※ This has been an ongoing issue for me, but I don’t really know how to translate 来 (lai / come) in most contexts. Its usage can be something like "let's do this" or “bring it on”, except (in my opinion) for most instances, both of those phrases are too aggressive. "Bring it on" just makes it sound like you’re picking a fight lmao. I’ve been translating it literally, but while the meaning can still be understood in English, people don’t usually say “come” in the same contexts that they might in Chinese. Or at least, I don't think so...translating has made me feel like I need to relearn English...

​@@qiqi9568 Also, I totally agree on the translating thing. In my case it really make me realize how lacking I am on both languages! Connotations in the two languages make it so hard to find a satisfying translation even for (or maybe especially for) the most commonly used words!

@@sigcius5450 not a translator but as someone who has like 3 native languages and trying to translate a phrase never feels enough because the nuance can never be fully translated. Sometimes I just end up explaining the idea "it's like no, but not agressive just calm disagreement, you get the idea" and end up using the untranslated term the rest of the conversation lol.
