Bad battery fried my xplay, I ordered a junked play with the intention of swapping the main circuitry. This video helped a ton, took me no time and it's functioning perfectly in its new housing.
If you take your time and are gentle with the take apart you should have no issues with the reassembly. Use heat to loosen the adhesive from the housing and touch screen digitizer. Good luck!
You were asking about the front frame not the touch screen digitizer. If you are replacing the touch screen digitizer then you will need adhesive. Take a look at 4:18 in this video.
Hi It is an excellent straightforward video. Thanks. I replaced the digitizer screen. Very easy to do but when I power on the phone the screen is unresponsive. I went back through the the process twice more to make sure everything was attached/inserted correctly but the screen is still unresponsive. Please help!
Finally, I'm watching this on ny working experia play for those who are giving up to open, it well I say go for it. even for digitizer because my problem was the digitizer but following this tutorial helped me alot god bless the internet now I have one final thing..Can I use a glue gun to attach the digitizer with the plastic?
Hi, I used your guide, together with a written guide to (a) fully dismantle my Xperia Play (b) install a new digitizer (c) install a new front, rear and gamepad housing. One thing people doing a housing swap should note - the gamepad housings on eBay (where I bought mine) do not come with the digitizer for the thumbsticks and so they will not work - all of the buttons will though. The same applies for antenna and loudspeaker in the rear housing which are too hard to swap over.
sorry I made a mistake: I meant the front cover not the digitizer sorry! but anyway you answered my question. is the adhesive available somewhere? thank you so much
This is an issue with the Slide flex ribbon cable. Since it works when you slide but when it is closed. This is clear indication that the slide cable needs to be replaced.
The best to do this is to reverse your steps and rewind the video. We are always adding more videos to our site so please check back with us to see if we have this video available soon.
Sorry to hear this. Be sure all of the internal connections are securely in place. Often times during the repair components can become dislodged or loosened.
you can heat up more the digitizer just make sure you concentrate to the glass panel part only to avoid melting up the housing, and the best way you could do it is to pushing up the digitizer while heating it up, it will quickly release and you can use again the adhesive,

Now I bought just the housing for the phone everything else is like new on the phone,I want to keep the screen but not the housing any tips with removing the screen without damaging the touch screen and that screen panel
We don't recommend a glue gun. This glue can damage the digitizer. We recommend adhesive strips as these are safe. You can find them here - RepairsUniverse (dot) com in the tools section.
Ive just replace the digitizer and now the lcd screen doesn't show....all things followed to the letter and connectors put back as should be..Replace old one back just in case the lcd was incompatible...but no change.Do you think the lcd Ribbon has been damaged? Or could the actual Lcd just failed?
Yes, You would use adhesive -www.repairsuniverse.com/3m-double-sided-adhesive-tape-2mm.html . Once you have the adhesive around the edges you will be able to secure the digitizer to the front housing.
Hi, I broke the sim card slot a few weeks ago, putting in it a microsim adapter without the microsim -.- i think i broke some pins. I just ordered three sim card slot for trying to replace the broken part... But I have a question: are the sim-pins on the motherboard or they are part of the sim card slot? Because if they are on the motherboard i am fucked... Hope you will respond soon. Thanks.
Thanks a lot man! I've had a problem with power button clicking itself all the time so I didn't have to even unscrew the mainboard although it was a lot safer to look at somebody else doing this so I'll be sure that I won't mess something up :D
You have the touch screen digitizer flex cable and the LCD flex cable. It sounds like there is an issue with your LCD. You can find the LCD on our website. RepairsUniverse (dot) com
With water damage it is always hard to say for sure. However by what you describe it sounds like it is just the touch screen digitizer which is damaged. If this is correct you just need the touch screen digitizer replacement. We have these replacement parts here - RepairsUniverse (dot) com
If the touch screen digitizer is becoming defective you may need to replace the touchscreen. We have these available on our site at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
Since the screen is fuzzy, it's tough to say if there is a specific flex cable causing this. Perhaps open your device and make sure the internal connections (including flex cables) are securely in their appropriate place. If that doesn't work you may want to just replace the LCD screen, which are available at a very affordable price at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
hallo, my xperia miro fall and the screen is broken now... but the touch work fine! should i buy Touch Screen Digitizer or something else? please answer me. thanks
I have a fuzzy screen and I believe I need to replace the flex cable... What part exactly do I need to get? I need a new one to fix the screen so I can actually use my phone.. But I don't know what exactly to get.
Hi, i have a question. You just opened the phone. But My SD-Card is stuck in my phone it is half broken. so i cant remove it. Can i open the phone and can i get it out? , Sorry for my bad english
Ive had so much bad luck with the Xperia Play, but it's still my favourite phone, because of the game pad. I find it impossible to play with on screen buttons. Anyway the first one I got I made an adaptor for my mini sim and it messed up the memory slot, by getting stuck. And that before I had even used it. The next one I bought, the on off button died so I paid £25 to get it fixed and then I wasn't going to be silly and make my own adaptor so I got one from a shop, and guess what happened ? It messed up the memory slot AND the sim card isn't recognised. I just bought a massive set of precission screw drivers and they don't work so I went looking for a T5 screw driver online and found out that only shop in my town has discontinued them. I guess it'll be another 25-30 quid. I wonder what will go wrong this time.
Dear Repairsuniverse my play is not recognizing sd card plus its restarting again n again . Any thoughts why its happening and any solution u can suggest.
this might be to much of a random qestion but i had my xperia in my backpack becuse i only use it for gaming and i was in a rush and forgot i had food in my backpack too well long story short i had oil and food on my touch screen my phone turns on and i can move with my keys but do u think i can open to clean the device or u think i should just buy a new screen
isaaclikesturtles Was it literally drenched in oil? I would use alcohol to clean it the best you can. Most likely some of that oil got under the digitizer and is causing the malfunction.
This can be an issue with LCD or the Main Slide Flex ribbon cable. We have the LCD you will need for this device on our website at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
my phone was charging last night and it was working perfectly fine until the morning when i took it off the charger. now it wont turn on but if i hold the power button it will vibrate as if it was trying to turn off but the screen does not turn on and it does not make any sound. any clue as to why it wont turn on or how i can fix it?
We are not offering repair services at the current time. You can attempt to troubleshoot the device for a better solution. Sorry for the inconvenience.
It is possible that there could be damage to the LCD ribbons/connections. We suggest trying a new LCD for the best results. We have it available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

