AMEN sister! So happy I'm not the only one who believes this way. I'm 65 and making plans for my future, to travel again, there's no time for limiting beliefs.
I’m 66, ride motorcycles, dive caves and teach technical diving, train horses, practice martial arts, sail boats, compose music and play everything on guitar from jazz to Flamenco, write poetry and scripts… and that’s just a start… will be retiring to Europe after living in Japan for 16 years.
@@OrangeUp I do meditate an hour every day, practice and teach Qi Gong/Tai Chi, and I can be enjoyably lazy. I just taught myself how to be efficient :)
You were spot on when you said that some people are old in their 30's, while others are planning next year vacation in their 90's. Body and mind can age but soul is forever young, so stay young and healthy and keep going strong my lady.
I' m an 56 year old woman living in Greece. I think you are great! Not brave just great. You dare to accomplish your dreams even if you feel anxiety and lonely sometimes. I' m happy I found you in TH-cam
I started again from nearly zero at the age of 55. You're right we're never too old to start again and we need to create more opportunities for ourselves as women. Starting my channel has definitely renewed my enthusiasm for life! 🙌
I rarely comment, but I do want to thank you for this channel and for your candor. I'm a 54-year-old single American woman, and I'm preparing to start the Italian citizenship process with the goal of moving there in the next few years. So many videos about Italy (and moving abroad in general) are hosted by younger people, couples, families... I love the content but can't relate! I love your videos and your advice, so thank you!
There are so many like-minded people out there who are reinventing their lives. Check out "Nearby Veggies". An adorable couple who are starting out a new life in Portugal. ❤
I am 60+ and I am grateful to be part of a unique generation of trailblazers who raised themselves. I do not envy younger people now and wouldn’t trade my life and perspective and go back. I hope the youth of today are building something unique within themselves that makes them as resilient and strong as we are. And I love adding channels run by people of my generation. Why are they hanging around long enough to write any comment where they don’t belong? Go, be where you belong and leave independent, ageless spirits to our own devices. ❤
Hi Daphne, I’m a Brazilian living in Sydney Australia. We have the same age and similar situation as I am living alone after the loss of my beloved husband 6 years ago and my very independent 22 years old daughter decided to moved out. I feel very lonely sometimes and women like you reminds me that I can do a lot of things by myself and be happy doing it. I traveled alone to Vietnam last year and loved it, now I’m planning a gap year to travel more including 5/6 months in Europe. I love your honesty, you are a inspiring beautiful woman.
I was told many years ago as I was studying to become a nurse ‘but you’ll be 40 when you qualify’ to which I responded well I’ll be 40 whether or not I qualify! Here I am at 61….still nursing 😂
You are right on!!! I am 60+, surf photographer, music producer and in better shape than the majority of people 1/2 my age. People make snide comments to make themselves feel better, it's an unfortunate part of human nature. Your channel is inspirational. For every one of those ninnies you have multitudes of people who enjoy your positive vibes!
First, this person that wrote that you are "to" old is TOO old not know how to spell the word "too" correctly. Second, I recently discovered your TH-cam channel, and I love it!! I, TOO, am in my late 50's, and I have often left the USA to live abroad, teaching and making friends around the world. When I first started living that life, you can imagine peoples' responses. Shameful opinions were thrown at me left and right, such as "How can you leave your children?" even though my two oldest were in their early 20s. Later, as people got use to the idea, I was applauded for living my life as I deemed fit for myself. My hat off to you for doing as you seem fit and opening yourself to comments, both good and bad, for admitting that you have days of difficulty -- as everyone does -- yet you drive on with a thirst for living your life as fully as possible. I look forward to your more of your videos! Brava!
People love to pass judgement but underneath is really something else. “How can you leave your children?!” What they’re really saying is: “I use my children to give my life meaning, give myself an identity and feel better about myself in general, and I could never let go of that”.
I hear ya, we’ve been living the expat lifestyle for 11 years. When we left Asia for the Middle East, many thought we were crazy, life was comfortable, they didn’t comprehend why move to somewhere not as desirable. No regrets, it’s been an amazing journey, not without challenges tho. Our adult daughters are now residing in Australia, continents apart, we miss them dearly. However empty nest is a joyful time to embrace new experiences, loving every minute of it🌹
Thanks Daphna, a really good discussion to start. I've had the same experience with ageism. I'm 60 and had a lifetime of fitness, good diet, surf and skate, travel and living a creative life. I've had a good professional career and continue to provide for my grown up kids when necassary. I'm lucky that the surf and skate communities are groups of 'outsiders' like me. It's generally, an incredibly welcoming and joyous group of people. It helps to build your community with people who question the mainstream and constantly strive to try new things. So if you are out there and 'older' don't let people get in your head. My mantra is: 'it's not about trying to be young, it's about staying open and curious.' I'm accepting of my age but trying to live my best life! So get after it people!
You are exactly what is needed on you tube. There are many mature adults that are really interested in your content. Be you because you are beautiful!!
