I don't think you are bad at design. If you give your focus on it, you can make much better than this. As you have asked for few methods to learn, I will suggest you to explore PowerPoint and try to watch the good presentation slides and have a think how it can be done! To watch good presentation slides, I will recommend to use Pinterest.
