I think they did a good effort with Sydney, Athens and Beijing as well, always looked forward to the Olympic releases but it peaked with London 2012 And the Vancouver 2010 game was pretty fun too
I find it intriguing how developers come to the conclusion that making a game silly and cartoonish will always be a good business choice, no matter the genre of the game or the target demographic. People still play London 2012 for a reason. Atleast it respected the player.

London 2012 was fantastic. It had a lot of events and many of them were really fun to play. Brilliant couch play party game with friends.

Commodore 64 had a Summer Games that predates the arcade track and field.
the Epix Games series of games were awesome. Summer, World, and California games are all staples.