You are such a beautiful person, what an inspiration ❤🙏 I am 58 , indipendend musician and life alone. It’s exactly like you say … ups and downs … but the best life I ever had !!! The only thing I had to learn is to constantly organize dates with friends… this is very important to not feel alone and enjoy your single life. Keep it up and lots of success with your chanel … we need you 🙋♀️☀️🌺🌺🌺🌺
Had a laugh over your ageism reflection, Daphna. If young people only knew how much of a struggle they had yet to go through to overcome their own feelings of inadequacy, which, when they finally do, shall only lead them to discover that where they are now puts them in the permanently over the hill category for the next 25 years to come. Some of the lucky ones such as yourself have an ageless indefinable beauty. What separates you, besides how you've managed to retain your ability to illicit an occasional mischievous, unrehearsed smile, is an essence of calmness laid down on a solid foundation of wisdom and acceptance. You first must be smart enough to recognize what a gift it is to have an unbridled moment or two and unconsciously make use of it in order to fully appreciate the powers your indifference as well as persuasion can have on others, the parts of the whole that is you.
Fantastic channel!!!.I am 55 and startet last year a new career as a tarot reader, live by myself in Berlin, grown up kids too, making plans to move to Venice/ Italy in some time, because I love this city so much! I can totally relay to every word you are saying and want to tell you, that your channel is amazing and so helpful, especially in the more lonely hours of the day!! I thank you so much for starting, keep going, you are amazing, girl❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Please don't pay attention to the people who have private frustrations and they try to project to others online. I love your content. And that short video you made is so inspiring, it gave me ideas on what to eat :)) thank you
I’m 52 Asian American empty nester going thru divorce and thinking of my next stage of life and starting over somewhere new. Went to Portugal last year and love pastel de nata and Algarve! Women like you and Dominique Sachse on YT inspire me ❤
Never posted a comment on any social media, not in my mother tongue Japanese, nor in French which I speak fluently, nor in English which I've been learning. I just came across your videlos. Everything you say resonates so deeply with me that I wanted to let a message. I'm 55 yo, living in Tokyo, having two mid-teenage children. Honestly, if it weren't for them, I wouldn't be here now, I'd have left already. I've always liked to travel the world and meet different people, but having children put those ideas on hold. Recently, I've started thinking seriously about realizing this dream once my kids graduate from university, in about eight years. So I will be 60s! I know it won't be easy... Thank you Daphna, I'm looking forward to your other videos.
totally ❤️🌱💫 growing older and deeply enjoying doing what we love to do is so awesome 😍 let’s keep changing that age discrimination ✨🌿🌼 and be happy however old we are 🧡
Thank you Daphne..I’m always happy to watch you on your channel. You speak your truth and that’s so important we all need to speak up about our true wishes and dreams. And make them happen no matter what age. I’ll be 79 in August and still plan to travel. Cranking up my manifesting skills again to get me to Europe/France/Italy..
What a wonderful video to stumble across! I will be 60 this year and I absolutely embrace your same way of looking at aging! I plan for this last chapter of my life to be amazing!! So glad I found your channel!
Hello Daphné, I've just found you, and everything you say resonates with me. I'm 63 and I moved to France when I was 58 and shared a house with my Sister. I then moved to Greece when I was 61, alone. I have recently moved back to London, and feel like I have taken a step back! I feel S if I have let myself down by buying into this Mindset that you need to think about the fact that I'm getting old, BUT I don't feel, act or behave like the Atypical 60+ Year Old. Finding you has made me realise that as daunting as it may be at times, doing what I was doing, was actually LIVING, and now I feel like I'm just existing! I feel lost, and I am so glad I came across you, as I suddenly remember that I am Fearless and always somehow land on my feet .. ....
Got what you’re saying. I moved back to be closer to my adult kids yet in a lot of ways I’ve felt lost but changing your mindset and moving forward in all levels you can reach again that happier space/home.. Best wishes! 🙏
I came across your channel because I was looking for people 40+ who were on their own and starting over. There are hundreds of videos out there of people quitting their jobs, feeling lost in life and starting over.. but none of them resonated with me because they are in their early 20s and have partners to help them financially and emotionally. Your content is encouraging and honest and I’m glad I found your channel. ❤
That comment shows their personal uphappiness that they beilieve THEY are “too old” to do what you’re obviously ALREADY doing! You’re inspiring me! Keep your videos coming! Sending you good vibes only! ✨ 💖
Brava to you, Daphna ❤ You are an utter inspiration to me. I love your content. I love your authenticity and integrity. Ageism is real amongst societies especially just like you said to hold us back. We are unlimited if we choose to be. You are a true muse. Keep going Queen 👑
This video is timely for me. I’m 55 and my birthday is in four days, and have been struggling with making some major life choices. You and the messages you share are so inspirational and very much needed. I think your messages offer the encouragement and support for women and men alike. Thank you for putting a voice to what many of us at this stage of our lives are thinking, and might now have the courage to consider or act on.
Wise words: "Aging is inevitable, getting old is a choice". You are living a life that many aspire to, or at the very least dream about. It matches some of my own ideas. Having been in Portugal a year ago, it is a place to re-visit. I also think that mentioning challenges with children can be very real. Keep living your own best life. Cheers!
Thank you lovely. Heart-sisters. Yes, there is a time for freedom and it is now, with all this wisdom under our belt, it is time to live into your blessings... The sense of your own life!! Continue to be blessed. You are a wonderful encouragement. Sweetness. All the best to you. (I love those pastries too!!)
