In a small Kensington hotel, while visiting Britain in 2008, I happened to meet Janet Brown in the lounge. Not being British, I'd never heard of her but she explained, over refreshments, what she did. In response to my diffident request, she slipped into character for a few moments (we were the only people in the room). The transformation was stunning. As Janet Brown, she was just as she is the latter part of this clip. In character, she was just as in the first part. I even asked how she would handle an interjector, and in response I got a withering improvisation in character. She was truly amazing.
I knew Janet Brown from the 007 movie "For Your Eyes Only". I was like "that can't be Thatcher herself!" so I looked up the cast list and oh... Great actress!
She married Peter Butterworth in 1946! The same year my grandparents married. She seemed so much younger than my grandparents in my memory of the 80's.
I love that so many lefty comedians spent their time impersonating her, often making little cuts and expressing their own personal views, perhaps hoping it might be harming her electoral chances, but along with spitting image, they did her no end of favours leaving the opposition not so much preferable, but unnoticed.

Some of them didn’t they got better through competition? (lower prices or better services). And what’s best? A company’s debt to be the shareholders’ problem, or public’s problem?
