    I knew an elderly couple that traveled with a box of envelopes, a book of stamps, and index cards. Every promotion, every lottery ticket they found on the ground with a second chance mail in, every mail in sweepstakes they would enter. These folks were literally wealthy just doing this. It's amazing how few people participate in these things and how that dramatically increases your odds of winning.

    • @A_Stereotypical_Guy
      @A_Stereotypical_Guy 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@chriszhang1660 ok so many magazines and nowadays websites of companies have pages where they have mail in rebates, coupons, giveaways, sweepstakes etc. Most of the time you have to hunt them down, they don't always advertise them outright. The reason they kept these things is they would write their information down on these index cards and mail them to these companies for their official entry info and such, sometimes the index card was good enough for an entry. Nowadays I imagine it's mostly done online so I guess the box of envelopes is outdated. This was in 1995 96 era. And they would absolutely enter every single one they could find.
      By second chance mail ins I mean that on the back of many lottery tickets in America they have a few lines of info to fill in and an address to mail the ticket to and that enters you into a second chance to win the prize on the ticket, sometimes more. Most people don't do this, they just throw them away. So those folks would gather them all up and mail them in. Won a good bit of money doing so. They won a new Ford truck one year, some small lotteries, tons of food and coupons, free gas, vacations etc. It was quite lucrative for them.

    Just a note here, in the UK lottery winnings are tax free, you only pay tax on any interest accrued. This applies to any prize won on any legal game of chance so if you, for example, win a Ferrari or a Rolls Royce in the US you could go bankrupt paying the luxury vehicle tax, in the UK you just drive it home.

      @lesliekilgore648 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the capital gains and lux taxes in the US are a percentage of the CASH VALUE of the item... NOT the MSRP (manufacturers' suggested retail price). so, if your local Ferrari dealership CLAIMS that car you just won is worth one million US $... you won't be taxed on that amount. but the actual Blue Book Sale Value of said car. this is how Mr.Beast the TH-camr helps his 'huge prize winners' get around the lux and capital gains taxes. because HIS accounting firm will help the winners FILE THEIR TAXES FOR FREE on any items/cash etc. folks win from Mr.Beast. that is also why many MANY contests in the US have fine print stating 'or the equivalent cash value of said item(s) may be given to the winner in lieu of the item in question'. the tax rate on CASH WINNINGS is different IN EACH US STATE let alone the tax rate on cash winnings by the IRS.
      oh and you don't have to pay VAT on winnings in the UK?

    Reminds me of being a kid and pulling something similar on a very small scale. Back in the early 90's they used to do prize caps on soft drinks, usually just for a free drink, but sometimes more. I discovered on bottled water you could read the bottom of the caps if you simply looked through the bottle a certain way. So while my mom went shopping, I'd just go raid the bottled water aisle and set aside winners. I kept busy and I didn't bother her while she shopped, it was a win win. She'd come back in about 15 minutes and we'd load up the winners. I had store staff ask me what I was doing a few times and I'd just blatantly tell them I was picking out winners and will keep the shelves organized. I don't think they realized I was being serious, they'd just shrug and walk away.
    Eventually they went to coding the caps and you'd have to enter the codes online to figure out if you were a winner.

      Back when Xbox came out I was working at GameStop while Blockbuster had a generous promotional offer when at the same time they were trying to buy up any and all used DVDs. I forget how much the bonus was (probably $10 extra for trading in 3).
      Basically I was buying $1-3 dvds at GameStop and trading them at blockbuster for face value and the extra bonus. End result was that I got a basically free Xbox from blockbuster, off setting the initial cheap dvd cost by buying like two video games there and reselling for cash. Also obviously got a discount at GameStop.