Beautiful video! Thanks for being relatable. I’ll be 56 in September and I just relocated to a different part of the US the second time since empty nesting. Another chapter, a fresh start and reinventing my life again after downsizing and moving twice in the past decade but I haven’t moved abroad again. I’ve lived abroad in Japan. My boyfriend is much younger and at a different stage in life but he’s chosen to pair bond with me and we’re making this work. We went through the adjustment stage of living together and now it’s good for both of us and we hang with his parents regularly which gives me peers I get along well with. Not so lonely for me. I’m happy I can visit my adult children and grandchildren easier now due to being more centrally located by major airports. My last location only had a regional airport and I felt a bit corned in life with them so far away and it being costly to travel.
Daphna, thank a lot for your videos, for your honest, direct experience. Thanks for sharing your days, experiences and learnings with those of us who have the pleasure of following you.
I am so enjoying your videos Daphna! I was watching videos about Portugal and came across your videos. Listening to you reminded me of what I experienced in the past. In my late 40's I lived in Paris for a few years studying French, then started busking on the streets in Geneva, Switzerland and was "discovered". I sing American folk, traditional country and gospel. In my early '50's I was asked to sing in American Country Music Festivals there, and also sang in other venues in France and Italy. I'm now back in Canada unable to travel at the moment because of caregiving for a family member. I feel confined at not being able to travel anywhere hardly at all which is good in one sense as I am writing a book. I'm now a very young '76 and have no intention of settling down into an "old" existence. Discovering your videos has revived me in my plans for the future, traveling again, maybe visiting Portugal, and working with street kids in Brazil. I am a born-again Christian and Jesus has helped me in my most difficult times while living abroad, and here in my own country. He has encouraged me as I've watched your videos to continue with my plans for the future, learning languages and living a life of adventure with Him as my guide. Thank you for launching out on TH-cam. Who knows what's next for you. Maybe you'll write a book with helpful advice to mature women, and men, encouraging them to be adventurous and live out their dreams. Many of our critics are just jealous....
I return to Portugal every year now and each time I eat hundreds of Pasteis de Nata (there's nothing like it in my opinion). I am 62 years old and live by my motto "Be yourself, everyone else is taken". You are a true inspiration, so much of what you speak of rezonates with me. Perhaps one day we will meet in Algarve and exchange life stories. Thank you for your young wisdom!! Obrigada!!❤
I really appreciate how you took a mean comment and turned it into a title - that is getting so many views and comments! we're the same age. :) I've also been trying to get braver to do more with my youtube channel, and also an expat traveling solo. Thinking about the next place...
I’m just 64 and planning to move to France from the USA - I am a writer and can work from anywhere. I will never feel old as long as I’m engaged and excited, learning about stuff and staying healthy. You’re a kindred spirit. I look younger than my years (like you!!) too. I would like to start a TH-cam channel too one day! Go girl!! 👧
I totally understand , thank you , you are helping me with my loneliness! I had my daughter at the age of 42, started a business at 52, and now at 67 have left Canada , have just started all over and moved to Portugal. I’ve had to listen to a lot of nay sayers .
53 years old here with grown up children. I agree with you in all that you said. It seems to be a lot of us 50+ women today feeling the same about the future and aging. Thank you for your content.
Hey Chickie! No Need To Worry When The Electricity Goes Out!…I live by candlelight myself.))) Everyone comments how spa like my place is n how they Love it because it also feels like the holidays.))) Just order yourself some battery operated candles made of Real Wax but With The Fake Flicker. They Are The Most Real Looking Ones! I get mine at Pottery Barn(in the cream color n all different sizes to add variety.) I recommend ya invest in several clickers for them. That way you can have one by the door to turn them on when you get home n one on your bedside table to shut them off if you want before you go to sleep etc. I keep one next to any seats so if one is too bright or I want to change the ambiance, I don’t have to get up, I can just use the handy clicker there to shut that one off.))) They are fabulous to have in the kitchen n bathroom Especially as a nightlight(and better looking than one too,)))so you can see when you have to go to them in the night. Whenever we loose power, I barely notice because I still have fabulous lighting.))) I mainly just worry about not being able to charge my phone.lolol Another fabulous thing about them is You Never Have To Worry About Falling Asleep With Them On, unlike real candles n them being such a fire hazard. Congrats On All Of Your Success!))) I just found your channel this morning n I’m So Happy For You N Impressed By You that I’ve already Subscribed Of Course, but have watched several of your videos already!))) Thank You For Sharing Your Fabulous Life With Us N Taking The Time To Make Them!))) I Love That You’ve Been Able To Make A Business With Them That Then Allows You To Continue To Live Your Best Life!)))…You Go Girl!))) Girl Power!)))lololol Please Disregard The Curmudgeons! They Do Not Deserve Your Energy. ❤️Jacqueline(from the states)
Dear Ms Daphne, I appreciate that you speak slowly and clearly. You are 58, getting younger by the day and not going downhill. Many uphills of the beautiful kind are waiting for you to conquer, and once you have reached the peak, the meaning of your life, and who you really are will be clear. Panic attacks and anxiety will dissipate -- perhaps the result of your past life of devotion and sacrifice. You will realize that you are a courageous woman possessing the strength of an Amazon. The fact that you moved to a foreign land, alone, to begin life anew, proves all that is the real you. You are in the prime of your life! May I know your nationality, your country of birth that your lovely accent belongs to? However, no matter the race and nationality of a person; we are all part of the human mosaic made up of different colors and shapes. Be well and be safe, good luck and good health, Val Sofia from Los Angeles, California
Alleluia, totally agree with you and more women need to say these things to each other and publicly! I find you very inspirational, thank you for posting these videos. ❤
Really enjoyed this video. Im 66 still work full time in child care. Looking forward to going part time in four weeks. I'm still young at heart and believe that we all need a purpose. I love watching you tube videos and getting ideas on travel, decorating, minimilism, skin care, although a lot that I watch are from young girls in their 20's, so I am really enjoying your content and your responses. Thanks for sharing.
