this song. The fact that JK wrote it for army makes it very special. It talks about how there will always be that special bond and that special place where army and BTS can be together. As many have already said, the live version is amazing. Their connection with the audience is fun, exciting and gives you the warm fuzzys. The 'so show me' section has become somewhat of a constant call out between BTS and ARMY, and never ceases to touch my heart. Thank you for your reviews. I really enjoy them.

Magic Shop is from BTS's 2018 album Love Yourself: Tear, so it's actually 5 years old, not 2 years old. The FMV you watched takes clips from a number of their older music videos which had a story arc in an alternate reality, as well as some clips from some of their solo songs.
Magic Shop is one of their songs that speaks specifically to ARMY. Jungkook, the youngest, was one of the co-writers for this song. When they perform this song on stage, the interaction between the group and ARMY is just unreal.

I really do love that "boy band" to you (and a lot of us) ISNT DEROGATORY. As much as some ARMY don't like that term, BTS has used that term for themselves in the past. It's OK that they are a boyband, they may be more than that to some but they are also that. Keep going dude, I know you ask sometimes for other suggestions but these guys have 300+ songs among them and even more content. You can spend YEARS and not see it all. Keep going they're amazing and something very very special

Thank you so much for a great reaction - love that you're listening to B-sides, and your vocal and production insights are really cool! One of the things I love most about BTS songs is how they don't go in expected directions so often. This was produced by the youngest member, Jungkook, and the concept is from a book by a Stanford professor regarding the Magic Shop technique.
Agree with others watching the live is incredible, and this is fan-made vid mostly from various other music videos.

Many mentioned that it’s a FMV. For their official ones I think is best to watch on the official BH channel. Plus you support our OT7 that way ❤ and everyone is right that the live version just hits you in the right feels❤

Yes, it is a song for ARMY. It's about finding a safe place (magic shop) inside oneself to face negative feelings such as fear and trauma. I believe it is based on a book called Into the Magic Shop: A neurosurgeon's true story of the life-changing magic of mindfulness and compassion.
The lyrics are a MASSIVE part of what we love about BTS and what makes them so extraordinary. This is not something you can say about many boy bands or even just artists in general. Their music resonates so deeply with so many of us because it's a profound exploration of so many aspects of humanity and life - society, oppression, youth, loneliness, friendship, love, loss, anxiety, self-reflection, hope... yes it's great music and incredibly diverse and well-made, but the lyrics they write and stories they tell are one of the most sacred and special things about BTS. It doesn't matter that so many of us don't speak or understand Korean; we have so many translations available to us by amazing selfless translator fans that help us understand the depth of their words.
Magic Shop is about finding your safe place so that you can face your fears, traumas, etc.
The call and response "So show me, I'll show you" with BTS and army (audiences) is so much better hearing/seeing it live on top of their live vocals. Can't wait to see you react to the live version.
As others have pointed out, this is a song created for lives, a love letter to us fans ("Army"). You have to watch a live performance of it to understand. The song just gains a whole other level during their concerts!!!

Ok, you're too cute with your shy interpretation! Don't be embarrassed. I love that you are reacting honestly. But make sure that you are watching official MV unless you want to watch fan made videos. You will know it's official because HYBE will be the channel and you'll always see the Big Hit intro to an official music video. Like someone else said, live is really great because of the call back with Army. Can't wait for the next one!

Like everyone has been saying, this song is better live and it has no official mv. We are failing you. 😂 Written for the fans, classic call and response. Really amazing to see the fan interaction with BTS it is very different than Western music. Can't wait for you to see that.

Thanks for the reaction. The one you should have watched is the live version. If an ARMY asked you to watch it, I’m pretty sure that’s what they meant. But wonderful reaction still. This was just clips of other videos mashed together fanmade. Magic Shop doesn’t have a music video. The live of this is wonderful because it is song made for ARMY so they always get ARMY involved and do really cute things in the live.

Also JHope was the one that didn't rap at 1st but Suga was the ones who parents didn't want him to pursue music even throwing his stuff away. But he proceeded behind their backs and eventually except him and support him.

This music video is a fan edit. It is also an older song from 2018. From what I heard this song is part of an arc where BTS was preparing to enlist for their mandatory military service following their Love Yourself tour 2018-2019. But then the pandemic happened in 2020 so their pivot to DYNAMITE and the rest is history. But going back to it being a preparation to say goodbye to their fans, the magic shop is about having a place inside each of us where we can retreat into and become rejuvenated. That place is ARMY for BTS and BTS for ARMY.

Suga is the one whose parents didn’t want him to rap, but he has always been amazing at rap. The one that taught himself is J-Hope, who was originally a dancer, and since he was gonna be a part of the band, it was one of two choices you’re gonna be rapping or vocal line and he fits better in the wrap line so he taught himself how to rap. Show this song is a very very personal and emotional song for both BTS and army because they still hadn’t learned to love themselves yet and if you read their book, you’ll learn more about some of the top tough times they were going through and they were thinking of breaking up and, this was about opening up a spot in yourself that you could just be happy and and basically realize that you’re enough and you’re loved and that because we gave BTS everything and made them the best they could be that we also deserve to give ourselves everything so that we can be the best that we can be

I think this is a fan-made video with this song. There isn’t an official MV, but they have some great live performance videos with English subtitles. It’s awesome how they interact with their fans in concert, as Magic Shop was a song written for ARMY by Jungkook. It’s just so sweet.💜

One of my favorite bts songs. Their music is art if you look up the meaning to the lyrics even just for this song you will realize how artistic they are and how deep the meaning of their songs are. That is why we are Army. This song is based on a memoir book of a neurosurgeon titled “into the magic shop” with thoughts of how Army is making them the best so we should make a better version of ourselves also. BTS especially Rm and Suga are wide readers and their lyrics always need explanation not because of the language but because of the metaphor they use. There’s a video called writing styles of BTS members if you have time to watch it I’m sure you will appreciate them more as an artist.

this track is the first track where songwriting and production was headed by Jungkook, it's his first proper introduction into the 'behind the scenes' of music. it's also a fan song and live performances of it are amazing, I get chills every time.

Magic Shop in particular is beyond special live. Their sincerity on stage and ability to connect with the audience is unparalleled. Full stop. BTS is exceptional in so many ways. It goes so beyond their vocal abilities.

This is a compilation of scenes from other videos. Yes this is a song for Army, it was Jungkook's idea. You may not know this yet, but they also release the fan chants for their songs, so during live performances the audience sings certain parts as well, or responds to the group. So it's worth watching live recordings from concerts. In this one, the audience chants back 'I'll show you'. Fake Love is also a great one to watch a live recording of, because of the crowd participation.
Live version is amazing.
The MVs are great and always worth watching but you may want to watch live performances too. That is where they really shine because they really are a performance group. Plus, there are many, many songs that have no MV but are real gems. If you have time I also recommend some award show performances...chef's kiss!!
