Hey, folks! So I wanted to mention in my videos tonight, the part of southern California I live in is supposed to get hit with a big tropical storm this weekend (almost hurricane-level), and though I'm not in an area with major flood concerns, the winds and rain are supposed to be strong enough that my electrical company sent out emails saying power might be interrupted multiple times this weekend. So I'm not sure how many reactions I'll be able to shoot in the next couple days. Apologies but I'll get in what I can. Cheers!
Cheers, appreciate that! Lucca says "hi!" too. Also, I'm probably going to get some more gaming videos in this weekend too (power allowing). I already have part 3 of the Super Mario World journey recorded (just need to sound-check the audio). :)

At 11:11 AM in Buenos Aires On the eve of starting with the songs from the B-side of the Voyage album I share some exclusive statistics of these first 5 songs The first thing is to say that the accumulated views of the album have already exceeded 10,000, and its average is over 2,000, ranking fourth so far, behind Super Trouper, The Album and Voulez Vous in that order. This is especially due to the excellent impact of its two main songs, which already have well over 2,500 views. "I still have faith in You" is already in the Top5 of all your musical reactions and "Don't shut me down" just reached the Top10 also "When you danced with me" has more than 2000 views and is in the Top25 of your ABBA playlist "Just a Notion" is about to reach 1500 views "Little things" is the one with the least impact, with more than 1200 views And all this is completed with very enriching and experiential comments from all the fans.
You are now halfways through the Voyage album! And I hope you have enjoyed it? The second half of the album is - as others have mentioned - a bit more dark and sinister - yet with hope and positivity! And halfway through I think it is time to sum up how Voyage made it in the charts: In its first week it hit the no. 1 spot in 18 - eighteen! - countries! And not to forget - no. 2 in the US - the highest position for an ABBA album ever in US! In the UK, Voyage sold more copies in the first week than all other 39 albums in the top 40 - combined. It became the fastest selling vinyl LP in the UK in the 21st century! And by now it has sold appr. 2,5 - 3 million copies worldwide! So - well done ABBA! ❤❤❤❤
This is a brilliant example of the Swedish genre "dansband" - dance band - that developed during the 60s and 70s. Made for dancing! Think of eternal summer nights that never gets darker than a whitish dusk, people gathering in rural dancing grounds. A huge popular movement, still alive. Camp to the bone, but fun!
another comment From successive studies carried out after the release of the Voyage album, there are some very interesting data (Bobby's Brother's channel has done a lot of research on this) "Just a Notion" is the fifth and final track on the A-side of Voyage, it closes the 'lighter and happier' side of the album. (B-side has more 'dense and thematic' tracks) if you remember the lyrics of "Don't shut me down" it applies in this song the "now and then combined" that prepares us mentally for the new Voyage Concerts and if you join the last piano chord pass in "Don't shut me down" with the beginning of the same piano in "Just a Notion" (almost 40 years apart!) it's absolutely fantastic.

The vocals (except perhaps for the final couple of lines) were recorded in 1978 but the demo was dropped from the Voulez Vous album. The instrumentation is 2021. My one gripe is that in the repeated semi chorus part Agnetha's vocal is put higher in the mix. In the original recorded piece, Frida's vocal is equally prominent. Not sure why they chose to do that. Anyway, a good song capturing a 'now and then' essence which sums up the Voyage show currently in London.
This was recorded during the Voulez Vous album but was not completed. Instead, Angeleyes took its place. New vocals were added near the end of the song. Agnetha's voice is more prominent here.

And a third comment from me! The next two songs I’m really looking forward to seeing your reactions. A classic heart-renching ballad and an amazing synth driven track with an unusual subject for a song.
There was a segment of this song on the ABBA Undeleted CD , the 4th CD on ABBA's Boxed Set in the 90s. This song was remixed, with some added vocals and instrumentals. I'm probably one of the few fans that liked the earlier version better. It seemed to feature Frida, Agnetha, and I think Bjorn more prominently, vocally.