I am 44 years old and just love your videos! So inspiring! I live in Mozambique - Africa and I am very grateful for the life I have built here. Neverthless, I always wanted to live abroad, since I was a kid, even if it is just for a certain period of time. Watching your videos make me feel like everything possible. Keep it up! Thank you❤
Daphna, I am so grateful for your videos. You have an elegant spirit that is honest and inspiring. I am 52, retired, done with training children and figuring out what to do with second half of my life. You example has shown me a direction. The issue with age and ageing is that those of golden age are meant to believe by the society that there is nothing new they could learn. My beautiful wife is learning French and I am preparing to take a diploma couse in Dental Assisting. We hope to move abroad permanently. Once again, thanks for bravery and sharing of experiences. They get to us and you are right to say:"Ageing is inevitable but growing old is a choice". Great quote and video❤
Thank you for your wisdom and being an example of being human and being committed to a full life of growth and adventure. Just turned 50 and am in a season of incredible expansion. Turns out there is so much extra capacity to develop when you stop listening to people who want you to play small due to their own discomfort. Blessings for what you’re doing.
I started watching your channel because you are an inspiration for women our age! I don’t watch the twenty somethings as they are far more interested in themselves than producing good content apart from one or two. These days I get so surprised at some of the hurtful comments the key board warriors make. I’m looking forward to travelling in the next year or so and enjoy following your journey.
You are so right. Some people/children are old very young. I was one of those. I was the ‘adult’ in my childhood. Now I get to create my own childhood at 58! My kids are on their own adventures, so I sold the house, gave away everything, bought a van and am travelling the USA while I still work (love my work!) Fly ! Be free from social norms! 🎉
Wow! Really liked this video Daphna! You DO have so much common sense wisdom, and your admission that life isn’t perfect for you, and that you have your struggles only makes you even wiser in my view because when we hold ourself to some kind of unrealistic image of “a perfect life”, we’re setting ourselves up for disappointment. Really happy for you that you’re going for it and living your dreams! It’s inspiring :)
Thanks for your great videos. You have a lot of vitality, appear much younger than your biological years, and are very inspiring for us folk who want to start over, including moving countries, at more advanced ages.
Hi again Daphna! I try and comment on your new videos as much as possible. I hope that helps with the TH-cam algorithm. More people in their fifty's should get exposure to your videos. You are so right about agism, especially in youth obsessed western cultures. Each phase of one's life has benefits and drawbacks. We must learn to embrace the present and take full advantage. I love being in my 50's. There is so much I still want to do, and yes, even riding a motorcycle across Europe! Take care Daphna. Looking forward to your next video!
Daphna, you represent the light of the human species in a world engulfed by darkness. A true spirit for mankind. You are a very important person for mankind. Thank you 🙏
I love everything you say you are spot-on. It's like you're in my head. Especially as a single mother in my 60s redefining my identity and who I am in this world. Living and planning the next chapters. You are an inspiration and provide so much support. Also planning my finances taking control and no longer sticking my head in the sand. Thanks for your content and examples you're so real.
Love your channel and thank you for. the balanced view in this video. Life has its ups and downs, but one's attitude can help us as much on the ups as the downs. Still, life has its struggles for each of us. I love your quote " aging is inevitable but getting old is a choice." That's now one of my two favorite quote on aging. The other is from an American football coach who said "age is only an approximation of how old one is." Thank you and PS, my first addiction was also pastel de nata and I also love pão de queijo; those little cheesy bread balls are so deceptively dangerous.
I too moved to Portugal in my mid 50's and have completely started over. I really relate to everything you just said, both the good and the hard. For me it's all about mindset. I want to create a non-limiting, positive and adventurous mindset for myself. I believe you are not just what you eat , but you become what you think. I want to think about exciting possibilities and enjoy life!
