A white hat with a soot covered lid and giving clear concise commands ...that's the kind of chief that will get the job done efficiently with experience and confidence... great video..
Yes he was well aware of the scene and took charge!
Hell yes
Retired Union fire sprinkler Foreman. 30 years firefighter for 5 years before that. No sprinklers and no firewall? Great job thank you and FDNY are the great
Can’t believe this fire didn’t flash. Nasty black rolling smoke. Great job FDNY
Crazy fire for sure
Looks like the Command Chief got roused from bed! Great video, Skyler. You guys have been quiet lately, which is a good thing. Stay safe, Brother!
Thanks for watching
Disabled now, I love these longer videos! Brings me back to my days firefighting in the late 80s into the 90s. 😊
you sound like me, firefighter july 6th (my birthday,1962 lol)1980 to, guess what? july 6th 1994,i got hired with the state fire marshals office.was just starting train for that, had only a week of training in, when working for my families plumbing business,i took a fall, ive disabled since, now im dying.need a heart/lung transplant, but because an underlaying "condition" ,they wont do the transplants. the condition wont go away if you will. its an advanced form of CHF ,congestive heart failure, its terminal and untreatable, theyre just giving me meds to stay "comfortable".not helpin lol. the stats say only 30% of people live 5 years after diagnosis. im a year and a half from diagnosis, but from my records from before i moved, ive had ,a year for sure, but possibly two years.oh well, ive had a great life otherwise, firefighter, plumber(not so great lol) bouncer, and drove race cars. got paid to race as well.
Thanks
@@davekauffmanjr2069wow I would watch a movie about your life man. I hope you’re doing great and I know you’ll be around to tell us what ever happens next
@@tvb3265 well thanks, i have had some fun adventures in life. where i lived had a lot of movies shot in the area, ended up meeting several actors and actresses. became good friends with a few of them. cant tell those stories here though. lol. i will say i got a kiss,on the lips no less, from goldie hawn when they were filming the movie protocol. if you ever watch the movie ,look for the parade scene, youll see the fire engine i was assigned to as engineer for ten years, nice wildland engine.the movie phenomenon with john travolta and kyra sedgwick was filmed in town as well, and the bar scenes were filmed in the shanghai restaurant and bar.this is the bar that i was a bouncer in, unfortunately the bar had to close due to a family argument, so its now a brew pub , looks nothing like it did on the inside. one more, lol, the movie XXX with vin diesel ,a red corvette flies off a bridge, that is the foresthill bridge in the canyon below town. its 730 feet from the road deck to the river, highest in california and was 9th highest in the USA.
thank you for your work, Happy Holidays
Mayor Adams wants to cut FDNY Budget. What will we do without these Men? Mayor Adams needs to go
Mayor Adams needs to go for TONS of reasons
Not A Good Move On His Part
You can actually thank Bill DiBlasio for turning New York City into a sanctuary city.
Thanks for watching
Biden caused this unbelievable illegal immigrant disaster. And as soon as Adams started blaming Biden then suddenly the FBI shows up to investigate Adams. And some people actually believe Biden has not weaponized the FBI, DOJ, and DHS.
Thanks for another great video Skyler. That was alot of equipment involved. Stay safe. ☺
Yes it was thanks for watching
That aerial shot on the command laptop is fab. Gives you a good idea of the scope of the fire.
Always try thanks for watching
I can smell the smoke over my speakers!!!! Thanks for your video
Thanks
This is the longest video of yours that I’ve seen and it is excellent. Well done.
Thanks I normally don’t like filming videos this long
Excellent coverage. Great video. You and The Magisterium are the best reporters out in the field
We Appreciate that! Thanks
Wow you and JJ are amazing team to bring best coverage of these fires outstanding job keep up the good work thanks guys!!!
Much appreciated! Thanks
Thank you so much Skyler for being out in the cold so many many hours to capture such amazing coverage. AND HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY. Great present given to you even tho it was a few hours late !! I appreciate all you do to get the fires first hand and then share them with all of us.
Thanks so much! Don’t think I ever physically had a fire on my birthday it’s always the day after! The last one was in 2018 the queens smoke explosion which came in around the time this one did
@@SkylerFire so does that mean you have to wait another 5 years before another fire the day after BD ? 🎂🍧
Hahaha idk I don’t wish for fires they just happen
Crazy how that ally you were in at the beginning completely went up in flame later in the vid
Yup
What a fight to contain this fire! Great coverage Skyler!!!
Thx
great coverage and comms.....nice work Skyler 👍
Thanks
Happy Belated Birthday @Skyler Fire. Nice Videos from you and JJ. Thanks!
