Time for some more BAND MAID! 2 songs for the price of 1! The music isn’t as loud due to potential copyright blocks. Music reactions tend to get blocked more than anything else.
Since this video is from their official TH-cam page, which means they won't block it, only if you use the videos that aren't uploaded by the band/or their agency, you could face a problem. You may use audio without video, or use smoke screen effect or something like that to avoid the issue. So when you eventually want to check out their live videos from other sources, then you'll definitely have to be careful.
For Black Hole, Kanami asked Akane how fast she could play? "Around 200 BPM" she replied. So Kanami wrote it as 220 BPM as a challenge - which Akane rose to meet.
Black Hole....that section that you found strange is just the sound image of you swirling around the event horizon of a Black Hole which is sucking you in....no escape from that space distortion ....BTW; the video has closed caption lyrics in English so you could follow the song! Thanks for the reaction...Peace and Respect from 🇨🇦
The ladies were supposedly worried about the performance of Black Hole due to its complexity, but I think they pulled it off perfectly. Moreover, it was the second to last song of this 2 hour concert, which makes the performance even more impressive from my point of view. This video combination is the perfect showcase for how versatile Band-Maid can be. And you're absolutely right, not many can claim to deliver on par or better live than in the studio. These ladies here make so many bands out there look bad in this discipline. And in almost all the others anyway. :) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 「 'Our rock never dies ever. Forever!' 」- from BAND-MAID 'Manners' 🕊️
J-LOD stands for Japan content Localization and Distribution). They provided a grant to various Japanese bands to subsidize costs as K.H. mentions below. To qualify, bands like Band-Maid, Scandal and others had to release two videos together. This is why Manners and Black Hole were featured in one video. While there's no outright connection between the two songs, 1) it shows the two extremes of Band-Maid - slow and groovy vs fast and spastic. Manners is also a bridge song that transports us from the older Band-Maid catalog into the Unseen World towards their newer, more progressive stuff like Black Hole and Giovanni among others. Anyway, great review. Your reaction shows that, even in a relatively straightforward song like Manners, Band-Maid throws in so many twists and turns, it's full of surprises. 2nd verse, 3rd verse, will it go fast, etc. Black-Hole is one of my most favorite songs ever, but then again, I grew up on progressive rock, but very few bands can make a song so progressive, so fast and so chaotic so damn catchy like Band-Maid.
Yeah, and BAND-MAID and SCANDAL usually post within a few hours of each other with new drops. While SCANDAL and BAND-MAID are friendly toward each other (Akane and Haruna are shopping buddies and fellow foodies), we need to remember that they are major competitors for the #1 spot in J-Girl Rock. After 15 years, SCANDAL is still #1, but BAND-MAID will be their logical successor, just as SCANDAL was the descendant of Princess Princess, etc. BTW, SCANDAL Trivia: Mami and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu are very good friends...don't tell Tomomi. LOL BAND-MAID Trivia: MISA is close friends with Silent Siren's bassist, Ainyan.
Misa has become my all time favourite bass player. I've never paid much attention to bass until I discovered Bandmaid this past March. Perhaps the most important attribute of this band is that everything is done to service the song. A truly great band with no egos.
Band-Maid went pretty progy with Black hole lol, that was cool The connection between the two songs is that Manners is the slowest tempo song in the album while Black Hole is the fastest in the album
Black Hole is a bit of a mind F honestly. They just pulled out the stops and wrote something insanely fast and progressive. It's the last song on the album and is definitely the one that took me the most listening to wrap my head around it. I know you love the bass. There's a song on the album which doesn't have a video but is available on their channel, "I Still Seek Revenge." You'll like that one, because BAAAAAASSSSSSSSS.
Black Hole is probably my favourite song of the last album, and live is even better because you can clearly hear Miku's vocals and it adds a LOT... but then again, the last album is fenomenal. Great video!
They create the music to suit the lyrics. It has hooks and dramas, etc. They tell story through sound, such a bunch of musical impressionists. It's always masterfully done. BTW it was the "deliciously weird" factor of band-maid that appeals to me the most. That's what keeps me excited 😊 and gets me going "what interesting/crazy/strange thing or things are they gonna throw in this time??!!" I would still be a fan of they didn't, but they are my No.1 band because they do shit like that. If it's not the sudden change-ups in the song, it could be tempo change, or unique drum fills or guitar solos with the off-key notes that almost sound rough-around-the-edge, Kanami often play guitar riffs that sound almost like noise or sound effect. I love that kind of stuff so much. Those little crazy tricks always make me happy and bring smiles on my face. You think this is weird, check out No God or Giovanni, even in their last 3 albums you'll notice the experimental edge to their music, but this new album Unseen World is the first album they produced themselves and where they did whatever they want imo, very adventurous and audacious. Can't wait to see what they'll do next. Loved your reaction. ❤🤘👍