Im 66 and living on my own... Have my own lovely apartment... My hot water system broke down 4 days ago... Still doesn't work properly and the plumber is coming back on Tuesday!. I feel vulnerable because quite often they try to overcharge me because I'm on my own. I just retired last month and feel anxious about money matters.. I have worked all my life and don't feel guilty having a nice home.. I have also travelled the world which I love. During Covid I grew out my hair dye and my hair is now very long... I don't want my hair super short... Old ladies style.. Lol! I now have people coming up to me in the street saying how much they love my hair... Including young men! I'm happier now than when I was married and in my 30s... I'm free to do what I want... My Mother is 89 in November and has such a great social life and travels! So glad I found your videos Daphne... Keep up the good work! 😊
One way to not feel vulnerable about being ripped off is, do a bit of homework. The internet is a great educator. Once I have an idea of what needs to be done, I look up how to fix it. By understanding what needs doing, I find I can either fix it myself or know what I need and can explain to the repair person the job. Once the repair person knows you know and understand the task required they tend to stay on the fair and honest path. Negotiate time and cost of the job first. The best gift I'm giving myself is learning how to use tools correctly. Very liberating. 😊
You are right there is not enough content for older people who are fit, active independent and self sufficient. When older people are quietly confident about going after their goals it is easier to focus on your goals and ignore the younger voices who try to block your ambitions. They do not want to challenge oder people I think they just have preconceived notions based on the older people they are used to seeing. Dependent on medications, depressed, anxious, focused on illness and who have forgotten what it feels like to be young and healthy. You don’t need to lose that with age but you do need to be focused and committed to exercising and eating right to be strong and healthy.
I’m so happy I found your channel - I love your content and it inspires me to keep working on doing my own channel as a 53 yr old woman. You are so graceful. Keep up the great work ❤
Thank you for being so open about your life and your feelings. There is life after children and 50. It's not always easy, but we can still have an exiting life.🥰
Truly inspiring, creating content on TH-cam at mid life is a real struggle. Personally Not being tech savvy, it’s still a challenge learning the ropes, but enjoyable. Seeing your success is really encouraging. Btw them Portuguese egg tarts are divine, it’s sold in Singapore, pretty similar to the Chinese egg tarts👍🏻🤩
I love your response . I am 55 years old and I hate when people said things like that. I also look younger than 55 and I also feel younger than 55 just like you. I want to travel abroad and experiment diferentes cultures, meet new people, and have adventure in my life live at this wonderful age. I have been thinking about to retired abroad it would be a dream but at the same time It it is scary feeling and a huge decision. Please keep doing what you are doing and I love your videos. Do not let this people behind the keyboard to put you down… keep living life.
I love ageing! Like you, and probably most who follow you here, understand that getting old, is a choice. At 51, I feel younger than when I was 30. I just don’t take myself so seriously now! Thanks for sharing your experience, I just discovered you today and have subscribed. I’m planning to start slow travelling on my own with monthly rentals in Portugal, Italy and Turkey.
Thanks Daphna i find you inspirational and as im thinking of making the move to Portugal at 64 to start over , makes me feel it is not such a bad idea. dont get me started on peoples limiting beliefs and restrictive ideas . lol.
I think people say all sorts of things negative things because of envy. I guess you are supposed to pick a more miserable fate in order to make them happy ! :). Some family members can be especially negative. What is it to them? Find your own purpose and move beyond them - it's the only way. Here's a movie quote for the day: “Don't ever let someone tell you, you can't do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you got to protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they want to tell you you can’t do it. You want something, go get it. Period.” - Chris Gardner, The Pursuit Of Happyness
I'm so happy to find you :) I love your videos and for anyone to say that does mean it's a reflection on themselves sadly. I'm fully nomadic and just bought my ticket to the Algarve today and I will stay for one month. Thanks for all of your content. It's keeping me focussed to carry on living my new life. I'm 52 and loving it :)
You are looking and doing amazing work! Keep living your best life and loving the adventure -thank you so much for having the guts to make this content ! YES we need more like this 🤗
Love your commentary & your honesty.. I’ve just turned 60 but feel 49😂.. and feel life is just beginning with the kids flown the nest .. exciting times ahead 😊
AMEN sister! So happy I'm not the only one who believes this way. I'm 65 and making plans for my future, to travel again, there's no time for limiting beliefs.
There’s no time for limiting beliefs 👏 loved it!
Wow inspiring 🌟
You should relax sometimes.
@@OrangeUp I do meditate an hour every day, practice and teach Qi Gong/Tai Chi, and I can be enjoyably lazy. I just taught myself how to be efficient :)
@@rabukan5842 Good job!

I' m happy I found you in TH-cam
omg thanks for writing that ❤️ ❤️
Beautifully stated,we are as old as we feel.I am 69,living in Greece🎉🎉
Hi how’s it living in Greece ?! Did you move there
You are a 56 year YOUNG woman !
Thank yot😊
I live by a motto….‘it’s none of my business what other people think’…treated me well for fifty eight years 😊
Yes and that's what my 103 year young grandaunt tells me ❤❤❤ go girl.
I started again from nearly zero at the age of 55. You're right we're never too old to start again and we need to create more opportunities for ourselves as women. Starting my channel has definitely renewed my enthusiasm for life! 🙌
Congratulations ❤
I rarely comment, but I do want to thank you for this channel and for your candor. I'm a 54-year-old single American woman, and I'm preparing to start the Italian citizenship process with the goal of moving there in the next few years. So many videos about Italy (and moving abroad in general) are hosted by younger people, couples, families... I love the content but can't relate! I love your videos and your advice, so thank you!
