…. Just one of those days Tim…. Still another excellent vlog. As always, very well narrated …. All the very best for the Christmas festivities and wishing you a very Happy and Healthy 2024. Hopefully with lots of vlogs too 👍🏻😊
Thanks Peter. Yes - one of those days to remember for all the wrong reasons. Still, what would life be if we'd nothing to moan about? Have a good festive season - oh, and I've just discovered that the Blue Pullman is returning on Thursday - and the weather forecast isn't bad either. Let's see what we get!
Excellent video capture Tim, as usual FS attracts the maddening crowed lol. I heard the station announcer at 6.10 announce my favorite home town station , Wigan Northwestern, haven’t heard that in many a year! Best wishes for 2024 and keep up the great work.
Many thanks. Actually, the regulars thought that the crowds were quite small for 60103, but the weather forecast for the day had been grim. The promised rain didn't arrive until after the Scotsman's departure - but then it turned up with a vengeance. The noise on the station roof was deafening. Thankfully Dumfries was fairly dry by the time I got back. Every good wish to you and yours for the coming festive season.
Magnificent catches of the trains coming by and depart from the stations, I like it 5 stars. Thumbs up. Keep up the great work, my friend, you earned a new subscriber, Greetings from Portugal to the UK.
Thank you. Good to hear from you and glad that you enjoyed the video. I'll try to keep it up in 2024. In the meantime - Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the UK to Portugal.
Over the years there have been a couple of instances where faulty editing has produced a ghostly appearance on the platforms at the Citadel - but this is the first time one has commented! Thank you - and best wishes for the coming festive season.
You can never trust Trans Pennine. I was going to go to Manchester model railway show and as a bonus see the class 50's at Victoria, it was a horrid day and when I checked on the trains about half were not running so I did not bother setting off. I got to York for Royal Scot the other day and said Carlisle is a better place but you never know which way or platform they will choose to go, once again you were taken by surprise, still an enjoyable video despite the problems. Have a happy Christmas and wish you well for the New Year.
Interesting and varied as allways tim, so many stories of canelled trains, i too have been caught out on the few times i travel recentley, must do better i say or the roads will become gridlocked, last steam to Carlisle this year tim, so all the best, cheers Steve . 🙂
2023 has not been a good year for travelling by train, particularly for anyone dependent on Trans-Pennine Express. Fortunately, my local ScotRail service has been very good, apart from taking off the late night train from Glasgow - but the late bus service from Buchanan Bus Station to Dumfries disappeared at the same time, so late concerts or the opera in Glasgow now involve an expensive overnight hotel. Edinburgh is a complete impossibility - but then I rarely ever visited the capital so don't really miss it. Have a great Christmas.
Poor old Rabbie - I wonder if he had any idea how often that one line from "To a Mouse" would be quoted in the coming centuries. May bump into you on Thursday evening if you are about the Citadel.
Nice video Tim great camera work as usual I am really enjoying your lovely videos and camera work keep your lovely camera work up I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on TH-cam best wishes Philip xx
You were lucky, my Transpennine from Manchester to Liverpool Lime St was cancelled at the last minute and I was only permitted to use a TPE service immediately before or after the cancelled one and no other company. Difficult to catch a train which has already left an hour earlier!! I was late for my meeting. The previous time I was booked on this service 3 months earlierI had to abandon the same meeting. What a way to run a railway. 🤬
The gentleman who shared a taxi with me was heading for an important rehearsal in Newcastle. The taxi arrived in Carlisle just too late to catch his ongoing connection (Northern Rail) and the next train, an hour later, was cancelled. He never did get to Newcastle. I couldn't use my TPE ticket to get home and had to buy another ticket to use ScotRail's direct service to Dumfries. As you say, what a way . . .
Amazing how much weight Santa has lost in 24 hours😃 This getting a lift on a Sunday has become quite a feat you have managed to engineer for yourself. Hope the camera is OK and that it is fit for service next time around .Many thanks again.
It's not only his weight which has changed dramatically - his accent has also undergone a remarkable transition! I'm still looking forward to future filming - provided that the good lord spares me. Best wishes for Christmas.

Good Tim despite the setbacks. Think a bigger cake would've been better😂. All the best. Here's to 2024.
Thanks David. If there'd been a bigger cake I might even have got a slice! Best wishes reciprocated.
The best made plans ..... as your neighbourhood poet once wrote! All the same, very enjoyable Tim. Season's greetings to you too

Possibly Friday - no promises! Best wishes.
Another great video Tim, out of interest how long did the stock occupy one of the through platforms? Possibly not too much of a problem on a Sunday.
Thanks Kevin. The empty train stood in Platform 3 for just under three hours but, as you say, it was a quiet day. Best wishes.

... but I didn't get a slice of birthday cake!

Didn’t know you were that popular that you needed security protection, Tim.
It's Prince Harry's old team. Now that he's no longer entitled to protection they've passed them on to me!
