Gentiles are non-believers. When we come to Messiah and keep YHWH's commands, we are grafted in and no longer gentiles.

Entirely Biblically honest, all we NEED to observe Passover like God created & how Jesus did, is unleavened bread, wine, & lamb & bitter herbs.
All the other stuff is jewish tradition, who don't even celebrate Passover on the correct date. 🤷🏼‍♀️

YES! SOOO happy you are doing this! What a blessing 🙏🏼💗 thank you. Can’t wait to see your Seder!!! Our family background has been very culturally based meaning Easter is the bunny, egg hunts and maybe church etc and for last few years my heart has been pulled toward Jesus,a more authentic way of celebrating but it’s just me... hoping my husband and kids can move closer to Jesus in the way we worship and live. Getting a glimpse of how you do this will be so helpful. Thank you for this 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Thank you for sharing. Very thorough in your explanation. This is such a special time. Our family keeps it simply: bitter herb- parsley and horseradish, matzo, and lamb shank. We couldn't find an explanation in the scripture for the egg and other things so we chose to leave them out. Have a blessed day.

Spelt & oatmeal do not have leaven. Unless you have turned them into sourdough in someway, or added yeast to them. Otherwise, they are just a grain.

I'm a trucker and know noone else that believes in keeping the Holy days, but i finally got through to my sis and nephew and we're going to keep it this year.

Nice to see someone else "sanctifying the time." We're Orthodox Christian homeschoolers and we also have a very rich tradition of feasting, fasting, and festivals that bring so much depth to everything. We have Pascha (Greek for Passover) that we celebrate at the end of Great Lent and Holy Week.

Sell it to someone who is not celebrating. My Jewish Aunt would sell her cabinets with dishes that weren’t kosher for Passover, taping them up and hoping to buy them back for same price after the week of Unleavened bread. I’ve seen them do the same with food.
But Yes the Lord knows your heart.

The calendar that Christians go by for Easter and the Hebrew calendar are both lunar calendars. However, they are different. Every seven years the Hebrew calendar adds an extra month to make sure they have enough days in the year. This was the year that they added the calendar month. Therefore, the holidays are so far apart this year.

