Alain de Botton on The News

The latest offering from author and philosopher Alain de Botton sees him focusing his steely glare on our troubled and confused relationship with the media. Love the talk about but have one question - the problem with the comparison between modern news system with the Renaissance churches is that human naturally has a fear of death. This fear had existed for thousands of years prior to religion and in a way gave birth to religion. So it was much easier for the church to build on this solid foundation and increase its influence, especially science was not that developed in contrast.