They were just jealous and harassed that poor man. They called the news stations, wrote spiteful letters, and made his life hell.
    We have a homelessness epidemic that will only get worse... and there are enough empty/abandoned homes to house EVERY PERSON affected at least 3 times over. Yet, all the banks (that get bailed out every time they screw up) would rather see them rot and fall into disrepair than allow us to solve a humanitarian crisis.

      that's all fine and dandy until you end up that person with every house around you is taken over. Yes that works in theory except where I live those houses you talk about gangs take over to sell drugs. Locals utilize them as party houses like not a house party but legit paid entry nightclubs and strip clubs and others use it to charge migrants to live in it rent and overfill it 20 fold. Let alone the one where it was basically turned into a casino with card games n such . Then you get into prostitution so on so forth point is would you like to live in an area where not only one house has that going on all hours of the night but multiple. Would you not be mad they pay nothing and you can't even let your children play in your own yard you pay for. Like come on this works if people treated it as it should be to get on ones feet and whatnot but that's not what happens. When you were a kid and parents or friends gave you something free you treated it differently as an adult when you paid for it taking better care of it if not u b lying to yourself lol I watch it with my kids n toys all the time Xmas stuff ends up missing parts but anything they earned with their own money they know where every single thing is of it. Even my one kids pokemon cards my son trades or gives away or flings them around. and I'm not saying your wrong with it all it does suck how banks all all are and yes it would be nice to use them for said things it's just whod police them or check they're even safe to occupy often enough or code enforcement and what not. We are in a police deficit in most places and they don't have enough code enforcement to start this but the man power in itself wouldn't be sustainable so while yes good in theory it's just not possible to give away free homes to all within the US. Don't forget about how many would refuse to work and what that would cause everyone would be like huh I can work and pay for a house or not and get a free house then work after I live in it long enough it's mine

    There's a much better loophole than adverse possession with much less risk of losing any potential equity you may put into it, and evictions tend to stay on a person's record for quite a while.
    What you do, is go to your municipality's tax lien listings. Pay the taxes on a house that you want. Doing so makes you an official lien holder to that property. Which means you own a little bit of the house. Eventually one of two things will happen. Either the property owners will have to pay off the lien, or they will have to surrender possession to the lien holder. The timing is different by location. In ND, the original owner has 2 years to pay off the lien. If not, the property is all yours.

Not a peep out of any party involved and the county has removed the property from their registry. If I had been paying taxes, I would have paid for my house twice now. The zone of death falls under federal law and under federal law a federal judge can move the trial as needed, there is no loop hole for federal law. It would only be an issue for state law.
    Also, any crime that started outside the boundary would be chargeable in the state where it started. This loophole has been debunked repeatedly, it exists only in abstract because the legal remedy already exists under federal statute, it's similar to how US federal courts can charge crimes against its citizens even if the crime is committed outside the borders of the US or at sea.

    • @jgkitarel
      @jgkitarel 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yup, and Federal Law trumps State Law whenever a conflict between the two arises. Granted, it requires to federal courts to decide whether prosecuting it over the State's right to prosecute should take precedence, especially as Double Jeopardy definitely applies unless the violation runs afoul of certain specific circumstances, like military law and state law, where an acquittal in one doesn't mean you're scot free as the other can freely charge and prosecute you. More than one person has found that out the hard way.

    In Canada, we lost our pennies altogether and cash payments are rounded to the nearest $0.05 after it became too expensive to manufacture them. Then, we lost our $1.00 bill to a gold coloured coin with a loon on one side. We now call it a “loonie”. Then they took our$2.00 bill away and replaced it with a two-tone coin with a bear on it. No, it’s not a “Bearie’, it’s a,”toonie”. It practically eliminated the exotic dancer profession, because the smallest bill be have is now a $5! If you want to do adverse possession legally and legitimately, you need to find a property that is NOT owned by the bank. That was his mistake. Then you need to contact the current owner, tell them you are "an investor" and that you think their property has "potential" and then you get permission to be a "maintainer." The owner most likely hasn't made any payments on the house, so tell them you will pay the property taxes. You'll also need to be paying for the utilities. The owner, whose credit has probably tanked, will most likely agree. If you are paying the property taxes and utilities for 3 years, then you can claim adverse possession. Some jurisdictions are 5 years. This information came from my real estate friend in california. So 3 things need to happen: 1. NOT owned by the bank yet, 2. Current owner needs to know about it, 3. You need to be paying the property taxes and utilities.

    The reason dollar coins never catch on is simple: They're always too similar to quarters. No one ever uses them because they're afraid they'll give out a dollar when they intended to give out a quarter without realizing it. Even when they made them slightly hexagonal, in the 1980's (I believe). But the angles were too slight. You could hardly tell there were points unless you really looked at it. In the 1960's the dollar coin (then known as a silver dollar) was substantially larger. It was easy to tell the two apart. But since then they made the silver dollar only about 1/10 larger than a quarter. And they fell into disuse. If the US mint would stop being so chintzy and add a bit more size/weight to the coins people might start using them again.