    I need help.
I think of myself as biblically literate but most of the people I know are traditionalists - which is to say that traditions are their “fall back position”. Anyone who tries to “get too biblical” is written off as a nut case.
I agree with the colonists of Plymouth Plantation (1620) that Confession, Penance, Confirmation, Ordination, Marriage, Confession and Last Rites are not sacramental (are not conduits or vehicles of God’s grace) are human inventions, have no scriptural basis, and are, therefore, superstitions--even to the point of being heretical or idolatrous. I go beyond the seventeenth-century separatists, however. Using that same rationale, I conclude that neither are baptism or the Lord’s supper sacraments. Important yes - for their symbolic value - but not vehicles of God’s grace.
I’m particularly opposed to the mass for several reasons, one of which is that it is (or is widely considered to be) a sacrifice - which, to me, means that the ceremony is inimical to the principle that the death of Jesus was once for all time and once for all humans.
I agree with the seventeenth-century separatists that religious icons - especially statues and crosses but even stained glass windows if they are of such a nature as to be considered icons - encourage idolatry and should, therefore, be avoided.
I’m not as opposed to scripted prayers as the seventeenth-century separatists were but I discourage their use. Should I just not participate? Or should I vote with my feet where scripted prayers are used in every service (or maybe even exclusive of extemporaneous prayers)?
I’m opposed to hierarchy. I agree that clergy can have some kind of administrative authority within their respective denominations but I don’t consider clergy to have any SPIRITUAL authority that is not available, directly from the Lord himself, to every Christian. I’m not opposed to organization but I strongly object to using the phrase, “the Church” to refer to any organization beyond the local congregation.
During the early years of Plymouth, failing to bring a gun to worship services was an offense for which a person (presumably only the men) could be fined 12 pence. I don’t agree with that but I even more disagree with prohibiting weapons in church buildings. It makes them into shooting galleries for anyone who disregards such prohibitions.
The seventeenth-century separatists did not celebrate Christmas or Easter. I agree with them that Christmas and Easter are human inventions (not prescribed in the Bible), that they weren’t celebrated by first-century Christians and, therefore, they cannot be considered Holy days.
Seventeenth-century separatists declined to include religious symbols in marriage ceremonies, including wedding rings. I don’t go as far as they did in declaring a wedding ring to be, "a diabolical circle for the Devil to dance in" but I don’t see anything in the Bible about wedding rings and, thus, conclude that they are neither essential nor desirable.
The Mayflower Pilgrims used the Geneva edition of the Bible, first published in English in 1560. I think their preference for that translation over the King James translation was partly because they considered the Geneva Bible footnotes to be better (more in line with their theology) than the footnotes included with the King James translation but their preference was undoubtedly influenced by the vow of King James I to make the puritans "conform (to the costumes of the Church of England), or . . . harry them out of the land, or else worse."-George Bancroft, History of the United States of America, part 1, chapter 12, paragraph 6
For me, there are some advantages to using the King James translation of the Bible but I sometimes find it helpful to compare translations. Between us, my wife and I have five translations including one translated from the Masoretic text, copyright 1917 and published by the Jewish Publication Society of America.
Jesus disregarded SOME Hebrew traditions but I think only those he considered antithetical to Biblical principles. My objection is not to traditions per se (whether they are Hebrew or ostensibly Christian) but I object to people treating traditions as sacrosanct.
In the first century A.D. citizens of the Roman Empire in general and officials of the empire in particular HATED Hebrews. People who considered Jesus to be the true Messiah - first in Rome and then, gradually in other parts of the empire - took steps to minimize the perception that Christianity had Hebrew roots. They started by adopting the day the pagans had designated in honor of their sun god - Sunday - and saying that resting on that day was in honor of the resurrection of Jesus. The annual feast days and fast days the Lord had given his people were abandoned. Some of the pagan holidays were adopted or adapted in ways to make them seem Christian. Eventually, the doctrine developed that all Hebrews - even those who hadn’t yet been born when Jesus was crucified - were guilty of deicide (killing God).
For more than a thousand years, priests in western Europe taught the laity to hate Hebrews and parents taught their children to hate Hebrews.
I’m delighted that, in the United States in the twenty-first century, very few professed Christians are teaching their children to hate Hebrews. That change didn’t come about until the twentieth century so, today, hardly anyone realizes that the primary reason for the change was the adoption of the doctrine that the creator has one plan of salvation for Hebrews and another plan for Christians. That doctrine was developed (in Ireland in the nineteenth century) using a method of Bible interpretation known as dispensational futurism. I disagree with both the premise and the eschatology (doctrine of the end times) it has spawned.
I don’t agree with the doctrine that the Lord’s supper was intended to replace Passover. I think any meal that includes unleavened bread and (fermented or unfermented) wine can be considered a Passover meal but I’m 78 and only three times (once in the ‘70s in Iowa and twice in Michigan in the first decade of this century) have I been invited to participate in a meal that was called Passover.
I would dearly love to find one or more people outside of our extended family who a) don't oppose my religious beliefs and who b) eat a meal they call Passover and to which I could invite family members, neighbors or friends because the language being used is familiar to protestants in the United States - i.e. with a bare minimum of names or other words that aren’t in the majority of English translations of the Bible. My wife and I live in Orrington, Maine and I’ve been searching for such people since 2018. Can anybody on this comment board give me some suggestions?
*The book Perth Assembly (Leiden, 1618)--the book that got Elder William Brewster into trouble with the king of England and ultimately resulted in the confiscation of his printing press--was largely about the rejection of Christmas and other appointed "Holy Days."

    • @Laura0IN
      @Laura0IN ปีที่แล้ว

My father is ethnically Jewish and found Jesus, Yeshua as his savior before I was born. I’ve been celebrating Jesus in the Pesach as long as I can remember, over 49 yrs. Biblically this is a celebration/memorial that is not done in a church or synagogue but in the homes.
I suggest you get some Messianic Haggadah’s, there are several that are offered free online, and perhaps invite a few friends to come and join you.
If you’re not up to cooking a full meal, which I haven’t been able to do several times, I just make Matzah ball soup, and the Charoseth, and gather the other items for the Seder plate. My next dish I would add is Apple-Nut Kugel…it’s like a bread pudding using the Matzah.
Enjoy celebrating with family and friends, and remembering what God did in Exodus and how HE has freed us as well.

@@realmommyknt No, Scripture says that Christ is the new Passover sacrifice, which is why the Apostles and their successors all celebrated Easter in place of Passover and Sunday in place of Saturday in honor of His resurrection. You two are practicing a false religion and are not Christian.
1 Corinthians 5:7- “Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.”
