As a musician ( guitarist, bassist for 20 + years), getting into modern beat making and arranging was very hard. I had to learn to play less and leave room for the rappers or vocalist. Your explanation at the start of the video was on point. Great video still 4 years later.

After i graduated from college last month i decided to go for music i had no idea what i needed for real but after doing a lot of googling i decided to go with presonus interface and Studio One, still i had no idea how to do things but after discovering your channels i have grown from nothing to something thanks to you. Almost through with the beats and the basics so i have one request, am moving into vocals please do a simple tutorial on how to lay down tracks that sit right into the mix. I trust your tuts.

Thanks I've been making 4 and 8 bar loop for years and putting them away never completing them , now I know how to stretch them out also I've had studio one in the box and haven't opened yet , gotta get my @$$! together . This video was major motivation !!!!

Filtering the bell melody will also help differentiate the verses from the chorus in this scenario. My background is in rock/blues/jazz guitar and other live instruments, so I can have trouble finding a chorus or a verse because my instinct tells me I need completely different chords for a chorus, which isn't always the case in hip-hop/R&B/downtempo. I'd love to see a video on risers, buildups, drops etc. as I'm still getting used to Studio One coming from Pro Tools and Ableton before that.

I been on your shit for some days now and its by far the best "Studio One" tutorial... When do you/How do you diffrentiate using SampleOne from Impact on your drums? It just goes along with how your feeling that day, or certain vibe of the song?
I don't use impact anymore. When I used to use sample one in2.6 there would always be a glitch that froze the project, studio one never fixed the problem so that's why I have older videos using impact. now I just use sample one cause it's sooooo easy to brows the folders!

Ive just recently been puttin those little stops in my vst parts for this same reason, to give it that sampled and not-basic (haha) feel, plus it doesnt sound long drawn out and mundane sounding. Never thought to do it till recently, dont know why. Subtle but important lil tips you been droppin. Dope tutorial once again my G hey, just remembered somethins been buggin me. when i make say a drum track with impact, then copy it out a couple times in the sequence window, all of the cells get that little 'ghost' icon small in the left bottom corner of the cell , then say i go to make a small change in the edit of the first one, it makes all of the cells have that new change. knowatimean. i notice yous doesnt do that when you record one in. any idea?

Jackie Garrett just find the folder you saved them in an open them up. Google or TH-cam "where's my maschine expansions saved" if u have that much trouble. This is basic computer skills fam. Don't be intimidated

Is this Studio One 3? My sylenth disappeared when I upgraded to 3.0. How do you make it show up and compatible with 3.0?
