  • Mankind is currently facing an unprecedented level of concurrent crises - the pandemic, climate change, resource scarcity, economic stagnation and social and political tensions. Our ossified institutions and dysfunctional structures seem incapable of providing solutions, which we, of course, want to be easy, quick and costless. Satyajit Das, in association with a surprise guest, promises to cut through the data, ‘fake’ news, gloom and Pollyanna logic.
Join Das for the inaugural E. W. Cole Lecture as he delivers a memorable and surprisingly playful examination of the greatest crises facing our world today, and unconventional ideas for how we might go about solving them. Following a 40-minute lecture, Das will be joined by host Sally Warhaft to further analyse and interrogate his ideas.
Satyajit Das is a globally respected former banker and consultant with over forty years’ experience in financial markets. He is the international bestselling author of Traders, Guns & Money: Knowns and Unknowns in the Dazzling World of Derivatives, Extreme Money: The Masters of the Universe and the Cult of Risk, and A Banquet of Consequences.
The annual E. W. Cole Lecture invites Australia's brightest thinkers to deliver talks that spark optimistic, progressive and future-thinking ideas for our society and our world, and celebrate the fruitful intersection of intellect and play.
Supported by The E. W. Cole Foundation.

Yes. The core is the fraudulent debt-based money system itself. It is a zero-sum game where insiders siphon the money credits and leave the inextinguishable debt for Main Street to choke on.

Entertaining. At least he is not just one sided on facts.
