    i’m in love with the tone that james markey produces, it’s so vibrant and rich and this recording shows a great exhibition of that. thank you for publishing this, kudos for publishing this recording! ☺️

    The tone that James Markey produces at 2:20 is absolutely immaculate. Probably the best I've ever heard a trombone sound.

    did anyone else notice(if you have the sheet music to this) that they changed parts with each other near the end and then for like the 3 measures they switched back again

      Jason Sato there are two different versions for this. The arrangement they played was the original i believe. Happy playing!

      I noticed that too because Markey started playing the higher part and I was like “I don’t remember this.”

    Amazing! I love especially how you guys managed to achieve the tone and lightness that was in the original recording that many other versions lack. I love the original, and I'll be following to hear future versions of this piece. On a side note, I just performed this for our yearly solo/ensemble contest, and want to get it perfect to perform it again at the end of June. Do you have any tips or words of wisdom I could use?

    Is this possible for two standard trombones instead of bass trombones? With maybe some low notes swapped out?

    • @gabrielbustos2706
      @gabrielbustos2706 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      you definitely want a bass trombone on the lower part. not only for the low Cs and Bs, but for the valve facility and timbre. it is possible to play the top part on an F attachment tenor, though you might have to rewrite some of the descending scales that get passed off from one part to the other.

    • @zaydenm
      @zaydenm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can play the top part with an f trigger, for the bottom one there is a few low b naturals but most can be played if you're range is good enough for a pedal f

  • @michaellisby6341
    @michaellisby6341 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    If you listen close enough, you can hear the sound of the valves being smashed down