      In Aotearoa/New Zealand and in Australia the $1 and $2 coins are a gold colour and about twice the thickness of our 20c and 50c coins, which are a silver colour. Both countries dollar coins look pretty similar but, here in Aotearoa the $2 is larger. Trouble is in Australia - for some inexplicable reason, their $1 is LARGER than their $2, which ends up with lots of Australian $1 coins getting spent as $2 here. 😊

      Since (I believe) the year 1999, with the advent of the Sacajawea dollars, the coins have been gold-colored to differentiate them from quarters.

    We weren't given a choice here in Aotearoa New Zealand. It was simply announced that the one dollar bill, then a few years later the two dollar bill, were going to be withdrawn from circulation on X date and that we had until Y date to exchange them at the bank. After the second date they stopped being valid currency, and were simply worthless. Pretty sure it was the same in Australia when they changed there too. The coins are fine, we got used to them pretty quickly. They're both small gold coins about twice the thickness of the silver coloured cent coins - here in NZ the $1 is smaller than the $2 but, in Australia it's the other way around - which is not just silly, it means that lots of Australian $1 coins get passed off as $2 coins here in NZ. Nice way to double your holiday money 😁

    For only $3150 (or less I guess) that's still a heck of a "deal". I'm surprised that the company who held the promo didn't have some limitation (probably do now) that you can only claim, say up to 1500 miles or perhaps up to 5,000 miles let's say, but even then so, that would still be a pretty good deal. Personally I would have maybe tried to see if some of those miles could have been converted into perhaps hotel stays. Yes you would end up with fewer available miles for flying but it could have meant near free vacations overall, if points or miles could be converted into points or value towards hotels or resorts or even food vouchers.
    I'd probably take the free partment for life. Of course if you move, then you lose the "free" apartment, but you could take the money that you didn't pay (or the difference if you did) and apply that towards vacations, so while the vacations wouldn't necessarily be free, they would likely be easier to do since you aren't paying rent or you are paying severely reduced rent compared to what you would be paying, and for some, that could mean $500+ per month savings, that you could then put towards travel.

    I believe when Mass did an investigation into the Cash Windfall lottery game they identified at least one or two other lottery players who had also independently figured out how to beat the system.

    Reminds me of a competition where had to scan grocery receipts where each receipt was an entry, also could do a referal entry. So instead of buying items or even doing individual item purchases and generating a reciept you could withdraw cash from selected grocery stores and use those as elligible receipts. I did a lot of scanning of $1 coin withdrawlas and referrals entries for mates. Easy wins as lots of prize draws for $$$ and those extra entries didn't cost a dime, just some time. 🤣

    17:25 How does that work? Wouldn't the banks invest the coins in various things to make their customers' investments gain interest? Thus putting the coins in circulation?
    Or did I completely misinterpret the bank song from MarryPoppins?

    These remind me of a vending machine (for cold drinks) we had in (the German equivalent of a) Highschool.
    That machine didn't truly check coins (as long as their weight was somewhat comparable), so a 1 Euo coin could easily be replace by a Lira coin from Itally, which was worth a fraction (and of which I had many left, after a trip to Italy with my parents before the Euro became Europe's standard currency)...so yeah, Lira coin went in, ice cold Coca Cola came out :)

    Back in the early 90's coke and pepsi came out with the possibility of free pop liners inside the lid. The first year, they marked all the caps with 1-6 barely nocicable lines on the tabs that used to break off when you opened the drink. I was 12. I very quicly noticed that all the winning ones had one line so i proceeded to continously clearing out all the stores stock of free ones. I literslly bought 1 single pop that year and just kept taking the free ones, one at a timw with the previous fre pop liner. to continue. Nobody in my family had to buy any pop that year. We saved a lot😅 the next year, the external markings were gone.

    Very nice video! has still a thing that i don t understand i don t know if it is cause of lack of knowldge but dogs can distinguish twin by their molecules im not a expert in this but this could just arrest these criminals different from what a lot of people think is not genetic or even odor but by their molecules for example a dog can know if their owner are bad cause every minute we lose about 20k dead molecules so they can know if their owner is bad
