I’ve been watching your videos for over 2 years now. Always gives me a great build up to when I go to Chamonix every year. Roll on 30th January. Thanks mate
Im french, i had a family châlet house when i was young and then teenager, up the chamonix valley but my grandparents sells it to rich brittish people for a well good price 😢 we had a pink view of the glaciers surrounded by the salmon and golden evening sunlight on the peaks summits in front of us, just at the end of a ski journey, a little slice of alaska vibes ! ❤ ohhh my childhood... you are so lucky, im empressed to come back there even if the services (hotels etc) prices are just going mad ! Hope it will change one day in France ! Happy new year bro ! Thanks ❤
Unfortunately chamonix is becoming unaffordable for nearly everyone these days. I have had to move out of the valley and so have many of the people who work here
@@chamonixskibum The industry as a whole, world-wide, seems to be struggling with “growing pains”. 20 years ago we were told “global-warming” was the existential threat to the ski industry, but it turns out “globalization” (in terms of business models) has had a far bigger impact upon we enthusiasts.
Glad Europe is having a great season 👍 enjoy. Great start for us also in Hokkaido. But that’s fairly normal but we don’t get as much steeps unless you hike into the back country (which we do!)
Wow! cool! Here on the US west coast we had very similar weather patterns but nowhere near the accumulations. Fresh snow Christmas eve in Lake Tahoe (Palisades) then bluebird day on Christmas but very warm thereafter. Merry Christmas and Happy (upcoming) New Year!
That’s Epic Christmas Coming next week, want to do my first bit of Ski touring on the routes from St Gervais le Bettex and or Les Houches, if there is off piste snow otherwise I’ll have to do on piste either morning or Evening, where they allow, will the ski touring climbs be open from the 8th
Love the content. Can't wait till Friday each week! I arrive 2 January in Chamonix and one was wondering where you think the best conditions are right now? Argentiere, Le Flegere or Brevent?
Probably none of the above! Le tour always has the best pistes, GM will be icy now, brevent - Flégère some pistes will be good, some will be icy. The best conditions will almost certainly be in Lee contamines if you can get there. But there is snow coming at some point next week so everything will change
Thanks for the update! What would the best way to ski in Les Contamines if we don't have a car and are staying in central Chamonix? Any bus services we can look to book or train we can catch for a day of skiing? Thanks!
@maxbourne1297 if you are not on a budget, the simplest way is an in resort transfer from somebody like go prime or mountain drop offs, but it won't be cheap. Getting there by public transport is possible but very difficult. You would need to take the train to le fayet, then the valleen gondola to St Gervais, and then a bus from there. Train and gondola are free with an unlimited ski pass, but the buses are not.
The Hyperlink for MDO is not working at the moment, please use the QR code in the video if you can!

Thanks, glad you like them!
it all looks fantastic ! The Insta360 is a success & well done skiing deep snow without pole plants ! (not easy). Keep up the good work !
I definitely lacked a bit of style, but luckily with the snow up around my chest you can't tell!
@@chamonixskibum maybe collapse the second ski pole if it's adjustable into your backpack. That way you can ski with one pole and the selfie stick
Great job David! Off to a fantastic start and Insta seems a success!!
Thanks!
Looks amazing, I'm so jealous ❤️

That is the trade off, Japan and the rockies get the snow but lack the terrain. We have terrain in abundance but can't rely on the snow!

New camera is doing its magic 🎉
it just takes forever to edit unfortunately, otherwise i would use it all the time
Perrrrrfect!
@@chamonixskibum you will get quicker as you become more familiar with the software I think. Looks good tho.
More storms coming in Jan 🤣
Fingers crossed!

Indeed it looks like it will be snowing Thursday night after you arrive!
@@chamonixskibum Great to know. Thank you Sir 👍
Get the insta360 camera mount that mounts to your ski poles!
I have it! I just brought the wrong size insert for these poles that day 😂