"Just a notion" being the completion of an earlier track from the 1970s. I think the "more than a notion" bit a the end is them more recently. ABBA do site The Beach Boys as an influence.
Oh nice, I sometimes worry when I make comparisons, because if fans of one group don't like the group I'm comparing them to, then they might take it the wrong way. But if ABBA have cited them as an influence, then I'm glad I did mention it.
@@mattsnider2667 with BEATLES and Beach Boys any comparison is more than fine both groups are the two main ABBA references for their music I think Lennon-McCartney for their composition and Beach Boys for their vocal harmonies especially Benny Andersson has confessed to being a Beach Boys fan in every interview when asked about his favorite group
A really great and joyful song! You can't be angry afrer listening to this! And it has that 1950-60' s sound and feel to it that made you want to dance! As others have mentioned the vocals are from the 1978 Voulez-Vous recording sessions, and the instrumentation is from 2021! A perfect mix of "Now and then combined" as sung in Don't Shut Me Down! ❤️ The next is a really social realistc ballad of a dysfunctional relationship! Very emotional!
This is the closer to side A which is more innocent Abba.B side is kinda dark at times but also sophisticated.'You can call side A 'romance' and side B 'drama' as another reviewer' had said.
Agnetha's vocal track from this was done back in the 70's. It'a floating around for a long time as an unfinished track. But Benny really brought that to life when he added all his piano tracks. He's great.
Love that song. I’d recommend to you listening and reacting to the „ABBA Undeleated“ track from a 1994 box set. It’s a 20 minute track of several unreleased ABBA songs and how they evolved in the studio (before getting dismissed or completely changed). It’s a fascinating insight into their workings and you can hear snippets of them singing „Just a Notion“ and also some other wonderful but yet unreleased songs.
Great song which is a remake of their song from the 70's that was never completed, the ending vocals was of course them now. The next song im really looking forward too, its a heartbreaking beautiful song in the way Winner takes it all was, you really hear Agnetha's mature voice in this and she sounds amazing
I wasn't that fond of it when i had listened to the demo sample of this 'honky tonky 'number. But it grew on me and came to love it since it's Abba..The song suffers from a faulty compressed mix proving M.Tretows lack of contribution. Also in the '78 demo Both girls voices were equally balanced and heard while to this one i hear more Agnetha being prominent. Many fans wanted "JUST LIKE THAT" to be reworked instead of this. But for me there's room for both of them. in the album.Still hope...
@marvinpoprockfan If you've heard Gemmini's verson(where only the chorus was kept) there's an extra verse '''in a way i was the one to deceive/always accepting the fact he would leave'.Well i would have only stick this to the original Abba's JLT recording and left anything else 'untouched'.Btw i'm fond of the 'Na na na' take.
Now you have completed the first half of Voyage album, I'm looking forward to see your reactions about the next half. I dare to summarize my own humble opinion about these five tracks: ISHFIY: Epic 10/10. When you danced with me: Sweet & catchy 9/10. Little things: Acceptable 7/10. DSMD: Masterpiece 10/10. Just a notion: Sweet & danceable 9/10.
Bit of a cheeky one this. They used the original vocals from the 1970's recording session. Benny then re-recorded some of the instruments for this album
This deals with alchoholic addiction.Sad lyrics but disarmingly honest and finally hopeful. It's a country ballad.Just to let Matt know.I hope he is safe from the Californian storm btw.
This deals with a heavily problematic relationship hinting the cause of its toxicity was alchohol addiction.Sad lyrics but disarmingly honest and finally hopeful. It's a country ballad.Just to let Matt know.I hope he is safe from the Californian storm btw.
Prefer the 1079 crunch disco version and thought it would be better placed on the Voulez vous album than say i have a dream or chiquitita. I like the bounce of the song and the energy, it feels like a full on ever lasting chorus a bit like I do i do I do i do I do). So glad we eventually got a full version.
When the original snippet was released in 1994 on the track ‘ABBA Undeleted’ (still hoping you get to that one day!) I really didn’t like it. It was severely lacking something. But I really enjoy the Voyage version. Benny finally perfected it after 43 years!
