    Aria vs Legacy 2: which one has more micro detail, texture, faster transients, quality of midrange? I noticed they have really similar frequency curves. Also does the Legacy 2 have the typical BA timbre or does it sound pretty natural for a BA?

    In general, I would agree with what Super Review says about daps, dacs and amps under $1,500-2,000. It's almost the same as what Resolve says about this as well. The one area that I would disagree on is that I believe one can hear a difference between different dac chips, or maybe it's a difference in the way those different brand of chips are integrated with other components. I'm no engineer, so I jave no idea. I do know that I can definitelt tell the difference between a Saber dac chip and a Burr Brown dac chip. I certainly couldn't tell the difference between two Sabers or what not, but between those two there's a difference. I've tried several Saber dacs, and I honestly can't listen to them. Maybe if I bought a higher end dac, i would change my mind, but under $500 Burr Brown is the way to go for me.

    • @mrfrosty3
      @mrfrosty3 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree about the sound of DACs. I regularly hear that they all sound the same and that if you hear any difference it must be delusional. I have a few dac/amps and they all sound different to each other. I don't know if the make of the chip is what causes the sound or the design and implementation of the components.

    I enjoyed the Legacy 2 but I'd never have considered them neutral/a monitor set? I found it fun and that it played rock fantastically. Its sub bass sounds fantastic across genres, but it's surely pretty elevated.

    • @SuperReview

    Hey Mark! Another awesome review!
    In terms of studio monitoring/music producing would you recommend these or blessing 2s?

    • @SuperReview
      @SuperReview  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For the record, I don't do music production or other studio work apart from TH-cam streams.
      Why I'm comfortable recommending Legacy 2 over the Shure SE215 for stage performers: (1) I assume people are buying the SE215 on brand awareness and price point, and also value sound quality and fit security. (2) The Legacy 2 costs the same as the SE215, and has a more neutral sound and equal or better fit security.
      Blessing 2, I think, has better treble performance versus Legacy 2 and more revealing midrange. Probably those qualities are good for music production. But not my area of expertise, and a $99 versus $320 monitor isn't quite the same "yes it's strictly better" situation.

I really loved the fit of the se215 and for sleeping in but the nozzle broke a couple of years ago and have been looking for a comfy replacement. Currently own the ER2SE but the fit is really anal, so the thieaudio L2 seems like a nice side-grade maybe.

    Hi, i am new to your channel. Can i ask a little bit about your "stars ranking"? I watched your thieaudio legacy series, you ranked L4 3 stars and you give L2 a solid 4 stars, does it mean that you think the L2 better than the L4?

    • @SuperReview
      @SuperReview  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The 5-star scaling doesn't really work for ranking IEMs across price ranges, so something that's 4 stars at $100 isn't necessarily better than something that's 3 stars at $200.
      In this specific case of L2 vs. L4, my L4 is on loan so I haven't yet had the opportunity to listen to them head to head. But based on memory (and looking at my graphs), I think L4 with the #2 switch turned on would be a direct upgrade from L2. Very similar tonality, and L4 has better treble extension and generally sounds more dimensional w/ better defined transients. squig.link/?share=Super_Review_Target,ThieAudio_Legacy_2,ThieAudio_Legacy_4_(switch_on)

  • @coffeeflush5313
    @coffeeflush5313 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The title is nice clickbait and got me interested. I use Shure se 215's as my live go to IEM's. The newer 2021 models have somewhat tamed their bass response too, so not bad. But one can do much better in terms of sound quality. If the Legacy 2 is not as comfortable, then it is a no-no as a live monitor.
    What you really need for a monitor is representation of all frequencies and ideally no deviation bigger than 5 db, realistically 10 db. And more importabtly, insane comfort for long sweaty sessions with lot of movement.

    I reckon the SE215 is so bad that $10 chi-fi trades blows with it, no exaggeration.