I too am seeking to live in Italy - I am 56. I am CDN.
❤️ ❤️ ❤️ THANK YOU for being here
There are so many like-minded people out there who are reinventing their lives.
Absolutely😊
Hi Daphne,
I’m a Brazilian living in Sydney Australia.
Hugs❤️❤️❤️
Just turned 60 last week and I’ve been feeling anxious about the future. Your message is certainly inspiring. Thanks
thanks for these nice words❤️
I was told many years ago as I was studying to become a nurse ‘but you’ll be 40 when you qualify’ to which I responded well I’ll be 40 whether or not I qualify! Here I am at 61….still nursing 😂
spot on😊
Hi Daphna,
" Aging is inevitable but getting old is a choice"
Interesting!...
Your contents are very encouraging. I'm still in my early 40s' but already gaining an idea how to live my upcoming life! Thank you.
thanks so much for writing this and for being here ❤️ ❤️
First, this person that wrote that you are "to" old is TOO old not know how to spell the word "too" correctly. Brava!
❤️ ❤️ ❤️ THANK YOU for being here, and I love your vibe
"You're too old to be doing this" was the exact same thing they told me :)
❤️❤️❤️
i am 58 as well and you look beautiful , great smile and positive energy :) we are not too old for anything :)
thanks so much for writing this and for being here ❤️ ❤️
You are exactly what is needed on you tube. There are many mature adults that are really interested in your content. Be you because you are beautiful!!
omg thanks for writing that ❤️ ❤️
Love this❣️
You are such a beautiful person, what an inspiration ❤🙏
I am 58 , indipendend musician and life alone. It’s exactly like you say … ups and downs … but the best life I ever had !!! The only thing I had to learn is to constantly organize dates with friends… this is very important to not feel alone and enjoy your single life.
Keep it up and lots of success with your chanel … we need you 🙋♀️☀️🌺🌺🌺🌺
Hugs❤️❤️❤️
You’re a true inspiration to anyone who wants to be free and live a happy life! Love the videos, looking forward to new ones 💖
omg thanks for writing that ❤️ ❤️
Your beautiful smiling face and the beauty of your soul make the age have no sense, just continue being what you are !
❤️❤️❤️
Amen! I admire you for everything you do for yourself and others. People who are jealous of you leave nasty comments. They are broken.
thank you so much for being here and for your support❤️ ❤️
Poetry! thanks for writing that ❤️ ❤️
Fantastic channel!!!.I am 55 and startet last year a new career as a tarot reader, live by myself in Berlin, grown up kids too, making plans to move to Venice/ Italy in some time, because I love this city so much!
I can totally relay to every word you are saying and want to tell you, that your channel is amazing and so helpful, especially in the more lonely hours of the day!!
I thank you so much for starting, keep going, you are amazing, girl❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hugs❤️❤️❤️
Please don't pay attention to the people who have private frustrations and they try to project to others online. I love your content. And that short video you made is so inspiring, it gave me ideas on what to eat :)) thank you
❤️ ❤️ ❤️ THANK YOU for being here
I’m 52 Asian American empty nester going thru divorce and thinking of my next stage of life and starting over somewhere new. Went to Portugal last year and love pastel de nata and Algarve! Women like you and Dominique Sachse on YT inspire me ❤
oh I'm so happy you got inspired ❤️❤️❤️
THANK YOU for being here ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
totally ❤️🌱💫 growing older and deeply enjoying doing what we love to do is so awesome 😍 let’s keep changing that age discrimination ✨🌿🌼 and be happy however old we are 🧡
You say you feel panic sometimes.
But the Portuguese help when they see someone in difficulty.
It is one of our characteristics!
If there’s one thing that helps me feel calm it’s the portuguese people ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Daphne..I’m always happy to watch you on your channel.
So glad you’re here❤️
Hello Daphné,
I've just found you, and everything you say resonates with me.
I feel lost, and I am so glad I came across you, as I suddenly remember that I am Fearless and always somehow land on my feet .. ....
sending you lots of love from Portugal ❤️❤️❤️
Got what you’re saying. I moved back to be closer to my adult kids yet in a lot of ways I’ve felt lost but changing your mindset and moving forward in all levels you can reach again that happier space/home.. Best wishes! 🙏
I came across your channel because I was looking for people 40+ who were on their own and starting over. There are hundreds of videos out there of people quitting their jobs, feeling lost in life and starting over.. but none of them resonated with me because they are in their early 20s and have partners to help them financially and emotionally.
Your content is encouraging and honest and I’m glad I found your channel. ❤
thank you for being here ❤️ ❤️
That comment shows their personal uphappiness that they beilieve THEY are “too old” to do what you’re obviously ALREADY doing! You’re inspiring me! Keep your videos coming! Sending you good vibes only! ✨ 💖
oh I'm so happy you got inspired ❤️❤️❤️
Brava to you, Daphna ❤
You are an utter inspiration to me. I love your content. I love your authenticity and integrity. Ageism is real amongst societies especially just like you said to hold us back. We are unlimited if we choose to be. You are a true muse. Keep going Queen 👑
omg thanks for writing that ❤️ ❤️
This video is timely for me.
