  • Not all border crossings are the same.. Before arriving at one be sure to have the correct information!
WILD LAOS - We Couldn't Cross into Vietnam from Laos
We make our way from Muang Khua to Muang Mai in the province of Phongsali.. the closest large village to the Laos -
vietnam border crossing of Sop Hun - Tay Trang. It was a last minute decision to try and make our way across, a decision that should have been made before travelling this far. since covid there have been some changes and you can not just arrive at this border and expect to receive a visa on arrival to enter Vietnam. It has to be arranged before hand and given a letter of approval. All was not lost though, it was still a village we wished to visit, and we got help some people along the way. Now we continue back the way we came to Muang Khua and then onto Muang Xai in oudomxai to get the car repaired... That's another story.. Enjoy!

As an expat that lives in Thailand I've been to Laos 3 times and my last. It has a lot of natural beauty. It's also a dump in most cases with rude people and nothing to offer. It's hard to find something edible to eat, it's dirty, the money useless (for a reason), horrible roads, warm beer, no nightlife or entertainment of any kind. If you live there and like it for some reason that's on you. Please don't trick anybody else into going there. That's not nice.

I LOVED Laos. I went to Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Singapore. Laos is my no.1 want to go back and see more. It really does depend on the person. My travel buddy loved Vietnam the most.

Keep your ridiculous comments to yourself , Todd and Ni Ni don't try to trick anyone to go to Laos , in writing that comment everyone has a pretty good picture of the person you are , if you didn't like the country why watch a channel dedicated to it 🤷‍♂️ jog on 👊

Culinarc.. maybe you can explain how you think I trick people 🤔
"Rude people.." that's your interpretation and many would disagree.
"Hard to find edible food to eat.." that's on your culinary tastes mate, Mr Ramsay would disagree.
I've never said the roads were good and have always warned people of their condition.
Plenty of Live entertainment every night of the week in the capital, but maybe not the entertainment you prefer.
"Warm beer".. ? Then chill it ya sook, like everybody else does!

    Todd superb videography as always
I knew I recognized the town you started the vlog in
Tried a back and forth on a day trip from Dien Bien phu with the group I was with back in the day
It was a difficult long customs process despite already having the paperwork in order and never succeeded
We went north again in Vietnam to Dien Bien Phu on the domestic itinerary we had
Keep up the the good work that u and Nene do

Hi Todd and Neenee, thank you for another interesting video from the north. I would like to go to the north also but the daily bad news about the street conditions the way up from Savannakhet let me wait a little longer. Funny the thing with the car pass book! We had the same issue when trying to cross to Thailand to catch a flight from Ubon. It is only valid one year. Good luck in Savannakhet it was easy and fast to extend it so we finally got the flight.

Dien Bien Phu or what Lao call Muang Thenh is on my bucket list. Use to be a part of Laos or a part of the Lao Kingdoms.
It’s where Lao people came from, followed the river to the Nam Ou and down to LuangPrabang where they settled
And all along the way they established these villages.
From Loungprabang they went to establish Sukothai, but that’s a whole other country 😂

Great droners,,great music,,even a bit of the Glimmer Twins! Cant always get what you want,,one of my all time faves. Its sooo bloody sarcastic. You never answered the burning question,,,whether or not that restaurant had spring rolls? From her expression,,I'd say it was a big no. Your correct about that old poster,,that was very cool. I've seen similiar here,,featuring native American tribes,,I think 12 or so recognized in Montana. Lmao,,if I never knew we were mates before,,I do now,,I too describe different stinks,,as related to different flavors of shit. Garbage depot and dog shit smell lmfao🤣😂😅🤢 omg that was funny!