I love this one very much. Very uplifting. The.mix could be better and also the outro I feel. It doesnt really fit on this album but for me it is my 3th favorite on first hearing
This one proved to be somewhat of a disappointment for me because my expectations were high with a proposed new recording. What do we know? An analogue unfinished old demo was done during the Voulez Vous sessions but was abandoned. Fast forward to 1999 and an Abba tribute band approached Abba to record the song and permission was given. It gave the possibility of what it could be. Fast forward again to 2021 and we finally get Abba's revised version. Upon my first listening to it, I immediately felt something was sonically not right with the mixing. The new backing track was very top heavy in the mix and the lead vocal seemed sonically flat. The backing vocals especially seemed very murky and heavily recessed in the mix. When I realised Agnetha's voice sounded quite young, it clicked that it wasn't a new vocal. They have used vocal elements from the old demo and slapped it on the new backing track. Agnetha's vocals sound OK but lack crispness. Frida may have recorded her vocal on a separate track because it is removed from the lead vocal with Agnetha. Suffering most are the murky backing vocals which sound very muddy in the mix . Presumably this is to hide the deficiencies in the old analogue recording. There appears to be some new backing vocals at the very end but they are somewhat buried in the mix as well to likely match the old analogue backing vocals in the song . It would stand out like a sore thumb, otherwise. For the life of me I cannot understand why they didn't redo the vocals since they were in the studio. I suppose it was just for convenience sake related to age , but I still think it was a missed opportunity because it had potential. The track as it stands now is just OK, but it could have been so, so much more if they redid the vocals .
This is one of the songs ditched in 1978. Like White Sombrero and other abandoned tracks it was leaked and heavily bootlegged, finishing and releasing it is fan service, and, like with the other previously junked tracks, i'm not a fan. The 1978 vocals stand out like a sore thumb and really stop Voyage from being its own thing. It's not included on my playlist for the album and the other tracks benefit. Pretty sure no one here will be agreeing with me. Hey ho! :)
I agree. The whole thing just struck me as lazy, couldn't be bothered. Slap on a new backing and bury the dodgy vocals deep in the mix so no-one will notice the deficiencies.
@@The_Jupiter2_Mission OMG, so true! The only band I've ever considered myself a fan of is ABBA because by the time they'd split i was old enough to realise that ‘fan’ is a contraction of ‘fanatic’ and i don't think fanaticism helps anything. There isn't one album of theirs where i like every track but, like you said, if you don't gush over everything you're not a ‘real fan’. I think the opposite is true, if you don't approach a piece of work with a critical eye, or ear, then how can you possibly say you like it, if there's been no judgement then there's no appreciation. I guess i'm just not very tribal. Thanks for proving me wrong! :D
@@txxredtache So far after one side, I only rate the album above Ring Ring & Waterloo if I put sentimentality of the circumstance aside. I'm more into preserving a legacy than wallowing in comeback sentiment. I say that as someone who was at their concert in Sydney as a child. I'm a first generation fan from the last century! I've been a fan longer than likely most here. It's OK to say not everything is a masterpiece. B&B have even said they reckon they wrote about a dozen really good songs all up of their catalogue. Perhaps a little harsh of them but i get what they mean by it.
@@The_Jupiter2_Mission I honestly think that two of their best tracks are on Voyage. To my mind every one of their albums has been a mixed bag. I've never sat and ranked them, but The Album has been my favourite since it'e release (I tend to skip One Man, One Woman and have only recently started listening to The Name Of The Game again). Do you know Lycka, B&B's 1970 album that just happen's to have two uncredited female backing singers? I listen to that more often than half of ABBA's albums. It's freely available now, of course, but it took me years to track down a copy back in the day. Don't know why but i listen to it a lot when i'm out shopping. So if you ever find yourself in a Manchester supermarket and see a 59 year old man singing in Swedish, say hi! 😃
@@txxredtache It's all subjective, but I put Arrival & The Album at 1 & 2 but will switch them around depending on mood. The Album is more complex & sophisticated, but Arrival(with Fernando) is just the perfect pop album.

