One of quirkiest guitar players ever. His vibratolicious attack is unmatched. One of the most original sounds of a lead guitarist. Great influence for anyone. True pioneer.

Most of the haters here don't realize the George isn't using a custom rack or a Fractal Audio AxeFx2 like most of his peers would refuse to play live without. This is an amp a guitar and maybe a Phaser or Wah pedal possibly. Pretty much just a raw sound and none of the frills of the 80's George sound. In other words It Sounds Awesome.
this is an absolute beast of a performance by GL. i hear it all...blues, jazz, rock, metal all tastefully mixed into a story using dynamics and feel which comes after 50 years of playing guitar. Great litmus test of a video for sorting out people who actually understand what is going on here and those who just need to chill and get out of their protective musical comfort zone. I've always thought GL as an edgier, more metaly Jeff Beck. Takes you on a trip for sure...if you let it. Dude's got nothing left to prove to anyone, pushing 60+ but still got the moves. Legend.
So well said. Not many take you places like Jeff Beck does/did but man George sure does here. And to be pushing his own limits and boundaries at 60yo+ is just phenomenal. Legend indeed.
You know I never really thought about it until you mentioned it. But a modern Jeff Beck is the perfect description of GL’s playing. I love that description. I wonder what it would be like to see them play together? Amazing I would guess!
I’ve always loved George Lynch. He is an amazing player that has his own style and tone. I watch TH-cam and listen to some of the newer guitarists and while they are amazing technically you can’t tell one from the other. In my opinion, the period of music history that George is from bred some of the greatest guitarists ever.
Saw this legend at VanHalen's Monsters of Rock in 1988. So bad ass, amazing tone, technique,a total fucking player. That this man is still going strong just makes me say fuck yeah. Go get 'em George! A total master! These kids ragging on his appearance - guess what. That journey through life ain't easy,it'll wear all of us down, just accept that and keep that passion burning. George has got it, his soul ain't changed abit. The man is timeless.
Has anyone talked about or noticed the best part about this performance...the grove and pocket of the drummer and bass player?! Held it down solid for ten minutes. Who wouldn't love to jam a solo over that?!
I couldnt take ten minutes of that. I wouldve cut that shit in half! You can only do cool shit over that pattern for about a minute and it gets really dull!
I read a lot of bad comments here, probably by kids still in their teens... Keep living, keep playing for about 20-30 years and you won`t be as good as this cat right here.. He has evolved into a great man and musician. Fuck the haters! Go listen to Bieber....
no ,this jam sucks and it just proves that hair metal guitar wankers can't really play anything but tricks with loads of distortion, put them in a classic rock or heavy blues situation and they fail. the playing in this solo is a fucking mess, no dynamics, repetitively uninteresting and doesn't go anywhere. It is ex metal teens like you who want to believe the illusion that your guitar wanker heroes are actually musically relevant ,they aren't..

This performance is so good In that respect that he could care less his pants are falling off! He could care less about unflattering camera angles and his fading hair line.! He is truly one with a guitar that is not designed to mask sloppiness with a screamin demon pickup! This is really George being George! Really vulnerable showing every ounce of feeling and emotion he has! It’s pretty amazing !
I love how the Junior brings out a new side of Georges playing... it just so happens that all sides of his playing are spellbinding. Love you Mr. Scary!
Anybody dumping on George for "sloppiness" here is an ignoramus. Especially if you are a younger rock player, who might be a fans of the newest technical players. You are standing on George's shoulders without even realizing it. As far as the perfection you seem to expect... If YOUR hands aren't somewhat compromised at 63, I'd be surprised. Barry Sparks I read or heard an interview where he said that his first guitar was a mint yellow 1960 les Paul Jr that he eventually nodded himself by painting it black with house paint and filing the frets down or something along those lines.
George’s first guitar that he owned that he saved up $60 and his dad helped with the rest was a guitar very similar to this Gibson. 1960 les Paul Special. I bet that guitar he’s playing in this video means a lot to him. I know he doesn’t have the first one he bought, kinda cool that a similar Gibson found his way back to him. Awesome! Cheers!

Stayed in perfect rhythm for 10 straight minutes! And with so much passion...
George is fantastic! One of my favorites. Everyone who wants to get rid of stagnation and the same licks needs to briefly study his technique. Sometimes we play things that don't always need to sound "difficult", but that sound different from most and I learned this path with George.
dont bash george,,,,this was such a grimey and nasty solo!!! full of emotion ,living legend and his no shirt is a sign of he dosent give a damn about rules in the life!! hes awsomee and so was this performance!!!!
Brandon Jefferson Yeah it was awesomely bad.
yeah that was terrible on the ears
LONE WOLF1 he walked onstage picked up his guitar and starts jamming no hassels , no worries and takes off right where he left, the man is awesome...
Please post up your video of YOU playing guitar... LMFAO!
Also please post up how many millions of albums you sold, how many people you have influenced as a guitar player... how many magazine covers you've graced... How many sold out concerts you've played.
LMFAO at the tools posting here.
If you and those others who think he sounds bad had bigger ears than an ant you would realize just how cool what he is playing is. Open up those ears for something more than hanging your sunglasses on.
His name is George .... and that counts .. still listen to his revs lots of times.. love it..
he still has it!
Awesome jam there! George is so unorthodox. That was out there in outer space!! Love it George!
George being George. Jamming! And the shirt? Shit hes done that his whole career. Hes either had some sort of a tanker or cut off shirt or nothin. Respect.
I have a lot of respect man, he is a one of a kind!!