Happy birthday ❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful saying “live in to your blessings’ Love it!! 👏👏👏
❤️❤️❤️
You're amazing, you're strong and confident, sometimes you need to be told this.Happy days forever, thank you for your amazing enthusiasm to life.
omg thanks for writing that ❤️ ❤️❤️
I am so enjoying your videos Daphna! Many of our critics are just jealous....
sending you lots of love from Portugal ❤️❤️❤️
@@Daphna. Thank you.
You are not alone. I've been traveling to Europe since 1985, and I love it. It energizes my soul😊.
I’m about to turn 42, but your spirit, outlook and attitudes totally resonate with me! Thank you for sharing your life experiences with us! ❤
❤️❤️❤️
I return to Portugal every year now and each time I eat hundreds of Pasteis de Nata (there's nothing like it in my opinion). I am 62 years old and live by my motto "Be yourself, everyone else is taken". You are a true inspiration, so much of what you speak of rezonates with me. Perhaps one day we will meet in Algarve and exchange life stories. Thank you for your young wisdom!! Obrigada!!❤
Ohh I just love this comment, thank you so much ❤️
So inspired by you, thank you, I'm 53 changing my life with new things, not too old! 😃
❤️❤️❤️
I really appreciate how you took a mean comment and turned it into a title - that is getting so many views and comments! we're the same age. :) I've also been trying to get braver to do more with my youtube channel, and also an expat traveling solo. Thinking about the next place...
❤️❤️❤️
I’m just 64 and planning to move to France from the USA - I am a writer and can work from anywhere. I will never feel old as long as I’m engaged and excited, learning about stuff and staying healthy. You’re a kindred spirit. I look younger than my years (like you!!) too. I would like to start a TH-cam channel too one day! Go girl!! 👧
thank you for being here ❤️ ❤️
I totally understand , thank you , you are helping me with my loneliness!
I had my daughter at the age of 42, started a business at 52, and now at 67 have left Canada , have just started all over and moved to Portugal. I’ve had to listen to a lot of nay sayers .
Hugs❤️❤️❤️
53 years old here with grown up children. I agree with you in all that you said. It seems to be a lot of us 50+ women today feeling the same about the future and aging. Thank you for your content.
makes me so happy to read❤️❤️❤️
Hey Chickie!
No Need To Worry When The Electricity Goes Out!…I live by candlelight myself.)))
Everyone comments how spa like my place is n how they Love it because it also feels like the holidays.)))
Just order yourself some battery operated candles made of Real Wax but With The Fake Flicker. They Are The Most Real Looking Ones! I get mine at Pottery Barn(in the cream color n all different sizes to add variety.)
I recommend ya invest in several clickers for them. That way you can have one by the door to turn them on when you get home n one on your bedside table to shut them off if you want before you go to sleep etc. I keep one next to any seats so if one is too bright or I want to change the ambiance, I don’t have to get up, I can just use the handy clicker there to shut that one off.)))
They are fabulous to have in the kitchen n bathroom Especially as a nightlight(and better looking than one too,)))so you can see when you have to go to them in the night.
Whenever we loose power, I barely notice because I still have fabulous lighting.)))
I mainly just worry about not being able to charge my phone.lolol
Another fabulous thing about them is You Never Have To Worry About Falling Asleep With Them On, unlike real candles n them being such a fire hazard.
Congrats On All Of Your Success!)))
I just found your channel this morning n I’m So Happy For You N Impressed By You that I’ve already Subscribed Of Course, but have watched several of your videos already!)))
Thank You For Sharing Your Fabulous Life With Us N Taking The Time To Make Them!))) I Love That You’ve Been Able To Make A Business With Them That Then Allows You To Continue To Live Your Best Life!)))…You Go Girl!)))
Girl Power!)))lololol
Please Disregard The Curmudgeons!
They Do Not Deserve Your Energy.
❤️Jacqueline(from the states)
ohhhh I wanna try! thanks so much for this tip❤️❤️❤️
Good on you!
You are speaking about real things and also inspiring others to be true to themselves. I love watching your journey😊
omg thanks for writing that ❤️ ❤️
Dear Ms Daphne,
I appreciate that you speak slowly and clearly.
Be well and be safe, good luck and good health,
Val Sofia from Los Angeles, California
thanks so much for writing this and for being here ❤️ ❤️❤️ in my first videos I talk about my background
Yes just keep ignoring the little minds. Let’s continue to expand, evolve and explore the world. I’m 57 btw and right now I’m traveling through Peru ❤
I’m “only” 41 and videos like yours give me hope.
Alleluia, totally agree with you and more women need to say these things to each other and publicly!
I find you very inspirational, thank you for posting these videos. ❤
your comment is so motivating, thanks for that ❤️
Really enjoyed this video.
❤️❤️❤️
I am 44 years old and just love your videos! So inspiring!
I live in Mozambique - Africa and I am very grateful for the life I have built here.
Neverthless, I always wanted to live abroad, since I was a kid, even if it is just for a certain period of time.
Watching your videos make me feel like everything possible.