About the "off-key" notes, remember they are Japanese, and traditional Asian music scales have more notes per octave than ours. So what might seem "off key" to a westerner may be just a broadly educated (whether formally or not) Japanese musician using Japanese musical elements.
@@jamesredman1263 As far as I remember, Japanese music scale only has 5 notes. (I hear this traditional scale used in B-M songs in parts some times). So providing the song is in C major, B and either E or F are the missing notes. I could be wrong. I always thought it was another good example of "Less is More", characteristic of Japanese culture. I don't see many Japanese musicians play like Kanami. Those insanely good players play like machines - so precise. Music education in Japan is also based on western music theory, so basically we use the same music terms and ideas.
@@lurkmerchant "Those insanely good players play like machines - so precise." Thanks for that, that concept has been ticking my brain for a while but I couldn't find words for it.
Great reaction. I just subscribed. I agree with a lot of your observations. The jazzy Intro for Manners was added for this performance. Black Hole isn't one of my favourite Bandmaid songs, but I respect their commitment to experiment with different genres. All great bands (and yes, Bandmaid is a great band) will experiment and push themselves to their limits. Speaking of experimenting, my all time favourite band is Led Zeppelin. Bandmaid and Led Zeppelin obviously don't sound the same, but share that confidence, curiosity and desire to broaden their horizons. Cheers from Canada.
The only predictable thing about BAND-MAID is their unpredictability. Don't go in thinking you know what's coming next. That only leads to confusion or disappointment. BAND-MAID is a puzzle, wrapped in an enigma, spiraling down the throat of a black hole. But props to you for trying to guess. Cheers! About the volume: It's pretty rare for BAND-MAID to block anything from their official channel. Bootleg stuff? Yup. But not their official stuff. If I can still hear the music, so can the stupid bots. I feel like you more than transformed the the original content with all the pausing and analyzing, and would easily win a dispute for copyright.
Black Hole is definitely at the proggy, challenging side of Unseen World, and one of those songs you have to get in a few listens to hear how Kanami connects things up. At the same time it is meant to be disorienting (like a black hole might be), and Miku's briliant lyrics (don't forget CCs) reflect it: could be an actual Black Hole, could be a bad relationship or obsession you get "sucked into".
J-LOD Live is an NPO which financially supports concerts/events cancelled due to COVID-19. So I guess that the management company received a supporting fund from this NPO for this online Okyu-ji. Black Hole was performed as the second from the last in this 2-hour live stream show. I was very surprised and impressed by their decision and A-chan's stamina. As you can see in this video, she is smiling🍌🥁🦍🥁🍌
blackhole the first half of the song is the falling into the hole the second half when it goes weird and strange is the coming out the other side somewhere strange and weird. at least its what my brain gets it also matches the visuals on the screen behind
'black hole' challenges the listener's ear. the chaos and frenzy are anchored on the intentional dissonance and the tempo, which btw, is their fastest yet.
It is nice to see you back to Band-Maid. You should also check out the band Lovebites and their newest video "Set the World on Fire" live. Then jump to the band Nemophila and their song "Dissension."
Dude....you a really good reactor. Hope more people find your channel. Check out the studio version of both. They sound a little different due to the mix.The bass and Miku's backuo vocals are more audible in the live
Hey man good reaction, i would like to recommend to you another great band, is called The Warning . They are a powerful rock band from mexico, actually they are part of the Metallica Blacklist album and their cover was chose to be in the Marvel's Midnight Suns trailer. Hey my friend you should do a review to one of my favorite rock bands called Amberian Dawn, and the song of theirs called Sons Of The Seven Stars, or a song called, Saga which is on the same album, it was kinda hard to choose a song because they got so many good songs I love their first four albums and then they switched singers for some reason, but the new singer has some good songs also but doesn't feel the same without the original person to me.

Supposedly Band Maid and their minders don’t block, but I’m sure others know more.
I’m always cautious cause band labels can be difficult to work with.

Band Maid could give a master class on how to let your bassist fly free, and be just as much of a leader as their lead guitarist.
In Manners, Misa basically just plays her own lead for the whole song. And I love it.

So that Chainsaw doesn't get confused, MISA's BASS is not the same as a SEA BASS. it's a easy mistake to make but they're totally different things.😏
