Wes Garren - Guitars & Keys
Andy James - Drums
Criss Oliva's last recorded full concert Chicago Illinois, U.S.A., August 6th 1993 at the Gateway Theater
Criss Oliva's "Savatage" Touring on the recognition of ZRock Networks of over a hundred + Radio Stations playing the New Savatage Album in heavy rotation giving Savatage the mainstream exposure they had been working towards. Ironically in its inception old school Savatage Fans did not immediately accept the new Savatage line up. Drummer Doc. Killdrum Wacholz even exciting the band stating "It feels like a cover band".
Obviously this statement was in reference to the departure of Jon Oliva and Chris Caffery whom split ammicably with the band to pursue other endevors, namely "Dr.Butcher"
Criss Oliva took over the helm of the Savatage brand with New vocalist Zachary Stevens and hired guns Andy James on Drums and Wes Garren on Guitars & Keyboards. Johnny Lee Middleton staying on board with Criss were now the only two members of Savatage staying on with Middleton being an early replacement bassist for Keith Collins, Savatages original bass player, making Criss Oliva the only truly Original remaining member of Savatage (Do or die, never give up mentality!).
This concert was recorded two months prior to Criss Oliva's passing and was during the Edge of Thorns Tour.
After Criss' passing this short lived version of Savatage disbanded and founding member Jon Oliva put Dr Butcher on eternal hold as he stepped back into the leadership role reinventing Savatage yet again with Jeff Plate on Drums, Criss Oliva's good friend and Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick to fill in for Criss' void ultimately being permanently filled by guitarist extraordinair Al Pitrelli whom not only became intrigal to Savatages future sound but also became an intrical part of Trans Siberian Orchestra as well. Eventually Chris Caffery would also return to Savatage and again became important to TSO.
This brief moment in time is Criss Oliva's "Savatage"

Unforgettable Criss. ❤
What a blast from the past! Thank you for the trip down memory lane😁🤘
He is Very Much Missed 😢 But Not Forgotten 🕊️🎶🎶
It's so hard knowing he is gone and the greatness that he played on the guitar. He never gets enough credit for how great he was and still is. I believe savatage would be so much bigger had he still be alive physically. T.S.O. would be even better. I miss Criss and will always be my favorite guitarist of all time
I was at the LiveStock Music Festival October 17th 1993 in Zepherhills Florida when Criss tragically died on his way to perform. RIP Criss Oliva💔🎸
Chris Olivia had his own Unique Style and It all came from His Heart that what separated Him from the Others 👐🏼 Truth 💔 hurts R.I.P

This was an awesome band 🎸🔥✨🙏
They lost their legendary guitarist in a terrible car accident. RIP .
One of the best Florida bands Ever ⚡
This was a really good band. My band smoke played many shows with them. Great times. 🤘🃏🎸🇺🇲
The Greatest, RIP Criss!🎸😎🎸
Criss was the glue to this bands longevity.
Sadly, Jon can't get his shit together to keep the fire burning...
SAVATAGE was epic. 😎🎤👊🇺🇲
Rip Chris 🙏♥️
Criss is still one of my all time favorite players....even after all these years...I can only imagine how good he would be...And even though the Olivas are not really a part of it, I am stoked that there will be a tour coming up...even thought its only in Europe..could mean good this. I never knew that these other 2 guys ever played in the band...never heard the name Wes Garren ever..is he still around?
Touring guitarist at the time I think
Awesome
I have to check Myself 😔 Humbly, and remember 😂He Chris Olivia was a Special gift given to US from ABOVE ❤ To Enjoy,A Unique Talent That Only Comes Around Once.
Sirens is still my nr. 1, but Criss was a gem in each way you think! Savatage is much alive! ♨️🪨♨️
Legend. Left us too son.
SWEET. Bring back Z-Rock...
great to see Jon looking and sounding! so much like the rock star he is as well! thank you for preserving and sharing this little gem! 😄
FYI: That was Zach on vocals not Jon.
Zac Stevens on vocals. Who's the other guitarist?
@@erickmartin5667 Chris Caffery. Played in Circle II Circle with Zac. Great guitarist and also has solo albums.
@@erickmartin5667 I was wrong that was not Chris Caffery. Caffery played offstage in the early years, left then came back in 1995.
The Greatest, RIP Criss ! 🎸😎🎸