Thank you!
Happy Birthday mate... John mentioned it on his coverage, great video pal, thankyou. Stay safe
Thanks
Another great video and job well done by the FDNY the have the best white hats and firefighters around. Learned alot from those guys while training and watching with them . Urban warriors for sure.
Great coverage. Thanks Skyler!
Thanks for watching!
Dar' da rac.@dawnmichelleseidlgodsey120
We watched the demolition of a building in central Brussels which had been there for possibly four hundred years. It had no less than seven shells to it, one bit added on the next. One kinkster had fitted a bathroom up top, mirrors everywhere.
Thanks for watching
Another GREAT VIDEO! Thank you...
Thanks
Great job FDNY 👍
Great job stay safe thank you
Thanks
Great coverage from Skyler Fire again...
Thanks again!
With how many tax payers there are that burn down, it's amazing that there are any left. Always great video of the FDNY at work!
There is thousands!
Wow! Huge fire!🔥 I listened on Broadcastify!
Thanks for watching
@@SkylerFire You're welcome
Happy birthday! Ya got yer fiyah! 🎉
Haha thanks
My friend hell of a job covering this.
Thx
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SKYLER 🎉. John told us during his video of fire. 🥳
Thanks!
Outstanding video, thanks
Glad you enjoy them!
Great coverage my friend and Happy Birthday to you
Thanks bro
One thing I noticed with FDNY compare to many other agencies. They're not afraid to use their aerials. With that I mean they put theirs to use while I see so many other video's where they sit idle at the scene of a fire.
If it’s at the building it’s suppose to be on the building
Awesome video thanks brother
You bet
Always Great Content!!!!
Appreciate it!
Skyler, Lots of fire, must have been a lot material to burn in basement! Looks like it burned from sides 2 to 4, front to back! Hard Fight💪! Looks like the fire had a big start before the first call to FDNY! Those universal cocklofts are no good! Get some sleep, wait forbthe next One! Great work to You & M#1👍👍👍
Thanks! this fire was way ahead that’s for sure
Great coverage. Belated Happy Birthday wishes. Stay safe.
Thanks
Happy birthday and great job man
Thanks
This chief is sharp. Great job
For sure
Came up on my FDNY Facebook feed. She sure was cooking.
For sure! Thanks for watching
the way this fire ran there must have been a large attic cockloft area to hide and run . not to much fire at ground level . Bit of a shock for the working folks whom were unaware of this fire yet as it started through to night. Great coverage of the whole event .
Seemed like they had fire in the deli and Cockloft at same time. This fire was way ahead of them. Hearing multiple ceilings 4 or 5 too so they had to work hard to get all that opened up
I know those boots are going to be MAD stuffed tonight!!!!!
Ha
Super!
Thanks
Fantastic footage Skylar. Did they find out where it started, and how it started? Have a great day my friend, and stay safe ❤️🙂⚘️🚒.
Under investigation
Can you imagine the smell? Pizza, meat, seafood ❤
You don’t smell that lol
and cold cuts heated into hot cuts ,
skyler the comand chief doing a great job
Hahaha thanks
I don't like the way smoke is gaining pressure pushing through the side wall brick!!! Very smart to pull crews out and regroup on tactics!
For sure! The fire was way ahead must have been fire below and above
Guys be safe .god bless .patty
Thanks
FDNY Super Heros!!
For sure!
Wow, that was a worker.
Sure was
Happy Birthday
Thanks
Happy birthday
Thanks
….. special on smoked ham in the deli department this week
Thanks for watching
One thing I always think about when these taxpayers burn is that’s probably somebody’s only income maybe for the whole family too. So many insurance companies try to weasel out of paying too. The FDNY do an incredible job, getting water on the fire very quickly and getting the people to safety but it must be absolutely horrendous for some people if everything they have is in the business and they lose it all.
Sadly very old buildings and a lot of stuff and clutter inside
Not sure how i missed this video the day it was posted but i did.
Great coverage once again, your shots are amazing. Happy belated birthday
Question, why do they bring the towers down to ground level? Wouldn't they be more effective from above??
Hooe you have a peaceful and quiet holidays, Be Safe Out There
Edit: How Long Was Total Operation On This Scene??
Thanks much appreciated! They bring tower ladders to street level to get into the Cockloft which is the space between the ceiling and the roof. Around 4 hours was duration
Great video as usual, has the audio of this job been released yet?
Thanks and idk
Interesting technique to use the tower at street level instead of setting up a Blitz gun.
