  • Rook Farm on Hayling Island is under threat. Developers (and Havant Borough Council) want to build 300 homes on productive farmland and in the very heart of the Island. It's a Core Feeding Site for Brent Geese and we regularly see up to 1000 birds feeding here between December and March. The knock-on affect on our traffic and infrastructure will be devastating. Please share far and wide if you love Hayling !

A powerful video. The Councillors pay attention to large numbers of written/emailed objections so it’s worth using your own experiences plus whatever you’ve learned about Rook Farm’s habitat & value environmentally, as well as its role in local food production.

I remember the Portsmouth football ground plans to build on what is now Farlington Playing Fields/Holiday Inn Express. This was blocked because of Brent geese feeding. I hope you have good recordings of your geese and it helps stop this madness.

I recognise the need for more housing but this should ONLY be done on "Brown Field Sites" or land deemed to be "difficult" for farming, NOT prime agricultural land. The new housing estate in Emsworth is a case to point, a fairly large estate built on first-class farmland. We live on an overpopulated planet and putting houses on the places we grow food is insane.
