Nice to hear a clean audio version of the "You" package from 1976 and the Ron Hicklin Singers. A late friend of mine, Ralph Wright (aka Mike Rivers/Mike Donahue/Ed Richards) worked on the production of the lengthy demo at TM well before he got back into radio at WCAR as Mike Donahue in Detroit in late 1977. He had worked at CKLW as Mike Rivers years before and as Ed Richards at WIBG in Philadelphia where he hired John Records Landecker.
05:43 You, we like what you like We where lot like you You are the night and the day You are the music we play We do it for you on 93 KHJ You, we live where you live We play where you play yeah we do You've made it's one of the kind That's why we keep you in mind We play it for you on 93 KHJ
I hate to be the kind who "Requests" things, but I had heard rumors of TM making a "You 3" package; I've already heard the "You 2" demo for KFRC, but supposedly, "You 3" is super rare--partly because very few stations signed for it. You wouldn't happen to have that package demo floating around?
I heard many years ago that Barry Manilow had something to do with the production of this package when he worked for a jingle company, before he began his singing career. Does anyone know if that rumours true?
@@VBaskin2010- fantastic. Thanks for that. The reason I'm asking is because I was told something similar by a radio station here in the UK that used the "You" custom package back in 1978, but I'd never had it verified. Very interesting he was a TM singer too. Thanks again.
All resung and re-orchestrated for UK station Beacon Radio 303 in 1977. And they were much more beefy and more brassy than all of these KHJ resings. You can here some of those jingles here from 2 minutes in th-cam.com/video/Rb4X5pJCar8/w-d-xo.html
The "Boss" stuff, in my opinion, shouldn't be used here because it's anachronistic...the Boss format and the jocks were all long gone by the time this package was rolled out. The only boss jock that stayed after RKO jettisoned the Boss format was overnighter Johnny Williams, who moved to a more hospitable daypart.
wannawatchu66 I just try to keep things visually interesting. I’ll often use photos from the era of the audio, and a few years before, leading up to the era. Just tying to keep from posting the one logo slide from 1974 for the whole video.
@@EllisFeaster The funny thing was that almost every time in the 70s KHJ tried a new jingle package, within a few months they seemed to be back to the Johnny Mann acapellas--the one exception being when John Sebastian took over as PD and dropped jingles completely--even then, when they came back to jingles in 1979 it was initially the Drake AA package.

You are wonderful thank you for all the great radio memories I mean that keep up the good work
Jeffrey Thomas Jr Thanks! If you have any audio I can upload, please let me know. I’m trying to grow the collection as large as I can!
TM Studios revived this package when the Adult Hits format took hold...especially the JACKFM branding. Not all the cuts were used.

These jingles were written by Barry Manilow, and I love 'em!

PIX Promos & More I don’t. I didn’t even know if it’s existence! I’ll ask around and see if anyone has it.
Lyrics on this jingle please

Actually Barry did start at TM as a member of the TM Jingle Singers when he did the "You" jingle package a long time ago.

Yes, Barry wrote them.
FirstCom redo the "You" jingles for KIIS FM in 1988.
Re-imagined them actually. The horns styles...also FIrstCom did the 1987-89 AT40 jingles.
