I have a 2001 and the only mod I did was went to a 1 tooth smaller counter shaft sprocket. It lowered the gearing slightly and brought the gears together closer and only lost a few MPH. Made a world of difference believe it or not it was faster on top end because I actually could pull 5th gear almost everywhere including up hills. no big gaps between the Gears either so I'm shifting up and you don't have that's clutch slipping you have to do. Easy cheap, try it you'll like it.
GREAT bike and fun-factor! I wish they would bring back these value-driven affordable 2-strokes again! At least the smaller displacement 50cc (like the MB5 or AR50) to 125cc models!

I always rode superbikes but after being shot thrice in the right hand and arm i needed a lighter bike, bought one of these and they truelly are a blast to ride, lots of fun and reliable
Bought a white one with blue seat in 1988 on a E plate 3 months old 660 quid had it three months and some arsehole nicked it on Xmas day of that year never saw it again.😢
ive got a 1974 g5....its the same bike, just with more metal. exact! same engine about 55mph, but it likes to cruse at 45. sprocket change can make it cruse at 60, but ANY hill it will slow down. however, im 22 and 170 pounds. it gets about 80 MPG, so i use it as an in town bike.
I have a 95 but some of my parts I get from the 97 main difference I have seen is just a little more modern with some newer parts for example I needed a new set of points and a condenser and the 97 doesn't have those
Have one of these and honestly more exciting to ride than my R1

Jajajajajjajaja es una bestia
Sounds like a blender
Modern four stroke, single cylinder wonder bikes sound like vacuum cleaners. Take your pick.
Kx250 swap it!
You need a clutch, and you need need to learn how to shift a motorcycle.
