Considering foden hasn't been played in his correct position, at least foden leaving and going back to England for family matters
will force southgate to start Gordon on the left. As long as Gordon has a great game and effect the game in a positive way with
perhaps a assist or something like that, he could hold onto that position solving 1 problem. If that happens and foden does
come back it could force southgate into a situation where he cant drop Gordon, so he might actually have to use foden in his
favourite position, or use both Bellingham and Foden as rotation players. It could also force southgate to use Bellingham
alongside rice, which would free up the 10 position for foden and palmer. If foden doesnt come back, then we still have
Bellingham who could actually start playing well or palmer, who might be given a chance as a 10. Foden leaving could
actually accidentally fix England and force sothgate to make the right decisions. England might actually start to play at
      their level.

Said the point about Pickford during the Denmark game also - so many times, Foden, Rice etc would show for a ball along the floor from pickford, he would ignore and hit long, Kane would jump lose the ball and Denmark would come at us again. At club level big teams DCM show for the ball even with a player on their back, the keeper gives it and the team retain possession. not sure if its cos he plays for Evertona dn Dyche but he looks to hit it long as hard as he possibly can every time.

It's evident that the established players in the group: Pickford, Walker, Trippier Stones, Rice, Bellingham, Saka and Kane have become a reflection of Southgate's drab personality. They're not exhibiting leadership when it's needed i.e. when the team drops deep after scoring. And the attackers seem to be playing safe, playing with fear and not taking risks. Compare the performances of these lot, to the energy, creativity and risk-taking that Palmer, Mainoo and Gordon showed on the pitch. The new players haven't had time to absorb Southgate's negativity and are therefore able to play with some flair and freedom.

Southgate is possibly the luckiest England manager in history. He's been gifted arguably the best squad of players the country has ever had. He's had the easiest tournament route in the last three major competitions, yet he has failed. Quite how he wasn't sacked, or had the balls to walk away after the Euro 2020 final debacle is proof the FA have some serious questions to answer on this saga.
He's reduced the best players in the Spanish and German leagues, and aguably the best player in the Premier League to league one players at best within less than two weeks. He's clearly lost the dressing room. The players look absolutely clueless on the pitch, even Harry Kane said in an interview that they weren't clear on how they should press.
This will not get better until Southgate is sacked, or finally realises he is managing way beyond his ability and does the right thing and leave.

Not taking Grealish is something I didn't understand especially as Jack showed him in the game prior 'exactly' what options he can give Southgate.
I am convinced he just doesn't seem to know what he wants - caught betwixt. I don't under estimate that he has real issues to contend with like out of form and tired players that he has to navigate. Southgate should have been shitcanned after the World Cup. What the hell was England thinking. They lost because of his tactics. They’re not scoring because of his tactics now. It’s not necessarily the players because he has them in the wrong positions.
Not playing the space in behind and playing Henderson side/back pass football.
The game changed with Palmer coming on.
Kane cannot play with Bellingham……either put Jude in the false 9 or bench Kane. He isn’t getting service anyways.

Spain and Germany won the WC in 2010 & 2014, and they both had one thing in common, at that time Pep Guardiola was managed a club in that nation, was that just coincidence ? no, if you look at the squad, most of the players in the starting eleven came from the club Pep was managed, he basically preparing an instant meal for the national manager to cook and win a tournament, but somehow, England fails to do so, why ? because the minimum requirements is to have a proper manager.

    • @olela6018
      @olela6018 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

Well Germany's players all said that Pep's influence was the downfall of the German NT. He had only been there for a season, the season before, both German teams got to the UCL final. Pep had nothing to do with Germany's success, but more to do with their lack of post-success. Watch how Germany played in any of the 2014 games, it was counter-attacking high press, klopp jupp huynckes style football. with pace and power. Averaged 53% possession. Almost anti-pep.

@@olela6018 what player ? named them, and proof they really said that ? you clearly never watch football your entire life, you never watch how german played before and after Pep arrived, 53% is anti pep ? LOL, how many possession you think they should average ? 70 ? 90 ? and you think Pep style doesn't high press ? how do think they get high possession without high press ? he's the one that developed Lahm to play midfield, and Neuer to play ball on his feet, and 7 players played under Pep in that German squad including the winning goal scorer Gotze.

Seeing as England have to play Slovakia now and not the Netherlands, perhaps England can afford to "rest" Bellingham (looks tired), Saka (does not look fit) and Foden (who is away for personal reasons and not back til late).
I would try Gordon left wing, Palmer as CAM and Bowen right wing. So far Englands attack has been disjointed, not creating much against so.called "lesser" opposition and general lacking.
Putting in Gordon, Palmer and Bowen would mean having 3 players who are direct, who like to run and beat their man (Gordon and Bowen especially who will hug the touchline), who have been in form for their clubs and who will want to put in a shift and impress. They are direct, have pace and can score and more importantly they will be playing IN THEIR BEST POSITIONS.
Put Rice and Mainoo behind and freshen things up. It is not rocket science. Just stop experimenting and play players who are in form and in their natural positions in a formation that suits them.
Englands problems have been the imbalance in first eleven, players looking tired or players just out of form and Southgate has to stop being so stubborn and freshen it up.
Things were so bad against Slovenia Italian TV said England were like "Snails on holiday" there was so little movement and desire.

I have to believe that Southgate has not become incompetent over night. It has to be a genius master plan. We've qualified top of the group playing the worst football I have ever seen in my life. He's playing 3 right backs at once & 6 central midfielders including "Kane the striker". There's no pressing, no movement, no running, no ideas, no plan.
SURELY this has been a master plan to make teams underrestimate us in the knockouts when we play full strength and with proper width and depth where we suddenly start playing with creativity like we've seen in the final 2 minutes of each of the group games. IT HAS TO BE!!!
It's simply not true that I all of a sudden could do a better job than Southgate lmao

i think it’s that england right now lack a true playmaker. the man city players are used to having DeBruyne as a clinical dictator, the arsenal players are used to that being Odegaard, the real madrid players are used to that being Kroos or Modric. And both having wingers like Vinicius that will always have to have a shadow and will always take players on one on one, and or having that clinical dictator in the center which allows a winger themself to have the freedom to go one on one, like the saka’s and foden’s,,, i think that’s the difference.
they all like to be going forward with the ball, already like in motion, or having space and people already making runs,, not many of them want or can create that themselves maybe

They are a LW short and instead of adding one you want to take one from the RW.
    Genius.
Will work perfectly with a RB at LB and a RB in midfield.
Has any one thought about Harry Kane as the GK, obvious solution as he knows how a ST thinks and he simply must start. Only problem is he’s not a RB so might not be able to play in someone else’s position.
What’s even better is the best RB doesn’t even want to play for this collective.