Hey my Xperia Play was in the car for about ten minuites when I went into a gas station. It was on when I left but when I came back out it wouldn't turn back on. I left it alone thinking it was just over heated. it sat for about 1 day in a cool room. When I was trying to get it to turn back on it actually came on but it had 1% battery and then it shut off cuz it ran out of battery life. since then I can not turn it back on but the light on the power bar comes on when I charge it. please help
You do not need to spend a load of money to replace the device when you can repair it for less than half the cost! We have these parts available as well as repair videos. Please talk with our live chat reps on our website to better assist you at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

Just got a pressure crack. Verizon and Sony were going to charge me a lot of money to fix it so I'm glad I found this video. Thank you so much.
If you take your time and are gentle with the take apart you should have no issues with the reassembly. Use heat to loosen the adhesive from the housing and touch screen digitizer. Good luck!

Great video. I accidentally cracked the LCD on mine, and this was perfect to follow to disassemble the Play to replace the screen.
sorry I made a mistake: I meant the front cover not the digitizer sorry! but anyway you answered my question. is the adhesive available somewhere? thank you so much
i had the same problem and now it is just gone off altogether, i was just wondering did you fix yours and what did you do to fix it. thanks :D
This is an issue with the Slide flex ribbon cable. Since it works when you slide but when it is closed. This is clear indication that the slide cable needs to be replaced.

Glad we could help.
Using this video will show you how to take the device apart. No adhesive is needed.
Sorry to hear this. Be sure all of the internal connections are securely in place. Often times during the repair components can become dislodged or loosened.
If its something to do with the touch screen what do connection do you think it is the digitizer?
all I want to do is to change the front cover, it is necessary to follow all these steps? subscribed btw :)

It is a white square located on the top right 2:07 or by the battery.

Great to hear the video helped!

It could be. I would contact where you bought it from.
Where can I buy a touchscreen digitiser? How much are they ? Can you make a tutorial on how to put this back together?
If you are referring to the screen protector film then yes.
is the Touch Screen Digitizer the same on a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800x from a R800a or a R800
Can you add a list of what tools I need into the video description please?
You will need a T5 , T6 and adhesive for the replacement of the touch screen digitizer and LCD.
You are very welcome!
how do you stick the screen digitizer itself??Do you use a glue or a sticky tape?? please respond very soon thanks
This was perfect, you helped me out more then you know. Thank you for this

Can you make a video on how to put the xperia back into tack with the new parts plz
do you have any info on how to replace the sim reader ?
Buttons or the touchscreen?
The pins are probably just bent. When replacing the sim tray you will likely be able to find if the issue is fixable. Best of luck!
You can use this as a reference, yes.
Now I bought just the housing for the phone everything else is like new on the phone,I want to keep the screen but not the housing any tips with removing the screen without damaging the touch screen and that screen panel

Yes, You would use adhesive -www.repairsuniverse.com/3m-double-sided-adhesive-tape-2mm.html . Once you have the adhesive around the edges you will be able to secure the digitizer to the front housing.