Keep it up! Thank you❤
oh I'm so happy you got inspired ❤️❤️❤️
Great quote and video❤
oh sending you lots of love from Portugal Xxx
Thank you for your wisdom and being an example of being human and being committed to a full life of growth and adventure. Just turned 50 and am in a season of incredible expansion. Turns out there is so much extra capacity to develop when you stop listening to people who want you to play small due to their own discomfort. Blessings for what you’re doing.
your comment is so motivating, thanks for that ❤️
You’re an inspiration. Keep being you and the rest will manifest itself. Thank you for sharing💙
THANK YOU for being here ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
For an almost-50- year-old who is seriously considering early retirement, your videos (like this one) are so valuable to me. Thank you!
thank you for being here ❤️ ❤️
I started watching your channel because you are an inspiration for women our age! I don’t watch the twenty somethings as they are far more interested in themselves than producing good content apart from one or two. These days I get so surprised at some of the hurtful comments the key board warriors make. I’m looking forward to travelling in the next year or so and enjoy following your journey.
hugs❤️
You're such a clever and authentic person. I love listening to you. Thx for sharing. Your life is very interesting and inspiring !
Daphna:
YOU are not what you eat. You are more like desert: Always sweet and a pleasure to watch and listen to.
Thank you for sharing and for being here ❤️ you are inspiration
You have a lot of vitality, appear much younger than your biological years, and are very inspiring for us folk who want to start over, including moving countries, at more advanced ages.
thanks for these nice words❤️
Hi again Daphna! I try and comment on your new videos as much as possible. I hope that helps with the TH-cam algorithm. More people in their fifty's should get exposure to your videos. You are so right about agism, especially in youth obsessed western cultures. Each phase of one's life has benefits and drawbacks. We must learn to embrace the present and take full advantage. I love being in my 50's. There is so much I still want to do, and yes, even riding a motorcycle across Europe! Take care Daphna. Looking forward to your next video!
Thank you for being here and for your support ❤️❤️❤️ you have a kind heart
Yes, together we can stay happier!
Living and
planning the next chapters. You are an inspiration and provide so much support. Also planning my finances taking control and no longer sticking my head in the sand. Thanks for your content and examples you're so real.
hugs❤️❤️❤️
Love your channel and thank you for. the balanced view in this video. Life has its ups and downs, but one's attitude can help us as much on the ups as the downs. Still, life has its struggles for each of us. I love your quote " aging is inevitable but getting old is a choice." That's now one of my two favorite quote on aging. The other is from an American football coach who said "age is only an approximation of how old one is." Thank you and PS, my first addiction was also pastel de nata and I also love pão de queijo; those little cheesy bread balls are so deceptively dangerous.
Dangerous indeed😂 thank you so much for being here and for your support❤️ ❤️i
What you are doing is brilliant! You are right on target living your life. You are a great woman! 🌷
thanks for writing this and for being here ❤️ ❤️
I too moved to Portugal in my mid 50's and have completely started over. I really relate to everything you just said, both the good and the hard. For me it's all about mindset. I want to create a non-limiting, positive and adventurous mindset for myself. I believe you are not just what you eat , but you become what you think. I want to think about exciting possibilities and enjoy life!
You are what you think .Exactly that!
Thankyou! I have just found your channel. Perfect and so spot on. Please keep up the great work ❤
I have so appreciated finding your channel! Love the spirit you bring to being alive.
thanks for writing that ❤️ ❤️
I agree with you completely. Congratulation on taking charge of your life like this. It's beautiful.
hugs❤️❤️❤️
You are right there is not enough content for older people who are fit, active independent and self sufficient. When older people are quietly confident about going after their goals it is easier to focus on your goals and ignore the younger voices who try to block your ambitions. They do not want to challenge oder people I think they just have preconceived notions based on the older people they are used to seeing. Dependent on medications, depressed, anxious, focused on illness and who have forgotten what it feels like to be young and healthy. You don’t need to lose that with age but you do need to be focused and committed to exercising and eating right to be strong and healthy.
absolutely love this comment, thanks so much ❤️
I’m so happy I found your channel - I love your content and it inspires me to keep working on doing my own channel as a 53 yr old woman. You are so graceful. Keep up the great work ❤
❤️ ❤️ ❤️ THANK YOU for being here
You are refreshing. Very appealing with honest sage advise.
❤️ ❤️ ❤️ THANK YOU for being here
Thank you for being so open about your life and your feelings. There is life after children and 50. It's not always easy, but we can still have an exiting life.🥰
Hugs❤️
You are amazing 😻! Ty for doing what you do! 🙏🏻 It’s inspiring.
thank you so much for being here and for your support❤️ ❤️
Do not let this people behind the keyboard to put you down… keep living life.
thanks for writing that ❤️ ❤️
Happy Mother's Day DAPHA!. Do the things that makes you happy all the time. Take care!
omg thanks for writing that ❤️ ❤️
I love ageing!
💖💖💖
You are no way too old to have fun. Continue to have fun and experience new things
Thanks Daphna i find you inspirational and as im thinking of making the move to Portugal at 64 to start over , makes me feel it is not such a bad idea. dont get me started on peoples limiting beliefs and restrictive ideas . lol.
Thank you for sharing and for being here ❤️
I think people say all sorts of things negative things because of envy. Period.”
- Chris Gardner, The Pursuit Of Happyness
your comment is so motivating, thanks for that ❤️