Can do more work with a tower ladder, more pressure they had to get thru the multiple ceilings. Was 4 or 5 to get to the Cockloft
Skyler…to bad you couldn’t convince when you discovered heavy involvement in the rear. Wonder why exposure 3-4 was not covered earlier (as you tried to point out). Last buckets placed on 4 side. Thank you for all, coverage and knowledge of operations.
For sure! Thanks for your comment
Fanfuckintasic coverage!!!!! Great job dude.
Thanks!
Happy belated birthday.
Thank you!!
Merry christmas. I like your vidoes.@@SkylerFire
Excellent Pic & Strong Work by the FDNY Members !
Did Nick Corrado get a promotion to Assistant Chief ?
Thx and no he is still at Div 3
@@SkylerFireK on the notes. Thank You
Controlled chaos.
Thanks for watching
Why didn’t the bucket start attacking from over the roof? Couldn’t hand lines attack thru the sidewalk? No experience here, just curious. Thanks.
Multiple ceilings over time. The pressure of the tower ladder helps get thru all of them to open it up to get to more fire
Your work is outstanding. Do you wear some sort of turnout clothing? Does the FDNY know you as a fire photographer?
No turnout clothing… FDNY knows who i am
Great coverage . What is taking him so long to pull everyone and hit it with the master streams from the platforms . He's gonna lose that building if he doesn't.
Has to make sure everyone is out
At 15:30, the command board...
...does each square represent one person or is that a master list of companies?
Each piece is one company. Divisions have area companies. Field com has every company 197 Engines 143 Ladders etc
Thank you!
Was it the pizza place that started the fire , there's so much smoke blowing out of that building which just spreaded down the whole block
No idea
My childhood neighboorhood
Thanks
Is there a drone being utilized by the Dept for this fire?
Yes
FDNY needs tow trucks to drag those vehicles out of the way. Or work with NYPD to accomplish the vehicle removal. We moved vehicles all the time.
Well sadly towing is not like it was a few years ago as a few tow pounds were removed so now they just ticket a lot of boots
Why is this so much fire in Bronx? Often is it barbershops, fast food places and always 1 story taxbuildings. Arsin?
Bronx always burned since the 1970s. Old buildings a lot of taxpayers, Poor neighborhoods using extension cords, e-bikes….
The 52's my home company
Awesome
What kind of helmets does the chief officers wear on the fire side
Should be morning pride
I remember the south Bronx fires of the 70s , it looked like Berlin in WW2 by the time it was done. Pay these guys mayor Adams, hire more professionals.
Thanks for watching
First a building collapse, now a major fire. I feel for you guys up there in NYC. As a midwesterner living in Florida, looking at these videos, and previously worked with a retired NYPD officer, in the past when crime was so rampant in the 70's, and early 80's, business owners put those bars up to protect their businesses from crime, now their buildings are being destroyed by fire, because they are an obstacle for firefighters. I'm wondering if there is any enforcement of the building codes? And now due to the "migrant crisis" up there now, things in my view just went from really bad to perilous. I just hope for the citizens sake, that your elected leaders (local, and state) realizes what their policies are doing.
Thanks for watching
They pulled two ladders and replaced them with two more. What is the difference between the towers? Looking for education, not criticising. This was really a sleeper. Went from seemingly small to a major conflagration in no time.
The fire was way ahead right away. There seemed to be 4 or 5 ceilings Fire was running space between the top ceiling and roof cause it’s all on a common roof. They also had heavy fire in the basement at the same time. Tower ladders have the buckets a lot easier to use master stream that way
Why so long to get the bucket going??
Not long at all
Hey! I have been a paid fireman for 11 years in a city. I am just wondering why in multiple videos you guys smash all the windows? I was always taught to strategically vent the windows near the fire with a hose line in place. All you’re doing is feeding the fire. No disrespect. Just curious what y’all teach?
I am not a firefighter but i do believe when you can't find fire you open up as much as possible to find the fire
@@SkylerFire copy. Thanks for your reply.
Suprised this call didnt turn into a 10-75 call
It was a 10-75 went to 5 alarms
Can it go higher than 5?
Bro really
Not anymore 5 is the highest
Don't F.D.N.Y. ariels have pipes? Dey do like dam towers
They use tower ladders for defensive operations.
It must be a boring job being a firefighter in NY, standing around all day with 1 or 2 hundred (useless) colleagues watching a fire
These are real firefighters
Why do you need a relief Cruise you are people standing around doing nothing Toshiba Rick you don't need any more firefighters there
That’s your opinion
Great work Happy Birthday Skyler !!
Thx
Once again sky......... tremendo. 🫡. And the FDNY. Props to the Bx division..
Thanks for watching
