Catch this: @ 4:57 the spot lights are set up to create a Fox silhouette right on Plini. For a band that always create work that has so much depth, I bet this lightwork imagery is no accident
I finally caught Plini in Ohio after years of hoping. A killer show, and I'm glad I didn't spoil this song before the set opened with it. The song hit extra hard, and the overall performance was stunning!
I've been a Plini fan from the very beginning, they were still quite unknown, I saw the band live, without a big light show, these guys are absolutely unbelievably excellent, for me the most modern groove band on the market at the moment. I was really sad that drummer Troy Wright left the band, an incredibly cool guy, but Chris Allison is also doing a really good job...👍
The song we didn’t know we needed in our lives. The feels are ecstatic and deep. But this performance has elevated it furthermore. Seeing them enjoy adds so much more feels. Love it.
The greatest band around. Absolutely love and respect these incredible musicians. Chris is one of the most versatile, prolific and steadfast drummers in the world.
Wow! Absolutely love your music! I'm disappointed that I want make your show this November in Atlanta GA. Hope you guys can come to Birmingham Alabama soon!
Less than a week a away and I'm already in awe. Really hoping to hear I'll Tell You Someday live it would complete my life and I could die happily. 😅 Ask and you shall receive... that experience was healing I thank all of you and hope to catch you the next time you're near.
Top 3 tune on the Mirage EP. Super fun video to accompany it now. Dang Simon is ripping it up 😭 P.s. Plini please come back to Austin with AAL in about 2 years. I can't make it next month..
Never thought I'd watch a Plini video and want to see more of the bass! Don't get me wrong, Plini is exceptional and I love his guitar playing...but man, the bass in this is sublime!
Best Album/EP: Handmade Cities Best Song: Selenium Forest Best Solo: Pastures (Handmade Cities version) Things have gotten more complicated, more technical, but there is something to be said for direction. And melody. And shred. This kind of feels like a plane that keeps taxiing the runway and never takes off. Like a whole song that’s a vamp. I blame jazz. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate it. There is a lot of greatness here. And the band has only gotten better. Just something lacking compared to the best stuff. And really it’s Plini being less in the foreground. With no singer, the guitar has to take that role, and play strong melodies throughout. But also compositionally, it has to go somewhere. That’s what Selenium Forest does so well. And there’s nothing wrong with being a guitar hero. It seems like he’s really backed off from that. Like he wouldn’t be caught dead doing some kind of insane tapping like Pastures anymore. And it’s not like it’s a crime to go into 4/4 once in a while, etc. Neither is harmonic resolution. Hooks. Riffs, melodies and shred. That’s what his best stuff has. Otherwise it’s just a jam.
You gotta love how Simon Grove follows Victor Wooten's advice: his job is to make Plini sound good, doing all these crazy shenanigans on the bass while Plini takes all the credit lmao jk Plini and Simon have a terrifying chemistry, you can't have one without the other.
Plini always looks like he just woke up
he's the most chilled guy around!
That's his signature look 😂
he's so chill that the video color-graded itself
Abd even that he looks better tan anyone
And needs some ice cold beer
I really like Simon Grove on Bass - I like his tone and the way he plays even though I'm guitar player and not a Bass Player.
Same here, especially parts like the harmonics in Ember
One of the best modern bass players and engineers.
@@frenchiesfrankieandhenry True
Five Days of Rain really shows the talent of Grove on Bass and Lowe on 7 string the ending is massive.
Simon improved his skills as a bass player, opted out of glasses in favour of contact lenses and lost extra weight. He is an absolute legend!

Mirage was a tremendous EP. Hope there is a full album coming soon.
Didn't Plini say he was going for an Album/EP/Album/EP split? :)
@flake8382 I've not seen him say it, but you're probably right. He's been doing that since Handmade Cities.
The production on these live videos never disappoints. Absolutely sick as always!
As insane as his live sound
Don't you mean, "Never disappoints?". Double negatives are one thing, but triple negatives?
I see PLINI, I click and like, period
I finally caught Plini in Ohio after years of hoping. A killer show, and I'm glad I didn't spoil this song before the set opened with it. The song hit extra hard, and the overall performance was stunning!
That drum solo fkn sends me, amazing to finally see it performed
What an amazing performance.
Man, you are a wizard. Your music is a magic. And i love what you're doing! ❤
He single handedly got me to appreciate "solo" type music and not perceive it as all just "shred"
Think this was the opener for there gig back in July in London a great shoiw and the support were really good too

4:09 One of the best solos I've ever heard
His hands are so relaxed, but make heavenly sounds
The magic of practise .... though that enduro neck certainly does help too. Feels like magic to me.
@@Traumglanz Yeah, Strandberg's are genius design. Out of my price range but someday...
Magnificent Plini...can't wait to see you in Vancouver
SIMON GROVE 🙌🙌
Simon GROOVE
The song we didn’t know we needed in our lives. The feels are ecstatic and deep. But this performance has elevated it furthermore. Seeing them enjoy adds so much more feels. Love it.
Even the lighting is red. Such cinnamontography
the rhythm that jake plays is absolutely mind boggling
The greatest band around. Absolutely love and respect these incredible musicians. Chris is one of the most versatile, prolific and steadfast drummers in the world.
I think this is my fave Plini song ever... can listen over and over and pick up something new every single time. Thanks Plini, very cool

Top 3 tune on the Mirage EP. Super fun video to accompany it now. Dang Simon is ripping it up 😭

Chris Allison makes the hardest stuff look so easy
Tell me about it! Saw him live a year ago and it was mind boggling
@ I saw him live like a month ago but then I saw Matt Garstka right afterwards and it was night and day lol
By far my favorite guitarist/composer today 🎸🎶💪
❤❤❤
When Spotify does that end-of-year summary that it does there is no doubt this track will be my most played track of 2024. Absolute masterpiece
WOW!
AWESOME..
Super!!!👍
Outrageously good.
🔥🔥🔥
In my opinion, one of his best songs since the trilogy days

I fxxxing love your music, goddammit!
❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥
So complicated but still beautiful
❤
👍👍👌
If there are only three members, who is comping behind the guitar solo? This is amazing.
You add a new layer to my monotonous life, thanks bro 🥹

5:21 so eargasmic
I love me some 15/8!
when the band sets in, that sound is magnificent. The bass sounds so sexy, it should be forbidden.
Cracks 🙏🙏
4:09 has to be his favorite part to play. If it I isn’t his then it surely is mine lol
The platypuses really dig this.
COME TO INDONESIA, DAMN YOU!
This mix is fantastic, everything is so punchy

Plini and Simon have a terrifying chemistry, you can't have one without the other.
What means Plini? Is it his name or last name or anything else?
Plini is actually his first name!
the solo to this song is fucking nuts
They should rename the project to the Simon Grove Band
that bass tone is fkn NASTY
Will there eventually be a live video recording of an entire show ?
Funny thumbnail like an 80's metal/thrash band 🤘🤪🤘
Whats with the random pit shot at 5:20 😂
Very Holdsworth, Ritenour, but mostly Methenyesque vibez. The next generation of Jazz players here to stay.
5:28 - interstellar reference?
As always, technical, flawless, but emotional. Hopefully they will make old stuff live video like ATLAS.
Where are the keyboards coming from???
Is this a track running on a laptop?
