🚆 4K Cab ride from the city depot to a panorama of the alps (Switzerland | S3 Zürich - Wetzikon)

- Welcome aboard the S3 service on this early spring morning! Our train is parked in the depot Zurich Herdern in the middle of Zurich and we are getting ready for our upcoming trip to Wetzikon. It takes roughly half an hour to fully check and prepare a train of this type and length. This includes an exterior walkaround, checking the train protection systems in both cabs at the train ends, checking the brakes and data input for the trains cab radio and protection system.
Now that we're ready, you'll experience the whole run from the depot into Zurich Highlands, where a fantastic panoramic view over the Alps awaits us! Until we are there, we pass through the center of Zurich and will soon reach Effretikon. There we will turn into our single track section with lower speeds, shorter platforms (200m instead of the usual 300m on the ZVV network) and fantastic views. Enjoy the ride!
Sorry about the blue-yellow shifting in the beginning from the camera, it will stop soon. The squeaking is not the chair, but the whole locomotive. It happens ;-)

Beim Ausfahrsignal effretikon zeigt das vorsignal Fahrt es folgt jedoch kein hauptsignal mehr bis Einfahrt illnau müsste das vorsignal nicht dunkel bleiben ?
Im s Bahn netz gibts tatsächlich noch gruppenausfahrsignale wie in Kempten !
Sehr gut beobachtet! Das Vorsignal erfüllt keinen Zweck, jedoch darf es nicht dunkel bleiben, weil ein dunkles Vorsignal wie ein "Warnung" zeigendes behandelt werden müsste. Das heisst, die Zugsicherung würde ansprechen und der Zug dürfte nicht über 40km/h beschleunigt werden. Daher zeigt es einen Fahrbegriff. Die gleiche Situation gibt es auch an anderen Stellen im Netz.
Wieder etwas gelernt für Ausfahrten Richtung Winterthur ist das vorsignal ja notwendig

Ich vermisse an dieser Strecke doch eine gewisse Romantik! Sie ist irgendwie ohne Flair, ohne eine typische Seele!
Aber die Schweiz ist ein hochindustrialisiertes Land, in dem nicht nur in Lederhosen auf der Alm gejodelt wird! Diese Strecke repräsentiert eigentlich so den Alltag!

Bei den vielen Tunnels, Gegenlicht, Schatten etc. gehts leider fast nur mit WB auf Automatik. Im Normalfall macht der Automat auch nicht solche wilden Sachen. ;-) Schön, dass es dir trotzdem gefallen hat!

I don't know why, it happens for a variety of reasons.

The dashboard says no radios. How do you communicate with dispatch?
Every cab has a built-in GSM-R radio and we carry a personal cell phone to communicate. Radios are only forbidden right where the sticker is, because they could interfere with the "speedometer", the little lever just left of the sticker.

Die Ansage für Effretikon war ein bisschen spät... ;)
Die Ansage kam schon richtig (21:03 ), aber das System hat sich verhaspelt und bei der Ausfahrt nochmals Effretikon angegeben. Das habe ich korrigiert und dafür kam dann eben Illnau sehr früh. Das passiert selten mal, ist nicht weiter schlimm.
Hui ist das der Führerstand der alten Sbahnen? Ist ja sehr sehr rudimentär. Wieso sind da keine Funkgeräte erlaubt?
das ist nur die Mittelkonsole, oder was meinst du mit "rudimentär"?

@@RTSRafnex2 ah come on, vergleich das doch mal mit dem Führerstand so ziemlich jeder anderen Lok seit den 90ern.. selbst die 103 hatte da deutlich mehr zu bieten.
Was fehlt denn noch? Alles was man braucht ist da. Ich kenne nicht einen Lokführer, der nicht gerne mit diesem Zug fährt. Der DPZ ist sehr beliebt.

The white balance tripped a bit, but only in the beginning. I still wanted to include the run from the depot, because that's something my viewers don't usually get to see.
