  • In this video we look at the Hop Up Tamiya TRF Aeration Dampers, are they better than the standard CVA’s when fitted to the Stadium Thunder?

Another great video thanks Glen, informative and interesting, without sounding like a (50 yr old!) Groupie you've renewed my interest in modifying my cars so please keep the vids coming 👍👍

    Thank you for this Video.
I was much thinking to buy this shocks but now i really dont know what to do.
Actually i would like the front shocks to be shorter so the car stay's more level during acceleration. But i also dont want to loose suspension travel.
Is a shame Tamiya dont produce the TF HiCap dampers anymore...

😲 You aren't kidding a lot of parts!

I never understood the advantage of aeration shocks. It seems like the mixing of air and oil would be inconsistent as it mixes and un mixes leading to inconsistent damping.

I'm looking at buying a set. I was thinking of fitting them to the topforce having heard they fit, glad In watched this first. Is it Nick Walker that sells the short carbon front shock tower?

They sure look like a nice set of alloy shocks, Glenn. Bit fiddly to build though! Surprised about that little play in the mounting points though - Tamiya should have supplied the correct bushings for the hole size! All the best and a thumbs up from Mark! :))

@@philthyco1 What rigs are they meant for, Phil? I haven't used these shocks before! Is that why there is play in the shock mounts?

I’m really not sure buddy and wouldn’t want to give you the incorrect information, I just had a very quick look on the net, but didn’t see anything 🤔

TAMIYA Legends yeah, I couldn’t find anything about it neither. Well, I still need a few pieces to buy for it, and the shocks might not be its weakest link :)

Wow so many bits, shame you was not told at the time you needed a shorter shock tower. As these are such a nice shock is there a correct kit out there.

    • @TAMIYALegends
      @TAMIYALegends  5 ปีที่แล้ว

No not really😞 For almost all the Tamiya TRF stuff you still need to buy the short front shock tower. It’s all good I’ve decided to go down a different route now with the Top Force 😬👊🏻

I know I know 12 months on but my TRF 501X World Championship Edition came with these shocks and had the low carbon shock tower and they're lovely!
Mind, after sitting for a few months all but 1 shock has lost all their oil and 3 corners of my buggy are nice & shiny! 😂

Could you not buy 2 sets of rears and add a spacer inside the front shock bodies as you do when building the standard CVA shocks?

TAMIYA Legends I was lucky enough to get hold of the special edition top force hi-caps from Tony’s tamiya parts last year. Haven’t built them yet but they look awesome.

This damper set didn't work out for me. 3Racing aluminum oil shocks worked much better and half the price for what I paid for Tamiya damper.

Not worth £50 imo. If they were £30, they'd be worth it.