"Just a Notion"
is ABBA's second single from the upcoming new album "Voyage"
after de first double single "I still have faith in You / Don't shut me down"
and a few weeks before the "Voyage" album was released
It is a curious and unique case at the same time,
it was a song that they recorded in 1978 during the previous sessions for the album "Voulez Vous"
but later they discarded it
And now in this fantastic comeback ABBA retouches it and finally edits it
So it has the double character of old and new song at the same time,
recorded between 43 years (quite a record),
it has the charm of old and new together, and sounds wonderful
"Just a Notion" is a terribly addictive song, impossible to resist dancing to it
Its melody is beautiful, catchy and cheerful, the lyrics are pleasant,
the voices are spectacular (there are great tones from Agnetha, the union with Frida is of excellence
and those A-HA-HA are a brand that is etched in your mind)
It's also a great musical production (the saxophone and the piano shine)
and the ending with the fade out is a beauty
It gives me the impression that
"Just a Notion" is a great piece that stayed
with the spirit of the versatility of "ABBA The Album"
and has not yet been impregnated with the disco sound of "Voulez Vous"
but welcome that now ABBA reconsidered it to include it in the new "Voyage" album
ABBA did it again
This is a new treasure of

Oh nice, I sometimes worry when I make comparisons, because if fans of one group don't like the group I'm comparing them to, then they might take it the wrong way. But if ABBA have cited them as an influence, then I'm glad I did mention it.

with BEATLES and Beach Boys any comparison is more than fine
both groups are the two main ABBA references for their music
I think Lennon-McCartney for their composition
and Beach Boys for their vocal harmonies
especially Benny Andersson has confessed to being a Beach Boys fan
in every interview when asked about his favorite group
Just a notion it's a banger of a happy song😊 And as usual, layer upon layer of musical and vocal blending perfection🎉
Just makes me a happy chappy😊❤
Such a great funky song. What drive! An amazing song to sing along to, it leaves you with an enormous boost of positive vibes. Love it!
🙏Take care there in Southern California🖐and greetings from New England.
Glad you enjoyed the fun and lightness. That can only mean one thing; heartache on the horizon. Stay tuned....
The next is a really social realistc ballad of a dysfunctional relationship! Very emotional!
'you can't be angry after listening to this"...ha!ha!,no sir you can't.
I want Benny at the piano at my next party.
You can tell the vocals are from 1978 but the additional piano added does give it that edge that makes it better than the original.
This is the closer to side A which is more innocent Abba.B side is kinda dark at times but also sophisticated.'You can call side A 'romance' and side B 'drama' as another reviewer' had said.
Sounds like the genrre "dansbandsmusik" to us Swedish😃🇸🇪
Thank you for another great video reaction!🌷🌷🌷🌷
@marvinpoprockfan You're so right, I agree a 100%!
They sound like they did then because this was recorded in 1978 and not released until this album.
I really hope for the release of Just Like That too - one day hopefully 🙌
@marvinpoprockfan If you've heard Gemmini's verson(where only the chorus was kept) there's an extra verse '''in a way i was the one to deceive/always accepting the fact he would leave'.Well i would have only stick this to the original Abba's JLT recording and left anything else 'untouched'.Btw i'm fond of the 'Na na na' take.
Now you have completed the first half of Voyage album, I'm looking forward to see your reactions about the next half. I dare to summarize my own humble opinion about these five tracks:
ISHFIY: Epic 10/10.
When you danced with me: Sweet & catchy 9/10.
Little things: Acceptable 7/10.
DSMD: Masterpiece 10/10.
Just a notion: Sweet & danceable 9/10.
I almost agree with your score and concepts
I differ only a little in
"When you danced with me" 8pts
"Little things" 6/7pts
Bit of a cheeky one this. They used the original vocals from the 1970's recording session. Benny then re-recorded some of the instruments for this album
Ahhhh, okay, so that youthful sound on some of the vocals was authentic. Gotcha, cheers for that.
Let's Jive 🕺💃. 😉💞
The next track, I Can Be That Woman, is probably Agnetha's best vocal performance on this album.
Once they'd decided to not release the original version of this, they recycled the "Ahh- ah-ah" part for Angeleyes instead. I love both tracks 😊❤
I have to admit, those first 30 seconds that sound like some cheesy Disneyland, bear jamboree, joke, novelty song ruined the whole thing for me.
Oh my god, I remember those Bears. I still had fun with the tune but cheers for reminding me of going to Frontier Land and eating at the Hungry Bear Restaurant, lol.
